The awkward silence from the hissing brought Jakri back. What was he doing? He was trying to hide the fact that he was a zith wan't he? But here he was hissing at the first person he had met after leaving the colony. This won't do at all. And if the captain thought a lot more on it he might know something was up. "Yes captain, sorry captain." Jakri answered trying to break the silence and salvage whatever he could.
For a cripple, Trios was having a good pace. Jakri who as the rest of his species preferred to make use of their wings most of the time. It was fast, easy and efficient. But that only meant it was a bit hard to get used to walking so much. While he tried to keep up the pace with the Isur, he was given a very interesting proposition to swap stories.
Jakri has heard of these...gods before. Prayers and threats from some of his victims in the past. If the so called divine beings were real surely those men and women wouldn't be either slaves or food. A lie, thats what all the gods were. Not like the zith, everyone can vouch about the terror of the zith which plagues the Sea of Grass. Distracted by his thoughts and the surprise from the thud, Jakri found himself saying "Yes, flying is nice right?" before he brought his hand up to cover it up before he can say anymore.
"So...will you pay back the god one way or another?" Jakri asked with a little grin on his face when Trios concluded the story. He did not seem like a person to take an insult like that lightly. Even after what had happened to him according to the story, it seems like he did not change one bit. The zith found himself having a little admiration for the isur and excitedly put forward a little request of his own. "Then you will have to teach me how to fight through it!"
It was now his turn as part of the deal. Jakri was going to have to tell the truth. The truth was subjective though. As the light started to get dimmer, Jakri stood looking at the captain thinking of how he would tell it. Obviously some parts would have to be omitted to hide his blood. It won't be a lie, just concealing the truth as he reasoned with himself. "Well uhm...I was supposed to take over the family's work. I was from a large family so the job for the young ones like me are already set. But I wanted to do something else. Something I found out while I was roaming one day. My family wanted nothing of it. So I had to leave. I don't think I will be welcome back."
Jakri said all this with much conviction and no remorse. As far as he was concerned he no longer had a family, his colony. He was alone now but it was good. Family was a weakness he can do without. He will strive, he will succeed in his goals. And this Captain Trios will be the one to take him there.
