Mura. Many would think there was little to see here besides beautiful women and awe inspiring sights. Sailors and tourists alike were wooed by the spectacles they encountered the second they set foot off of their boats in the harbor. All seemed peaceful here; and Mura was indeed a place of peaceful beginnings. Some came here to heal, others to study but one thing they all had in common was they all came here for a new beginning. And the Isle was the perfect place to do all of this and more. The sandy beaches would lull any broken heart, the Opal Order would heal any wound given time. But there were some that didn’t come here on their own will…No some were brought here by happenchance.

The Konti spoke of a place not well known, it was almost as well guarded a secret as the Crystal Caverns. It was a tower in the north east area of the island not too far from the lake. There were rumors that someone had disappeared there, but the interesting part was that none knew who. It was almost comical that in an island of healers and seers that none could say who had left and fallen a victim to the tower. But so few knew so little about the tower in the first place. It was rumored that it was haunted, most Konti stayed away from it. And many mothers scared their children at night with stories of the tower and the ghost that haunted it still. But those were again all rumors that someone had likely concocted up for no good reason.

Funny thing about rumors was they were usually based in some fact. Someone had to have a reason to say such things about the place. There just had to be a reason. But it was winter, and the gardens were covered with snow, it was actually almost beautiful in a way to see some of the colorful beauty covered by a catchall white sheet. The Starry Gardens were largely empty this time of year. But if one ventured into them they would see that there were still footprints in the snow of both animals and people. Seemed the Konti still enjoyed the gardens even in the snow and cold. But today was a little warmer than usual. Maybe some of the snow would melt and water the earth. You never knew.

OOCAny interested parties please start in the Starry Night gardens

Steps In The Snow [Seasonal Quest]

Postby Avina on January 9th, 2012, 9:12 pm

Avina thumbed through her tarot cards as she walked the garden. She always found the motion therapeutic. Snow still coated the garden, glistening white in the sunlight. And there were footprints, great swathes of them, of woman and animal.

She rarely saw others here, but she knew other Konti did come here. The gardens were large, it was easy to miss people, and she figured people visited in the evenings and night. At night, Mura became a spiritual haven of tranquility and serenity.

Finding a large tree near the centre of the gardens, Avina settled down beneath it, giving her deck one last shuffle. Closing her eyes and calming herself, she drew a card.

Opening her eyes to view it, she raised an eyebrow. The Tower. She was unsure of what it meant, as she cast her vision over two figures, flung from the upper floor of a lightning struck tower. It was usually an ominous card.

Yet here, amongst the snow covered ground and ice laden trees, that seemed like a world away.

Steps In The Snow [Seasonal Quest]

Postby Karsh on January 13th, 2012, 5:48 pm

Winter 17th 511 AV
Karsh plowed through the drifts of snow, his arms and legs moving rhythmically and efficiently. He had been cooped up so much recently, this simple action felt wonderful. At first he had been hesitant to wander out into the snow, but quickly lost his inhibitions after seeing children playing in the white powder. Karsh sighed, content, and slowed to a loping walk. His fur was soon liberally coated with snow, giving him a curious speckled appearance. Rather than shake it off, Karsh simply changed his fur color to match it, making him nearly invisible among the piles of snow.

Before long, he reached a silvery gray building with a plaque on the side reading 'If you can imagine it, you can create it'. Stepping into the building, Karsh noticed a group of chairs and tables that were curiously empty. With a shrug, he walked through the door on the other side of the building and into the garden. Walking among the hedges and trees, he noticed a girl with a deck of cards sitting underneath a tree. Not wanting to disturb her or the peace of the gardens, he simply sat down a few feet away, allowing her to make the first move.

Avina had been so caught up in her doubt and worry over the tarot card, that she hadn't noticed the Jamoura settling down nearby. Shuffling the cards away, she looked up, smiling brightly.

The Tower, and it's calamitous associations, would have to wait.

This was only the second Jamoura she had seen in her life. Once at the docks. And now here, in the Starry Gardens. She managed to catch his sight, and felt foolish marvelling over him. He was still a person, despite his appearance.

"Hello," she said softly, "I didn't notice you there."

And in the same breath, she tapped into her Gnosis, offering a silent prayer to Avalis. She found herself smiling again, temple pulsing just a little with the fluid motions of her divinatory skill. It was like a calm sea, water rising and falling with the happiness of nature's song. This Jamoura had led a normal life. She could get no more from him, except the inner serenity in his heart. And she needed no more. That was enough.

