It was so peaceful here on the beach at night with the fire going. It would flicker and wane as the wind blew on it. He swore he could stare at those orange and grey wooden coals forever here. The rolling white capped waves brought him a peace that he hadn’t ever known before arriving here on the isle. Everything was peaceful here. Violence of the outside world seemed to be swallowed up by the nearly endless seas that surrounded the isle. He reflected on who he would be if he hadn’t come here…And he didn’t like what his mind told him.
He would be lost, like a destroyed ship at sea. Floating among the currents and at the mercy of the ocean itself. He would be violent, and that anger and hostility wouldn’t be channeled at all. He didn’t know for sure what he would be doing with himself but he knew he would be a very different man from who he was right now. “I mean to say I think they are planning something, or keeping something from me until the time is right. They have been acting peculiar.”
He shrugged and went back to eating the fish. It was full of taste as any fresh fish would be. Especially when the fish was this fresh. He had never had any bounty of the sea that was as wonderful as this. He had only caught the fish a short while ago. He was sure Blythe was enjoying it as well…His hand shook slightly and he breathed in deep trying to calm himself. Blythe would likely send him a worried look, to which he smiled trying to simply calm her. He knew her motherly instincts would likely kick right in. But he didn’t need a mother; he needed something else.
“I have been doing better than usual Blythe. I don’t feel as sick as I have in the past. But I know I am still not well…yet. Maybe Rak’keli will grace me…then again maybe not. One never knows the ways of gods and goddesses.”
