Naila

Postby Naila on January 18th, 2012, 11:17 pm

Name: Naila
Race: Konti
Age: 21
Birthdate: Winter 486 AV
Gnosis: First Mark of Avalis

AppearanceImage
Straight, delicate locks of white hair fall upon thin shoulders and pale skin. Her eyes are a pale, icy blue that almost seem to see beyond what she is looking at, giving her a rather dreamy expression. Standing at a mere 5’4, Naila appearance speaks of fragility and a meek personality, and due to her sickness her thin frame does not boast more than a few modest curves, certainly not ones that would draw the eye of some men. She often wears a kimono like outfit, or a dress of white that is decorated with lilies in bloom. On her left thigh Avalis’ lily of Divination blooms in a shimmering blue that reflects the color of Naila’s eyes, and when she swims at night its glow is a soft testament to the girls own faith.

Naila (WIP)

Postby Naila on January 18th, 2012, 11:38 pm

Personality
As soft spoken as her appearance suggests, Naila is one who dislikes any form of conflict. Her voice is rarely raised for any reason, and the girl is never one to judge based on first impressions. She always tries to see the good in people, sometimes foolishly devoted to her ideal that everyone is kind on the inside, and this philosophy is what guides many of her actions. Her kindness knows no bounds, and her generosity borders on an obsession. Perhaps in part due to her own weakness, Naila does not wish to see anyone suffer in any way. One has but to ask and the girl shall give up the last of her food, or even the clothing on her back if she believed it would silence the voices of despair from within the persons soul.
Image
No one is quite sure why, but Naila has always been stricken with a weak constitution. Prone to sickness and tired easily, Naila spends much of her time reading or writing poetry in the gardens around Mura. Her body is fragile, and sometimes even the effort of standing to walk is enough to cause her to go pale and tremble. Some impart this weakness to her gift, and others believe that the use of Divination may have caused her bad health. However, no one knows for certain, for despite all of her physical imparities Naila still posses a mind like a steal trap. She is quick to pick up on many things, and her love of reading sees to it that she has plenty of knowledge on various subjects. Always up for a good conversation, Naila welcomes open discussion on any subject, unless that subject may lead to another’s pain.

Frailty
Ever since she was young Naila has suffered from many illnesses. She tires easily, and the girl often has to sit and rest after even a short stroll in the sun. However, at night when the moon is shinning Naila finds that her body seems to have a bit more energy. Perhaps it is due to the cooler temperatures or the softer light, but the girl can often be seen strolling the waters edge by moonlight.

Despite her weakness Naila still believes that she can better herself, and so she practices her small amounts of magic on a daily basis. At times she takes things a bit too far, falling into fits of coughing so heavy that blood speckles her palms. Over giving is an easy thing for frail Konti and so she must be careful with even the most menial of magic.

Konti GiftHelp Desk approved
Naila’s gift, as well as her curse, is to hear the inner struggles of those who are near her. She can hear as the soul cries out in anguish or desperation, the inner turmoil of others floods her mind as indistinguishable whispers that tell a story of pain and suffering more often than not. The stronger the confused turmoil is the louder it rings in her psyche, and at times it can be so great as to give her headaches or migraines. Though she cannot always make out the words, Naila can at times get a general feeling of what is twisting the inner soul in knots and causing the person such clashing emotions. The range of this “gift” ins rarely more than 30 ft or so, but if she is within range of a crowd of people she may be bombarded with shouts and whispers to the point of causing her physical pain. Perhaps the greatest drawback to her ability is that she cannot always distinguish which voice belongs to whom, and so if two people stand close to her and both have extreme inner conflict Naila will be unable to tell who was who. It is a gift and a curse at once, and because of it Naila tries to her utmost to silence the voices cries through her kindness and generosity. Perhaps, she believes, if the voices are silent then the person is truly at peace.

Faith

Through the blooming lily of divination, Naila's eyes are open to occurrences of the past. Her mind is as agile as her body is frail, and it is not uncommon for her to sit and watch the flow of djed through the Chavena for countless chimes. Despite the dangers, Naila feels a certain joy, a closeness with her Goddess when she reads the lines of the past, and through her faith she hopes to open the doors to the present and future as well.

The voices that plague her often send Naila to Avalis, praying for the Goddess to reveal the pains of others so that she may silence their whispers. It has become an obsession almost, her need to discover the hurt of others, and often she will call upon the Goddess' mark to gift her mind the vision to see what the hearts of others cry out to her mind. She relies heavily on the Goddess for support when using her gifts, for if the Goddess of Visions has Naila in her sights, the girl feels that she can overcome anything.

Housing

Her cottage is simple and possessed of a beauty all of its own. Though it is small, Naila loves her home and sees to it that it is always kept clean and neat in case any visitors were to stop by. The front path leading up to the door is lined with a variety of flowers natural to Mura. Often Naila will be found among these blossoms, tending to and caring for the fragile buds as they grow and bloom. The cottage itself is of the typical Konti style, white stone walls that are slightly rounded to mirror the shape of a sea shell. Flowers adorn much of the front, from keeping vines to prickly shrubs the whole front is filled with the sent of fresh clippings and the sweet aroma of nature.

Inside is a single room that is neither lavished nor barren. In the far left corner is a rolled up mat that Naila uses for sleeping. She does not always sleep well through the night, so more often than not the mat is rolled up and tied neatly to the side. A single table and a chair are directly to the left of the door, a wall being on the right, and there is usually some form of vase, makeshift or non, containing a single blossoming Lily. The flower is always in full bloom no matter the season, and its rich blue color almost seems to glow when put out in the moon light. There is also a large chest which holds what few things Naila owns in this world, and the rest of the small space is left free of clutter of filth.

Heirloom
The flower that always sits on her table was a gift from her mother, a beautiful lily that does not seem to wither as long as it is cared for. Naila often wonders at the beautiful flower, and no matter how she tries she cannot discover the secrets of the lily's preservation. The flower serves as a last testimony to the woman who raised Naila, and the girl sees to its care on a daily basis.
