[Syliras Location] The Welcome Home

Ethne was almost blown away with all the amazing smells that assaulted her nose. She smiled at the smells, then turned her head up to look at the kind looking woman at the door. She answered timidly, even though the kind warmth from the inside of the home was already melting her fearful exterior. She spoke in a monotone, having obviously rehearsed the conversation a thousand times in her head.
"H-hello. My name is Ethne. I cannot afford to pay for my apartment anymore, and my parents are- gone. May I please stay here?"

Ethne

Aenysa cocked her head to the side for a moment, her long wavy locks spilling over her shoulder. A look of confusion appeared upon her face, "Well, that just won't do. I'm Aenysa, and our house is always open to children who need it. You shouldn't be paying for anything yet, you're still so young. Come in, come in. What happened to your parents?" she asked a bit absently, before quickly adding, "Oh, you don't have to say, if you don't want to."

As Aenysa led Ethne into the sitting room a few children of varying ages watched from the sidelines, curious at who the newest visitor was, but shy enough to keep themselves out of immediate view. They whispered to themselves, quite unsure of the girl's appearance. Her hair was strange, her skin was strange, and her eyes were strange. None of them could work up the courage to interfere with Aenysa's speech, "Children are always welcome here, all I ask is that they participate in keeping the place tidy with me and get involved with the academics. We all help to keep this place looking like it does. I guess some children don't like chores, but we have fun with them here, and we have some very nice things. It's very important as boys and girls become young men and women to pick a path in this life. Do you have any interests, Ethne?"

Ethne walked with the woman, answering her anyway before she continued with her speech.
"My parents just got sick, and they didn't make it."

She walked with Aenysa into a sitting area. She could hear the hushed voices of the other children in the house whispering to each other, but couldn't make out their words. As Aenysa spoke, Ethne went over everything in her head. She didn't mind cleaning, that was easy, and her apartment always looked nice because of that. Academics? Did that mean she was going to do schooling? She had never been schooled, as both her parents worked and she was rejected from the more public schools at the request of some 'concerned' parents. Interests? Ethne loved playing her Shakuhachi, and was a great boxer. But she didn't think that Aenysa would think too highly of her boxing pursuits, and perhaps it would be better to keep silent about that.
"Interests? I'm very good at playing my Shakuhachi, it's a flute, and I enjoy woodcarving, but I'm not that good at it."

"Oh, you poor dear. Well there is certainly a place for you here." if Aenysa was concerned about Ethne's condition, she didn't let on. The woman seemed genuinely concerned although it was possible that her natural instinct to care for children was overriding any possible worries she had about the albino's physical appearance. Inside Aenysa was simply concerned about making sure that Ethne had the proper care, and most importantly the proper guidance. Now was the most important time in the girls life to ensure that she would become an honest and kind young woman.

"Oh, quite the artist then? That's great, creativity will get you far. An instrument requires discipline and dedication, those are good traits. Well Ethne you can feel free to stay here, we have a few basic rules to maintain order, but nothing too difficult. Everyone sleeps by the twentieth bell, and we awake at the fifth bell. Breakfast is at the sixth bell, lunch is at the twelfth bell, and dinner is at the eighteenth bell. Everyone has to look at the 'big chalk board' and choose at least two chores a day, and initial them when they're done. Even me. I teach both knowledge and crafts, different children enjoy different things, but I ask you at least choose one. That's all! Does it sound like something you could do?" the woman asked, hands resting quietly in her lap.

Ethne nodded with each point that Aenysa spoke of. Ethne was actually becoming very happy that Aenysa wasn't wary of her just because of how she looked, and she was actually starting to look forward to staying here. Nodding and smiling, she replied.
"I can do that, thank you, Miss Aenysa."
Her initial fear of entering the home had already worn off by now. She was beginning to believe that living at the Welcome Home may possibly be better than living on her own. After all, she may actually make a friend. Although she would make sure no one found out about her passion for boxing, as that may be looked down upon. After all, boxing was a form of brawling, and most people didn't like that.

"Well that settles it then." pressing down on her lap Aenysa stood up and called out in a loud, powerful voice, "Children! No need to hide, we've got a new friend today. This is Ethne, and everyone make sure to be extra nice to her since she's new, just like you all were once!" one wouldn't imagine that volume could come from a woman with Aenysa's outward appearance, and quite a few children hiding around the corner cringed as they had apparently been found out. Slowly they stepped into the room, looking a bit sheepish after so easily being spotted by the keen mother of the home. A few of them offered various small hello's to Ethne, some clearly more personable, and some much more shy.

"Well, I'll have to get a room set up for you. There's many more things to learn and do around here, so we'll just take things as they come. I just ask that everybody gets along as best as we all can, since this is all our home. We need to keep it nice and safe. And remember every one, we'll be going on a nature walk in thirty chimes, so be ready!" and with that the woman disappeared up the stairs of the house in order to prepare a place for Ethne to lay her head. Compared to most of Mizahar life at the Welcome Home could have been described as simple, but it wasn't easy. Everyone was expected to do their part, and as large as the establishment was, there would always be plenty to do.

Secret :
Hey, I wasn't sure how much more you wanted to do, but if you wanted to end here that's fine. Just make sure to update your character sheet on where you're staying!
