Nyaela of the Rampant Tskanna

Physical Information
Race: Myrian
Birthday & Age: Season of Winter, Day 3, 486 AV (26 years)
Gender: Female
Sibling(s): Apos

Physical Description
Nyaela stands at about 5'6", with medium-dark brown hair that falls just past her shoulder blades. Although not one to excessively decorate, she does have a certain love for feathers, and almost always has at least one feather (usually red or black) decorating her hair.

Nyaela has a tskanna's horn tattooed on her right upper arm, as well as a small tskanna tattooed on the inside of her left wrist with green eyes to match her own.

As of Winter 511AV, Nyaela received a permanent scar from a human, Revy Hiroe, that starts from the left corner of her mouth and rises up well past her cheek.

Character History
The third of five children, Nyaela often travelled into the jungles of Falyndar at a young age with her parents. From her family (often roaming the jungle to chance upon poor souls to enslave, but also with a variety of normal items they found while scavenging or hunting), Nyaela learned the art of bartering, watching her mother deal with outsiders around the jungle and in Taloba if she was lucky. Finally, when Nyaela was sixteen her father taught her how to properly use a weapon while her sister went to train with their mother.

Of course, she had learned how to defend herself from predators before this, but now she learned what would really be useful to her, she learned to do more than defend: she learned how to fight. Nyaela soon decided that a stagnant life in Taloba waiting to sell the latest catches was not something she could keep up with daily and resolved to find a way to earn her keep while spreading the glory of the goddess-queen throughout her travels.

Weapons:
Nyaela prefers close combat and is often willing to barge in weaponless, however she does own a weapon. She took a liking to the whip because of its familiarity, and how often she had seen her mother use it. If an enemy is too far and it is too dangerous to shorten the distance, or it is easier for her to use the whip, then she does so without hesitation, often attempting to pull the enemy closer within range of her fists.

1 large tent (4 person),
large tarp,
100 ft of rope,
flint & steel,
lantern,
2 torches,

Extra
1 Waterskin
1 Backpack which contains:
1 Set of Toiletries (comb, brush, razor, soap)

1 eating knife

Personal Object: A set of earrings and a necklace made with the tusks of the tskanna, the animal to which Nyaela's ancestors owed so much. This particular tskanna was badly wounded in an accident a few days before Nyaela's birth, and had died just before Nyaela was born. Thinking that the spirit of the tskanna had now passed to Nyaela, her parents had this set made especially for her, in the hopes that the strength, personality and will of the tskanna to work would power their daughter in the years to come.

Nyaela of the Rampant Tskanna

Postby Nyaela on December 10th, 2011, 3:27 am

Interview

{{A short interview Nyaela had recently. We're still not sure why they wanted to know so much ...}}

General Information :
1. What is your Name?
I am Nyaela of the Rampant Tskanna.
2. Do you go by a nickname or pet name?
There are few that I give this privilege to. You may come to know in time if you are lucky.
3. How old are you?
I have just recently turned 25. Not that it is any of your business.
4. What is your height?
You think to make remarks on my lack of height? A fool would have been wiser.
5. What is your weight?
I shall not deign to answer this question.

Aesthetics :
1. Describe yourself as you see yourself.
I am Myrian. I am the stronger race and I owe my allegiance to the rightful ruler of Falyndar: the Goddess-Queen, Myri. I am proud, beautiful and strong, just like the other sisters of my race, and I have a rather - dare I say - fantastic personality. Yes, you'll find I am quite liked by those around me. And admired, too. Yes, of course.
2. Describe yourself as others typically see you.
Much the same, of course. Why, you think I was trying to be humble?
3. What is your favorite body feature?
Favourite? Why must I choose one when they all work together to produce something so amazing?
4. How physically fit are you?
Fit enough. Would you care to race?
5. How do you typically dress and what is your style?
I prefer to dress in the tradtional Myrian clothing. Usually a blouse with leggings and no footwear. Leather armour is unbearable in this heat, yet I will not shy from it as I plan to live many summers.

Family :
1. Who are your parents and what are they like?
I am daughter to Saheri and Ruk of the Poisoned Arrow. What are they like? They are Myrian; they are as any Myrian should be. They taught me the importance of balance throughout life, and a good many things else of which I am extremely grateful for.
2. Do you have any brothers or sisters?
Three sisters and a brother.
3. What is your extended family like?
4. Do you consider close friends as important or more/less important than family?
5. Do you treat animals like family?
I must admit it is a rather irritating obsession I have with animals. Yes, I do treat them as if they were my own, and I hope to one day call a Myrian Tiger my own as well.

Location :
1. Where were you born?
I was born in the great city of Taloba.
2. Where do you live now?
I live wherever Myri guides me.
3. If you could live anywhere in Mizahar where would that be?
My home is where Myri sends me.
4. Do you have a favorite place to vacation or spend leisure time?
I enjoy spending time at the longhouse with my family.
5. Where do you fear to be?
I fear no place.

