There I was, sitting in Alvadas, in the room where I had died but not passed on.. My soulmist was dancing around me, swirling slowly, along with my mood, which was gloomy and boggy. I decided I was to move from Alvadas, I was not helping here.. I would leave this place, but not permanently, I would return.
To where I would go, I was unsure.. I had heard some of the villagers talking about Zeltiva, so I decided it wasn't a bad place to start.
I left the building I was in, walking through walls, not bothering with doors. Outside it seemed peaceful, quiet, and calm. The fastest form of travel for a ghost is usually blinking, so I started blinking in short bursts.

Four weeks later, after blinking through miles and miles of terrain, I found myself at the entrance of Zeltiva. I was tired, and my mind was foggier than my soulmist. I decided to get some rest.

Fall 29, 511 AV

The creak of oars against dark waves brought Wrenmae back to consciousness. It was a sound he had heard since departing Sunberth, having spent far less time in Sarhova than he had initially desired. Zeltiva was a university that might be of more help to him, although the prospect of being so close to that many people chilled the young mage. Vayt's prescence was a cloying cloak over his body, a living wraith spreading sickness to all in close contact. Already the denizens of the ship showed signs of wear. Coughs and sneezes echoed among the crew and passengers, reminding the boy to pretend with the rest of them. It was hardly prudent to single himself out so early on.

The oars had sounded different now, scraping against stone bottom as the boat docked quietly amid a sea of masts. Wrenmae clutched his bags around him, pushing off the boat with the rest of the passengers, a mindless surge of sickness and grim spirits.

Zeltiva should have been a destination of import, but illness had stolen energy and will.

It was a familiar sight, disheartening as always.

Taking in a deep breath of Zeltivan air, the mage hefted his backpack and started toward the buildings, past the docks.

His instruction would begin ahead.

This PC has the Blight gnosis. As such, you as a player need to be aware of what that consists of. Wrenmae has an invisible aura that amplifies sickness and disease. Wounds may become infected, small sneezes may become coughing, and a slight fever may become more serious. A nuit's body will also break down faster in the presence of the Blight. These effects may not be immediate, but within the few days following your encounter, the symptoms will manifest. Some sooner than others. I cannot control your character, so creativity will be left up to you. Best wishes and stay healthy!

Special shoutout to Fallon for my new CS

6th day of Fall, 490 AV

A tiny pair of shoes, tied at their skinny laces, dangled from Yelem Bree's fingers. Never a man of constitution, he had taken the option of waiting for the midwife and his wife, Andra, to do the business of bearing his only child. Yelem listened to the splashes of water, the grunts and groans of his beloved, yearning to be with her. It would only give the midwife the added task of bringing him back to his senses from the floor, however. So a worried and anticipatory pace it would be.

Unfortunately for the child, his father was already trying to decide if 'and son' would be added to his cobbler's storefront immediately. Fortunately, ths child was male, as a little girl would have been in love with cobbling, but more the effect than the cause. His wife, an accomplished herbalist and delight in the kitchen, now crafted her most sublime creation to date. He had his part he had played, but it was only the seeding. The care and nurturing that would make his son into a man of compassion would truly come from his mother's warm living touch that she applied to all living things.

A shrill cry, as air entered virgin lungs, pierced the quiet innards of their abode. Yelem could only stare slack-jawed at the door. It soon opened, the midwife nodding and smiling, approaching him with fresh washed hands. Most likely a request from Andra for her husband's stomach. "It is a son, Yelem. He is named Elem, after you." Only once before had Yelem smiled so freely and warmly. The day he had set eyes on Andra.

75th Fall 511AV

It had been only a few days by sea from Mura to Zeltiva. But as restless as those nights were he had counted every single one of them. He wasn’t in any apparent rush to get to Zeltiva. But he knew that the faster he got to Riverfall the faster he could begin gathering information on all the medical wonders that awaited him there. The ship made port early in the morning. And there stood Serrif ready to depart quickly and set himself into motion; he was a large towering white figure. Clad in a long white fur cloak, underneath it a matching bodysuit and breastplate, both in white as well. His boots set foot on the dock and like that he had departed and left Mura behind. Just like that it was all behind him, but at the same time it was in his future as well. He knew time was fluent like that. You never knew for sure what was in your future of past, only Avalis knew that for sure. And he was no fortune teller.

His facewrap hugged his face sheltering him from the whipping cool wind. Winter was on the brink. Settling into every nook and cranny it could settle itself in until spring chased it away. But for now it was settling ready to pour out a white blanket over everything the eye could see. The winters on the mainland weren’t nearly as gracious as they were on Mura; this much he knew from experience. Which was why he had bought the long thick white fur cloak that now adorned his body. Underneath his had fixed his dagger harness and decorated his breastplate with the two ornate daggers that were hand crafted for his hands alone. On his back were all his worldly possessions; in his mind all his worldly knowledge. He was ready to head into the tempest before him and make his way to Syliras. Once there he would buy a horse and head to Riverfall. Hopefully he could catch a caravan that needed a healer that was bound for Syliras. If not he would likely have to buy a horse here and head to Syliras alone…which he wanted to avoid if he could. He wanted some company in his journey.

He pulled the fur hood up over his head to help and shelter him from the flurry around him. Winter was looming. It was best to get on the road as soon as possible. He knew he had a long journey ahead of him. The sooner he got his feet on the ground heading in the right direction the better. He stretched some adjusting his mind to the weight he carried. He didn’t have much which made this easy for him. And he was sure someone here was bound for Syliras. Someone had to be.

meets it head-on and licks it,
or he turns his back on it and starts to wither away.

