A Bard in Need of Adventure

33rd of Winter, 511 AV

The last few notes of the song echoed throughout the cavern. An uneasy silence filled the room, only to be followed by the applause and cheers of the people of Red Diamond. Pathien, in his Vantha form, smiled slightly, and walked through the crowd of whistling and yelling men, and sat down at an unoccupied table. Soon, his song was forgotten, and replaced by the next performer. He silently listen to the performers soothing voice. It was like flowing silk, with a catchy, fast rhythm that reminded him of the sound of multiple raindrops hitting the roof. He laid his right elbow on the table, hand on his cheek, while the left hand held a glass of beer. His gaze was looking outside, where the fierce chill was enough to freeze you in a matter of seconds. However, Pathien seemed unaffected by this chill. All he was wearing was a dark cloak that covered his whole body. He let his mind wander on simple things such as that.

A few minutes later, he began to ponder over his existence. All he did everyday was play a little song every once in a while at the tavern. His life wasn't... exciting. He wanted to do something else. Something extraordinary. He couldn't quite place his finger on it. What was it called again? Then he remembered. A quest. Going on at least one quest in his life would fulfil his satisfaction. However, being someone unaffected by age, he had quite a long time.

Pathien was actually an Ethaefal, a Son of Leth. During the night, he would appear in his true form. Ethaefal are normally patient and wise, and he was, but he also had some... unnecessary personality traits that came along with it. He was reserved, but also cold, sarcastic, and spoke with no filters. He tossed it aside, thinking that was his Vantha personality, but it still made him feel weird to think that that was actually his personality. Not once had he met an Ethaefal that was like that. Not that he met any, but still...

He was bored out of his mind. He continued to wander in the world of thoughts as he looked out the window, and listened to the performer sing.

Yuralria had been dancing to the Lutist's music, and was disappointed when she heard the telltale signs of the end of a song. Stepping down off the bar, she asked Rayvoris to pour her a mug of ale. Grabbing her pint, she took a swig and walked over the the musician. A warm fire blazed in the hearth, and she was glad for it. She lacked Morwen's gnosis unlike most of the Vantha, and her shirt, low cut in the front, and dipping at the shoulders to show the swirling mark that was Zulrav's, offered little protection from the chill of Avanthal. She finally made her way across the bar and took her seat at the musician's table. A breeze that couldn't have possible gotten into the tavern blew across the table, playing through Yura's long, red hair. One of the perks she had inherited from her Inarta blood. "I hope you don't mind if I take this seat" Yura asked in a mildly sarcastic tone Without giving him a chance to answer, she continued"No? Didn't think so. You played beautifully."

It was one of those days where Sera desperately needed a break. She had been dealing with family drama, mostly with her sister. Either way, it was wearing her down. The young Vantha girl found herself wandering Avanthal just trying to find a place to enjoy herself and think. She wasn't sure exactly what she wanted to do, but she wanted to do something relaxing. Eventually she found herself in front of the Red Diamond Tavern. Music was being played. People seemed relatively joyful and it was a place to relax. So she went in. Her cloak wasn't clean, her long hair wasn't brushed, and her eyes were dark amber. All in all, she looked like a mess, and that was just because she She got a glass of water and looked around for a place to sit. Being drawn to the fire, Sera decided to sit near it, not necessarily for the warm, but for something to watch. Being a Vantha, marked by Morwen, she wasn't bothered by the cold.

While she sat there, her attention changed from the fire to the people around and what they were all doing. She took off her cloak and held it in her lap, while watching. One hand fingered with her charm necklace hung from her neck. She felt every charm individually as she looked around. Her necklace meant so much to her. All the love her father had put into it. She then found herself admiring the whole Tavern. This wasn't a place she usually hung out at. Nor did she ever actually look around it. Maybe if she met some people who came here often she'd return. Though, going up to people just because wasn't her best quality. Sera had her shy moments, especially when she wasn't having a great day, and when she wasn't exactly looking her best.

It was strange how she wasn't doing anything exciting or story worthy. She wasn't even plotting her escape from Avanthal. Well, her upcoming adventure searching for... freedom? Sera didn't even have her departure on her mind. She thought of people, how everyone's lives were intertwined, even when they tried to avoid it. She thought of people's ambitions and dreams. Some were accomplished, some were forgotten. She thought of bravery and happiness, anger towards petty things and despair. In the end, she thought of love. It was then she noticed that her glass of water was empty. Wrinkling her nose, Sera got to her feet.

