Name: Pauk
Birthday: Spring 12 510AV
Gender: Male
Sex: Hermaphrodite (Don't ask.)
Looks
If you were to look at Pauk completely naked, you would probably be extremely confused and have no idea what gender the thing you're looking at is. He has light-brown hair, tan skin, and different coloured eyes (Blue on the right, golden on the left.) Depending on what Pauk is wearing, he could pass for both male and female. Unlike the Myrians he surrounds himself with, Pauk keeps his hair short and bone-free. Whether this is a fashion statement or he doesn't want to bother about longer hair is to be decided. He prefers to go as male, though. An interesting feature are the extremely pale orange stripes that cross his back as a human, barely visible except to those that look. Of course, Pauk himself doesn't know this, because it's awfully hard to get a good look at your own back. The stripes are completely natural, not tattoos, but are probably a trait carried on from tiger to human.
As a tiger, he is a golden tabby tiger with white legs and stripes a slightly darker orange than the rest of him. His eyes have the same colour as in human form, and his tail's stripes are black. Because hunting is rather difficult when your legs scream out against the forest floor, Pauk will frolic about in mud to blend in with the forests of Falyndar.
--as of Summer 512, Pauk is severely underweight and malnourished.--
Concept
Pauk hides his hermaphroditednessIt's a word I swear. with an unexpected ferocity. It is probably his most prized secret. About everything else, he's an open book. He spends his days wandering about Taloba, searching for a suitable bondmate, but of course, has not found one yet.
Pauk loves to nap. When he's not wandering around aimlessly, eating, hunting or painting, Pauk will nap just about anywhere. The roof of his small house, by the door of a random shop, or in a sunny place.
While everyone else is training, Pauk would rather spend his days painting and practicing his technique to perfection. He paints, not completely because he enjoys it, but because he wants to impress Teer enough to bond with him. Teer was a painter, so Pauk's thought process leads him to believe that the more he paints, the better his chances of bonding with him. Often times, you will see him dangerously balancing different objects so he can reach the higher areas of the walls, not caring if he breaks anything. He wants to learn the different plants around Falyndar that he can make into the perfect paint, although he hasn't had enough time to fully concentrate on the task, and he has yet to purchase a something to keep the plants in, a mortar and pestle to grind them up, other such things that he would need. To add to the list of why he is very odd, Pauk prefers to paint directly onto the walls of his house instead of a canvas. Painting most of his pictures by memory, he will sometimes stare at something for an exceedingly long time, unnerving some people. His favorite subjects to paint are the Myrians: daily work, fighting, Goddess-Queen Myri telling him to stop being so lazy and sleeping in the middle of a busy road...he also enjoys painting cats. Lots and lots of cats, all kind of cats. Pauk really likes cats, which is understandable because he is one himself.
History
Pauk was born from a wild boar kelvic [father] and a rat kelvic [mother]. When the father took a first look at Pauk, he stormed out of the house mumbling obscenities and an incoherent jumble of words. Pauk never saw him again, but it was rumored he died after getting drunk somehow and brawling with a very angry group of Myrians after he insulted Myri for some unknown reason.
His mother, Rayna, and the midwife, on the other hand, attempted to decide on what gender to call Pauk. They eventually chose male, not considering how being a hermaphrodite would effect him in the future.
Rayna was a very...straightforward woman. She told Pauk what she wanted him to do, and at what time he was to do it. She made sure he always completed his chores quickly and without complaint. Along with that, she never let Pauk take a nap no matter how much he wanted to. The days leading to Rayna's death left her completely unstable and confused, and she stopped ordering Pauk around, or doing anything except fight her reflection.
It all started when Rayna decided to go on a walk. She had told Pauk directly that she would be back in 1 bell. She never expected to stray far, but she did, straight to the Reflecting Pools. While she admired the satellite pool's mysterious effects, she started hearing her voice in her mind making her feel guilty, ashamed, and terrified. But she was unable to look away. Slowly, the reflection rose out of the pool in a mirror image of Rayna herself. They fought for at least 3 days when Pauk thought to look for her. Following her scent, he found her battling an invisible enemy in the middle of the forest. All Pauk could do was watch, and he didn't dare go near her for fear of getting hurt. For days Rayna was locked in an epic battle between herself, and unable to overcome it, she collapsed, dead from exhaustion. Because she was not Myrian, her soul wasn't sent to Myri to be judged. He can't help to keep a hidden anger at his mother for leaving him while he was so young, alone, and unable to live by himself. He managed though, using instinct to learn how to hunt and being self taught on the aspects of painting. Pauk still lives in the small house, more like a shack than anything, that he had lived in along with his mother.
Rayna's BondmateRayna was bonded to a Myrian, Teer of the Coloured Hands. After Rayna had died, he took no interest in Pauk and left him to fend for himself. But before that, he taught Pauk the basics of painting, as he was a painter himself.