Traits :
1. Do you have any physical weaknesses (disease, scars, and missing limbs?)
I have scars, yet each mark is no weakness: they serve as a reminder of the mistakes I have made once and shall not do so again.
2. Are you right handed or left handed?
I favour my right, although I know this is a weakness: it is one I am working on at the moment, but these things take time.
3. What languages do you speak? What do you sound like? Do you have an accent?
I speak Myrian mainly, but I understand a little of the weaker language ... what do they call it, Common? I do not speak it well, though. It is ungraceful and my tongue is used to prettier sounds, that is for sure.
4. Do you have any odd mannerisms, annoying habits, or other defining characteristics?
Odd mannerisms? Annoying habits? Who do you think you are speaking to? I am perfectly normal. I don't go around asking questions like this, for starters ...
5. Do you have (or want to get) any tattoos or piercing? Why do you have them (or will get them)?
I have my clan tattoo on my right arm, right here. And a tattoo on my left wrist as well. Piercings have never truly interested me. My sister disagrees with me, however.

Occupations :
1. What is your occupation?
2. Do you like/dislike your work? Why?
3. If you could be anything you wanted to, what would you be?
4. What occupation do you admire the most? Why?
5. What occupation do you lest like? Why?

Childhood :
1. What sort of child were you?
A normal one. I am ashamed to admit that I did not stand out in any way in my classes. That is not to say that I am not hardworking or good at anything at all.
2. What is your favorite memory from childhood?
3. What is your worst memory from childhood?
4. What sort of relationship did you have with your parents?
I respected them. They brought me into this world and raised me with proper Myrian values. There is nothing short of completing my duties as a Myrian that I can do to fully thank them.
5. Who was your most influential rolemodel?
Myri, of course, but my mother was most definitely someone I admired ... admire. I hope to one day be half the Myrian she is. I know I will serve my race well if this is so.

Education :
1. What sort of education do you have?
Normal Myrian education.
2. Do you like/dislike learning?
To be honest, I wasn't too interested. Learning new concepts wasn't entirely easy for me. But the weapons training grew more intense as you got older. It was possibly the only enjoyable experience in school.
3. Where or how did you learn most of your skills/abilities?
With my parents, but I was sent to school when it was mandatory.
4. How do you learn best?
By watching people. I learn, I copy, and then I right myself should I make a mistake. Of course, you're very right, no it doesn't happen that often.
5. What are your educational goals for the future?
My educational goals vary. I learn what I must in my continuous search to please the Goddess-Queen.

Relationships :
1. Do you form close bonds with people? Why? Why not?
I form bonds just as normal people do.
2. Do you trust people easily? If not, why not?
If I am given a reason not to trust, I do not trust. Also, I am not blatantly obvious about such choices either. If I do not trust someone, I will not tell them: if they are not to be trusted then informing them of my suspicions is rather counteractive, no?
3. Do you consider yourself straight, gay, bi, or something else?
I prefer men, yes.
4. Have you ever been kissed? If so, describe the first time.
Yes. It was awkward, I suppose.
5. Have you ever had sex? If so, describe the first time.
Yes. What, you wish to hear a tale of how perfect it was? We had taken a little too much to drink, and we really didn't know what we were doing. It certainly wasn't the best night I'd ever had, that's for sure.

Drugs and Alcohol :
1. Have you ever been drunk? If so, describe your first time.
Yes, it was not pleasant. But the hours leading up to it were, I am sure. At least, if I could remember them, they would have been.
2. Do you like to drink on a regular basis?
I do drink as it is a rather enjoyable stress-reliever in moderation, however I do not drink that often, no.
3. What sort of alcohol do you prefer?
I am not partial to anything specifically. Perhaps I have not tried the right kinds.
4. Have you ever tried drugs (mood altering substances)? If so, which kinds and what did you think of them?
No. Alcohol is something you can manage. Drugs are unpredictable, and I shudder to think what such a substance could do to me.
5. What do you think of drugs and alcohol? Be specific.
I believe I have made my opinions rather clear in the previous questions.

Likes and Dislikes :
1. What are your hobbies?
I enjoy spending time wandering the streets of Taloba. My hobbies vary, but no, I cannot think of anything specific at the moment. Perhaps I shall have the answer at another time.
2. Do you like to read?
No.
3. What annoys you more than anything else?
Many, many things annoy me. It is best we do not get into any of them.
4. What do you find the most relaxing activity to do?
A nice bath after a long day.
5. What kinds of things embarrass you? Why?
Why should anything embarrass me?

Favorites :
1. What is your favorite color or colors?
I do not think about it much, honestly. I am not really fond of bright colours. Or anything too colourful either.
2. What is your favorite time of day?
Dusk. When the sun sets, it is absolutely beautiful. And then the night comes, and - perhaps it is just me - but I believe that people truly become themselves in the night. No pretending. It's a wonderful feeling.
3. What is the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen?
The jungles of Falyndar are unrivaled. What? No, I have not been outside of Falyndar. But I know this to be true. How? I just do ... also, this is said and agreed upon among us.
4. What do you like to eat? What do you hate to eat?
I enjoy any form of meat, really.
5. What is your favorite type of weather? Does any kind scare you?
I like the rain. Less people are out during the day, and it often gives me a break if I am helping my mother.
And of course not, why would I be afraid of something so natural?