1st day of Winter 511AV

During the winter seasons the wilderness became a harsh world to live in. Even for one as wild as Xavier Akafur, the times after the first snow turned the usual rigamarole of finding shelter and food into a deadly game of survival. Reckless as he was, the otter had no intentions of fighting with the wild winter as he had done in years past. No, it was much the smarter route to come into town and find a place to stay for a short while. He had coin to spare for the time being. A man of little worldly possessions who hunted for his own food nearly year round tends to collect money steadily, for when in the wild there is no place to spend it. So as it came, the Kelvic wandered into town on this day, neither particularly threatening or interesting to any.

Xavier, as always, moved with an easy grace. His strides were long, but carefree and without haste. Compared to the busy merchants and residents moving around him, the man seemed to be moving in slow motion. Still, there was a spark in his eyes, a spark unnoticed by all but the most perceptive of people, or others who possessed it. It was the look of a man looking for excitement, the thrill of an adventure or the rush of a fight. Having nowhere to go and with little other motivation than to inspect the place, the male walked the streets of the city, knowing that for now he could get away with sleeping outside if it came down to it.

511 AV, 6th day of Winter

The young girl let out a soft breath as Zeltiva came into view, the cold air created a cloud of condensation in the air. That breath was difficult to determine the emotion of, because it was a mix. Relief at finally arriving, anxiety that for the first time she would be by herself, wonder at the sight she had never seen before.

The people who were receiving a ride with her were all doing the best they could to avoid the cold, but she herself was standing near the front of the ship, looking out with eyes filled with curiosity. She enjoyed the cold air, but more so than that she was too busy looking at the island that she did not even notice the weather.

She was also a bit frightened, though it did not show on her smiling face. Of course, suddenly relying only on yourself in such unfamiliar places is frightening, but more so, even though she motivated herself to study many things, including magic... she still had trouble thinking about it, without getting sick or being unable to move from fright.

When the ship landed, she grabbed the few items she brought, and looking around, her eyes were filled with a sparkle. Her curiosity to study everything wanted her to go to every place simultaneously, even though that was obviously not possible.

10th of Spring, 494 AV (Flashback)

The moment Nira'lia and her family stepped foot in Zeltiva, Nira''lia knew that her life was just beginning. After fifteen years of enslavement, they were finally free and ready to start anew. The Konti woman had no idea of how to be free, but she had heard of tales about Zeltiva, about how it was a grand port city and how maybe in her lifetime, she could find a ship to take her to Mura.

She, her mother, and her sisters had only a few coins between them. However, her mother was keen to get them all jobs -- each of them could get a job in divination, or maybe in medicine. No matter what, their skills had been valuable as slaves, and it gave them the opportunity to build their lives.

Heart don't fail me now
Courage don't desert me
Don't turn back now that we're here

Season of Winter, Day 2, 511 AV

It was hard to believe that she was here. How long had she been dreaming of traveling to a place like Zeltiva? She had lost count of the times she had fallen asleep reading a book about the beautiful port city. It was a place that she had decided right from the beginning, even before she had gathered up the courage to tell her mother that it was time, that Zeltiva would be her first stop. It was a place where any could come and study, it couldn't get much better than that for Kadri. Well, it could but she wasn't hoping for too much, she didn't wish to seem greedy.

It may have seemed silly and perhaps it was just her but as she rode forward on her horse Ren, she was sure that her heart was racing like crazy. Kadri was beyond excited at the sight of the city. Never before had she seen anything like it. Well, that wasn't true, she had seen a great many things but the pictures in her books did not do the city justice as far as she was concerned. This was it, this was the start of a grand adventure for her. Was this where the call was leading her or would she be led elsewhere? So many questions. "Always with the questions Kadri, is it necessary for you to know everything?" Her mother's voice was heard in the girl's head as she urged Ren on, The answer of course was yes, she did and maybe someday she would.

The wind blew her white hair around a bit, causing her to pull her clothing to her closer. Normally the cold didn't bother her but atop Ren the wind seemed to better wrap around her. The lovely white horse didn't seem to mind all that much, snorting and shaking her head as she clomped on into the lovely city. Such a sweet-tempered horse she had been paired up with, she had been very lucky. It was such a culture shock for the sheltered Konti, she had spent her whole life around other Konti with the occasional visitor coming to The White Island but for the most part she hadn't been around other races and yet here they were. Mostly humans if she was correct in her assumption. Common seemed to be spoken all over, not a language she was fluent in but she could mostly keep up with various conversations that seemed to be going on all over the place.

For the most part things seemed to be bustling, where should she go first?

Season of Winter, Day 1, 511 AV
Afternoon

Arriving at the city through storm and strife, Kvar was doing his best to swim or walk in the face of the wanderlust curse that resided deep within the soul layers, gnawing at those that took his family name. His mother ocean both a giver and taker of life had all but claimed his kin. Separating or shattering lives until their abilities were no longer concentrated in a pool, well he didn’t plan to go quietly with the tide, not while the Svefra had fire in his veins.

Today the burial of his brother baptised in fire upon the drifting waters, might be enough to damper the spirits of others, but a good drink would be the best possible way to celebrate the fallen. The Promise, the last driftweaver vessel to sail these waters was shattered beyond all hope of redemption, but the memory of her would live on in the actions he did here and now.

With good cheer and a stoic look to his ocean dwelling eyes, the Svefra resolved to make this storm his birth not his end, pushing forward to find his destiny in the bowels of the port city, if there was to be some salvation of a land dwelling existence, perhaps it came from those who made their lives at sea. Palming silver where it was needed, greasing the wheels for his advancement, he worked his way into the city, taking what he was strong or smart enough to take, as was the Svefra way.