Steps In The Snow [Seasonal Quest]

Karsh smiled slightly when the woman greeted him normally. He loved it in Mura, the weather, the Konti, the culture, and especially how freely knowledge flew from one person to the next. It wasn't the Spires, but it was a wonderful place. Still though, it did get tiring when people flinched away from him at every turn, or even tried to capture him. Thankfully he had an awful lot of patience, and the skill to defend himself from would-be captors, but it grated on him. It was like a worm in an otherwise sweet fruit, or the single flaw in a gem. The beauty around it only made it that much more irritating.

With this considered, it's hardly surprising that a kind, interesting looking stranger who knew what he was made such an attractive friend for Karsh.
"Hello there" he murmured, his voice low and smooth. Karsh noticed that she had just tucked away a pack of tarot cards. "I didn't know that tarot cards were used by anyone by charlatans and mountebanks" he mused "I wonder how they work..."

Abruptly he was struck with a number of possibilities. Did they somehow tell the future, but only in the hands of someone who already could? Did they depend on the Djed of the person using them, or did they operate on the Djed that was present in most living or unliving things? Moreover, how did they Use that Djed to see the future? Perhaps the girl knew...?

Karsh shook his head. That was silly. He, too often, let questions get in the way of what he meant to be doing. That, he supposed, was the failing of his race. Either way, he wanted to make a friend of this Konti, and so he would.

"My name is Karsh" He said abruptly " What is yours?"

Steps In The Snow [Seasonal Quest]

As she tucked the cards away, she noticed the Jamoura looking at them. His eyes were curious. Many things about the Konti were curious to outsiders. She smiled back at him.

He named himself Karsh. He spoke suddenly, his voice lacked finesse but she didn't mind.

"My name is Avina. Rainesgift, is my family name." She looked around at the snow. What an odd sight, a Jamoura in Winter's embrace. From the little she knew about The Spires, they had little in the way of frost and snow. "What bring you to Mura?" she asked politely. "And don't worry, you can come a little closer. I'm not scared - I know that you must get that reaction from some people."

Her powers of divination had soothed any nerves she might have held. She knew this... Karsh was a good man. Good enough to trust, at least for now.

"Look at all the footprints. It's always so quiet here, but I know a lot of people visit the Starry Gardens in the small hours..."

OOCSorry this was a slow reply - I was holding off to see if anyone else would join the seasonal quest. It may end up being just us, but I'm sure it will be fun!

Steps In The Snow [Seasonal Quest]

Postby Naila on January 21st, 2012, 9:17 pm

OOCHello all :). This is my first post with this character, and I am excited to get to RP with both of you. Lets have fun :)

Cold and snow... winter's embrace had come and left its make on the beautiful isle of Mura. The sky was bring with the dazling rays of the sun reflecting off the white of the snow, and the blue of the never ending passage of the sky often drew Naila's gaze upward as she made her way through the streets. Shivering, the girl pulled the cloak tighter about her thin shoulders, brushing back a strand of white hair behind her ear. The change in weather had brought a little more strength to the girls limbs, and as such she had decided to venture out into the cold while her legs were still able to hold her weight.

Oh it is truly amazing when the cloak of Morwen settles on this place. My body always feels so full of life when a blanket of snow covers the ground. Despite the occasional shiver, Naila was pleased with how she felt this day. It was as if a fog had been lifted from her mind and the usually weakness in her limbs was but a memory. Scrunthing up her knows and smiling she thought, But still... It would be best not to strain myself too far...

The gardens quickly came into view. It was a place of quite beauty, a place where flora bloomed and flourished with life and energy. Around her there were whispers, calls of the heart and soul that followed her every step as always. None of them, however, were great pits of anguish or despair, which were rare events on the isle, and so Naila contented herself with strolling down through the winding path into the garden, paying no mind to the whisperings that flitted across her psyche.

As she walked Naila's mind shifted over many thought. Her garden came to her mind for a moment, and the girl wondered if she should find a new vase for her Lily... Her attention was caught, however, by a peculiar sight in one of the flowerbeds. Stopping and bending closer the girl saw that a strange insect had caught one of its feet beneath a small rock about the size of her thumb. A smile lit her lips as she straighten, folding her arms so that her right rested on her left. Closing her eyes, soft words of a melody fell from her lips like dewdrops of a morning cascade. The notes were slow and melodic, ringing with the truth of Naila's spirit and spoke of passion and kindness.