Outlook :
1. Are you optimistic or pessimistic?
I look at things the way they should be seen: I am not afraid to say the truth. I feel no need to sugar-coat something, or ruin it either.
2. What are your religious views?
I believe those are quite obvious ...
3. Would you be able to kill?
Is 'do you breathe air' the next question?
4. What are your views on sex?
Men should know their rightful place in all things. Men can take life. So can a child. As a woman, I have the power to bring life into this world, of course I should be honoured for it.
5. What, in your opinion, makes a successful life?
One must be able to work for everything. This world will not tolerate a lazy, useless excuse for a fool. And neither should I.

Actions :
1. What is the worst and best thing you’ve ever done?
2. What is your greatest regret?
I have no regrets. Everything I do is for a reason, and I very rarely find a mistake in my actions. Of course, there are times when I wish I could have done something differently, but you must keep your head in the present and not worry about the past.
3. What is your best/worst memory?
4. If you could change one thing about your past, what would it be and why?
I would change nothing. Everything happens for a reason. What happened made us the way we are: if we wanted them to change and they did then we would not have received the insight that made us rethink the decision in the first place.
5. What are you the most proud of doing in your life?

Emotions :
1. How honest are you about your thoughts and feelings with others?
As honest as I need to be. I see no reason to lie about anything: if I do not feel the need to divulge certain information, I shall not tell it.
2. Do you have any biases or prejudices?
No.
3. What makes you happy?
I am a woman of simple tastes. It does not take much, really.
4. Who or what, if anything, would you die for?
I would die for Myri.
5. What makes you angry?
Again, let's not get into this ...

Relationships :
1. In general, how do you treat others?
As they are to be treated. If someone has earned my respect, I will respect them. It may take me a while, but don't expect me to fall over you the minute we meet if you have no intentions to prove yourself worthy of respect later on. In fact, don't expect me to like you at all if this is the case.
2. Who is the most important person in your life, and why?
3. Who is the person you respect the most, and why?
4. Do you have a spouse or significant other? If not, describe an ideal lover.
5. Do you trust anyone to protect you? Who, and why?
I trust anyone to do what is best for them at the time: I do not expect any more or any less of anyone. If I am unable to take care of myself in the first place, then I am not worthy of being saved.

Group Situations :
1. Do you tend to argue with people, or avoid conflict?
I argue when there is a need. If I feel something is wrong, I waste no time informing everyone of it.
2. Do you tend to take on leadership roles in social situations?
Hmmm. I suppose not. I rather like to be told what is expected of me. I feel being a leader would take more effort than I am willing to put into any group.
3. Do you like interacting with large groups of people? Why or why not?
This is an interesting question. At times yes and at times no, I suppose.
4. Do you care what others think of you?
They think of me in the way that I present myself. If I am not to their liking, such is their choice.
5. What do you think of others, in general?
Likewise, I judge them by how they present themselves.

Self Image :
1. What is your greatest strength as a person?
You know, I often congratulate myself at being able to walk away from irritating situations with such a level head. And few bruises. On me, that is.
2. What is your greatest weakness?
Weakness? Pah. If I had one to share I would be working on strengthening it already.
... I also do not feel divulging such things helps me in any way.
3. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
Nothing.
4. Are you generally introverted or extroverted?
Well, if I do not show a remarkable interest in others or their doings it is more because I cannot move myself to pretend I care than that I am not social.
5. Are you generally organized or messy?
Messy at times. I have been working on it.

Beliefs :
1. What God or Goddess do you find most appealing, if any?
Our Goddess-Queen, of course.
2. Which God or Goddess do you fear, if any?
3. Do you have any Gnosis Marks? If so, how did you receive them?
4. What lengths would you go to to please your deity?
I would go to any lengths.
5. Where do you draw the line at pleasing your deity? What is too much?
There is no line to draw. If Myri wishes it, I would sacrifice myself. I would sacrifice you. No one's life is too important to the wishes of the gods. To tell you the truth, however, I don't think that if any of them wanted us dead we would still live. Who are we to stand in the way of the wish of a god?

Life & Death :
1. What do you absolutely live for?
The glory of my race.
2. What is the best part of life?
The knowledge that you have it in your power to do many great things.
3. What is the best part of death?
Ah, I like this question: everything has a limit to what it can do, there is no sense in being afraid of something so natural. The best part? Times come and go, and everything changes. Death is the mediator: if something has reached its end then there is no longer a need for it to be there. It is removed so more good 'things' can grow in its place. I am no farmer, but I believe that is how they farm, too, is it not?
4. If you could choose, how would you want to die?
In the midst of battle, with Myri's glorious name on my lips as I am sent beyond.
5. What is the one thing for which you would most like to be remembered after your death?
My many victories.
Dead enemies do not always remain dead, but they do stay enemies.