That was when terror struck. Well, to Sera it was terrible. The glass slipped out of her hand and she failed to catch it. She gasped loudly. The glass shattered all over the floor. Her eyes turned to a gray. Refusing to make eye contact with anyone she stood there, frozen in place, embarrassed and on the verge of tears.

A Bard in Need of Adventure (OPEN)

Postby Taithrosa Eldytia on December 29th, 2011, 4:52 am

Taithrosa had listened to the man playing his instrument. It was decent and pleasent to the ear and took the ethaefel back in his mind to other times and places. In his minds ear he heard the music of long gone bards from ages with out end. There wasn't any concreate memories but except for his past life there rarely ever was it was just the memory of the memories. He was sure that in the realm of Leth he had clear memories, but for now they were blurred. He did remember quiet evenings with his fellow doctors as they listened to music in the grand city of the akalaks.

He had always enjoyed singing himself but hadn't ever in his memory made it a career in his past lives. He applauded as the music stopped but watched the musician as he walked over towards a empty table and sat brooding. The silver eyed Akalak watched him for a moment before standing up and walking over to the man. The seven foot man carefully chose his path so as not to run anyone over or push anyone down.

Once he had arrived he noticed another person had joined the bard at the table. Taith looked at the red haired woman and nodded his head. He also wore a cloak to help with the cold and underneath it you could see that he was wearing a black body quiet and shimmer kilt and sash an indicator of the order he was a member of.

"Do you mind if I join." The deep voice said as his silver eyes looked back and forth between the two. He paused as he heard a glass break on the floor. Looking up the handsome face with its gentle lines looked at the young woman who was now standing there not looking around. He smiled at her and stepped over to help her. "Let me help you clear and up."
Do you think that you could ever, Through all eternity,
Find out the generation Where Gods began to be?
Or see the grand beginning, Where space did not extend?
Or view the last creation, Where Gods and matter end?
Me thinks the Spirit whispers, “No man has found ‘pure space,’
Nor seen the outside curtains, Where nothing has a place.”

A Bard in Need of Adventure (CLOSED)

Postby Pathien on December 29th, 2011, 3:45 pm

Pathien was surprised to see somebody joining his table. The woman was a bit on the short side, and her hair was straight, with vivid red hair that flowed and danced in the wind. Pathien had noticed her dancing along to his music a little while ago.

"No? Didn't think so. You played beautifully."

Pathien looked up, surprised by this acknowledgement. However, he did not care much for strangers, and doing the usual thing, he said:

"Mhm. Thank you very much."

He turned away, and continued to look out the window. This may have been a bit rude, but for one, Pathien didn't really care. He was a loner, or at least, he wanted to be. Being in the presence of another life form wasn't very rewarding. They were only noisy, and obnoxious. Pathien had forced himself to act and sound polite, but given the expression the woman gave him, he assumed that she was offended. Even though, he ignored it and continued to look out the window. However, it might be rewarding to have people on a quest. It wasn't like he could do anything, other than playing music, and not many people would consider a lute a weapon. Actually, nobody would consider a lute for a weapon.

"Do you mind if I join?"

Another one? Pathien turned to see a silver eyed Akalak, standing over seven feet tall, looming over him. He sighed, and quietly murmured:

"Yes. I don't mind..."

He looked up to see his reaction, but saw that he wasn't there. Curious, he looked around the room, and saw that he was helping out another woman, with messy hair and dark amber eyes. He sighed again. People were so quick to help other people. What was with these people? Although he knew he couldn't accurately call them people. 2 of them were Vanthas (like his disguise), and the other one was an Akalak. He wondered if it was even right to call them "people".

By this time, there were 3 people (including him) around his table. He wondered if the woman who dropped her glass was going to join them. If she did not, he wouldn't really care, as she seemed a bit too timid to go on a quest. His thoughts reared backwards, and soon, he was wondering where he became passionate about this "questing experience".

He looked at the two other beings, who were staring back at him. An uneasy silence was upon the table. He wondered whether or not he should introduce his idea of going on a quest. However, he didn't really know these people, and he didn't know where to start on a quest. Besides, it wasn't really his nature to pull stunts like that, so the only thing he could do was stay quiet and hope for somebody to say something.