With the words resonating through her, Naila let her concentration shift to the joints at her right wrist. The song's octave increased as the girl sang her djed into motion, setting it to push against her astral form until the wrist was set free. Then, with notes that waved up and down she began calling out her tune to her arm, pushing out with her djed to free the limb from the confines of human flesh. A final note released her fingers, and the now fully exposed astral arm settled just over her arm of flesh and bone. The entire process only took a couple of chimes, and Naila flexed her invisible fingers, testing their response to her commands.

Her attention returned once more to the insect, trapped beneath the little rock. Reaching forward her released arm stretched down to lift the tiny obstruction from the poor creature, and a satisfied smile touched Naila's lips as she watched it scurry off. As Naila was beginning to sing her verse for restoring her arm to its home of blood and bone, her attention was caught by the sound of voices not too far. Bending around a tree Naila was met with a large vissage of fur and muscle that almost completely obstructed her vision. Blinking, Naila took a step back to view the form a bit closer, and what she saw surprised her.

Is it a talking animal, or a very hairy man? Naila wondered to herself. Tilting her head a bit more the girl also saw the form of another Konti across from the Jamoura. Closing her eyes, Naila could hear the whispers of her heart calling out to her mind. The voice, however, was soft, almost unnoticable. The tone was one of concern... and for a moment Naila thought she heared the word "tower" come to the surface, a bit louder than the rest. However, as the Jamoura sat the whispers died to almost nothing, and Naila found her curiosity piqued.

Opening her eyes Naila stepped out from behind her tree, making a slow circuit to the side of the table, trying not to interrupt their discussion. Her eyes trained on Karash as she rounded his large back, his great height forcing her to look up to see his face. From here there were few whispers at all, and Naila smiled with relief, for at the woman's words what little murmuring she heard from the Jamoura were all but silenced.

Fidgeting slightly to the side, Naila waited until she was acknowledged by one of the two. Incling her head in greeting Naila spoke in a voice that was just barely above a whisper, '"H-hello... M-my name is Naila... It, um..." The girls pale cheeks flushed as she fidgeted and struggled through the introductoin, "I am sorry but... I-I did not mean to interrupt but... M-may I join you?"

Her pale eyes looked between the two, uncertainty written on her features as she bit her lip in anticipation. I feeling of light headiness came of Naila for a moment, and without thinking she reached out with her astral arm, pulling a small chair a few meters away close to her so that she could sit. To any who did not know of projection it may have seemed as if the chair had moved on its own. Settling down, Naila folded her delicate hands in her lap, using her left to position the right one before looking up at the two once more.

Steps In The Snow [Seasonal Quest]

Postby Cachet on January 29th, 2012, 10:06 pm

OOCOk this thread isn’t closed yet but the thing is I don’t know if too many more are going to join it…*shrug* so we will see

There was a strange meeting taking place in the gardens here in the Konti isle. Two Konti and a rather large Jamoura were having an interesting time discussing tarot cards, future reading and the likes. But there were far stranger things going on tonight. Karsh would be the one that noticed it first. Maybe it was because he was the most likely to notice tracks in the snow.

Some of the tracks looked rushed, the spacing was long as if they were taking hurried strides toward the north…but behind them was a set of very unusual tracks that looked like the snow had just been lightly touched by a figure of some kind. The footprints seemed…panicked almost as they ran off toward the north into the silver forest. It was an odd occurrence especially for the Isle. But it was also a challenge of some kind, now how to go about meeting this challenge was another thing all together.

The footprints would fade once they entered the forest, they became erratic and unable to be followed easily. But one thing would be for sure. They were tracking north. But to where exactly was another question. The footprints seemed themselves to be mixed, one set definitely looked to belong to a Konti and the other a man but whatever the third set of prints were…well that was completely impossible to tell. They seemed ethereal almost…like they didn’t belong on this plain at all.

OOCMy next post in this thread will be one week from today. SO get in what you want and I will post again then

Steps In The Snow [Seasonal Quest]

Postby Avina on January 30th, 2012, 10:30 am

Avina looked up to the quivering voice of a fellow Konti. "Of course," she said, motioning for this Naila to join them. "I'm Avina, by the way."

As the pale haired girl moved towards them, Avina became aware of a pattern in the footprints she had commented on. There was a trail going north. Nothing strange about that, she thought initially, but accompanying male and female footprints was something else. They were faint prints, but they were neither Konti, nor human. They weren't even Jamoura.

"How strange..." she said quietly, wondering if the others would hear here. She moved around them, gazing as if they were some exotic jewel from Ahnatep. She was suddenly very intrigued, feeling compelled to follow the footprints. The tarot had spoken of the Tower. Calamitous fortune. Discovery, and change. Perhaps this trail was the answer to her reading.
