Physical Description

Zivalah is a young girl, having just turned fifteen. She stands at five feet tall, with long blackish-brown hair and bronze colored skin. Her eyes are a dark ebony, framed by long lashes, almost narrow and slanted in her bony face. Zivaleh has an exotic appearance, as do most desert dwellers, however that is not to say that she is anything pretty or extraordinary. In fact, Zivalah is rather plain looking, with a bit of the gangly appearance of a newborn foal, her legs and arms are too long and her features too pointy to quite fit her face. In time, it is hoped that she will grow into her attributes and become something pretty, but at the moment the child has no real hopes or dreams in that direction.

Zivalah wears clothes woven by her mother, a green shift homespun and slightly rough, along with a red headscarf, or often a black headscarf for when she is dressing up. Her more formal attire has many small raven's feathers and little black beads attached to it such that it gleams purple and green hues in the sunlight. She owns a pair of shoes, but never wears them.

Character Concept An odd child, Zivalah is quiet and nearly silent, always watching. She never displays a very great range of emotions, and when she does talk, it is evident that the girl does not understand normal human conventions. Instead, she is rather enamored with the logical and the earthly. What is needed for survival.

Character History As a babe, Zivalah never cried. At first, her mother was thankful after dealing with five successive babies that refused to be quiet. But soon enough that thankfulness turned to suspicion and fear. A silent baby, Zivalah only watched what was going on around her with an almost preternatural awareness. It was debated whether or not the babe was possessed, but eventually they decided that she was just different. Even with all these undertones, Zivalah was still a loved child. Her parents doted on her as the youngest, and to their great surprise, while Zivalah was slow to talk, when she did begin it was in full sentences.

The child was precocious in all senses of the word, she learned to walk early, and was often found off by herself watching the desert or the birds. She did not seem to move very much, except for her eyes, and yet the girl always knew what was going on. A loner, Zivalah made very few childhood friends, and stuck with her family mostly. Though even amongst her many siblings, she was the odd one out.

Zivalah could have been called a voracious learner, if only she had actually learned with such emotion, however the child did absorb information swiftly and with purpose - learning from her tribe the various necessities for life along with more worldly knowledge.

Eventually, Zivalah turned fifteen, and it was time for her searching to begin...
