No excuses (Banir, Oluse)

Postby Banir Ironwood on January 21st, 2012, 6:53 am

Banir's blood was still alight his right hand clattering lightly, he began to pick out the splinters that had penetrated his glove. On one of the splinters he took out was light red blood that had glints of silver in it. It looked like someone had sprinkled light bits of silver into his blood. He dropped the sliver of wood on the floor rubbing his clawed hand groaning lightly. 'Ignore the pain! Are you not a man now? I can't believe this, pathetic mutt.' It was a harsh voice, one he knew all too well shouting at him from within his mind. He quickly cast off the thought and looked about the room.

The situation was slowly defusing with Oluse reasuring him. His breath was returning to normal and his muscles loosened up a bit. Tensing slightly when they turned his attention to him but he was calm enough to be considered a threat. The large man rested on the table now at ease by Oluse's offer of security. The deep viberant ruby red slowly dulled in his eyes as he looked about the room. A soft dull ringe of green floated near the edge of his eye. Though red still dominated them he was at least feeling other emotions now besides solid rage. He struggled to make his words momentarily ignoring Alea, as he tried to speak with more certianty.

"I, I am not sure what an allergy is. I've never eaten a drug, I do not fully know what it is." He barely had time to answer before he started to notice Alea. Slowly he turned his head and suddenly was thrown off guard. She was staring right into his eyes it put him off balance as he backed his head away to give him some space. 'Get him to Mura?' he hadden't thought of serious travel plans to Mura before. He just assumed he might've been able to hire on a merchant caravan. Change over caravans when he could and eventually get a ship. Alea seemed to either have a bigger plan or a better one. But what was preplexing him more was the fact that she wanted to help him get there. Alea had no real reason to, she had a good life here.

He decided not to think about it as he sighed behind his concealing scarf. He was relaxed now, his heart had slowed down, his breathing regulated. Banir's broad shoulders shifted and cracked when he rolled them. It sounded almost like rocks grinding against each other his shoulderguards clattering quite compaired to his bones. Waiting paitently for Oluse to mix the oil for his sore leg. He could still feel the muscle weakly whispering pain. 'I think I landed on a rock.' Trying to remember if he did he couldn't quite remember. This caused his usual loop of thoughts.
"Where life leads me, is where I shall go. The greater question is, who is willing to accompany me on such a long travel?"

No excuses (Banir, Oluse)

Postby Oluse on January 21st, 2012, 8:08 am

Oluse gave an odd look to Alea. A look between confusion, suspect and concern. He mostly wondered if she felt feint. She wasn't yelling, or trying to hurt him. In fact, she almost seemed to care about somebody other than herself. He couldn't help but think perhaps she had grown as a person since he last saw her in Denval. Oluse fought a smile which tried with great vigor to dominate the corners of his lips. Could it be that Alea Davenport truly cared for another individual, had she found love, or had she somehow become a selfless person? There was only one detail stopping him from eagerly accepting the request.

"What's Mura?" His brow creased slightly, unsure what exactly she was asking, and then cast a look to the calm Banir. Banir seemed dangerous, but in control for the time. He wondered why control seemed to difficult for the brute. "Banir can you tell me how you fell on the rock? Was it on your leg, or another part of your body? And would you mind if I took a closer look at your leg?"

He had accepted the man's denial of even knowing what drugs and allergies were. Satisfied with that he moved to the large chest in the corner and extracted some alchemical supplies. With a short sidetrack to the remedies shelf he pulled out one vial of yarrow extract, a large carafe of water, and another small vial of Valerian. Hardly having to focus on the practice he skillfully began the infusion by calibrated the glass instruments, and setting them up to do the mixing for him as he turned and looked toward Banir again. He did oh so love the clinic's fancy equipment. Banir had caused himself to bleed and this worried the young doctor. Not often could the self destructive survive in Mizahar, and as such Oluse wasn't sure it was safe to travel anywhere, no matter the place, with the man. His skeptical look returned to Alea.

No excuses (Banir, Oluse)

Postby Alea Davenport on January 21st, 2012, 10:33 pm

At Oluse's question, Alea realized that she also was not quite sure where Mura was. She was pretty sure it was a place... Of course, that would be the purpose of going to the library: to figure out how to get to Mura. Of course, she was completely unwilling to ever return to the library alone.

She wasn't quite sure what his skeptical look was for. Banir had returned pretty much to normal. And she was sure the clinic could afford to lose a bit of chair now and then...right? Since Banir refused to show his face, she had given up any immediate notion of helping the man, and her mind was whirling with plans of what might need to be done to arrange a long journey. This was just as well, since it distracted her from noticing that both parties seemed to be taking very little interest in her.

She managed to hold her tongue, and just wait patiently for Oluse to finish his work, whatever nonsense he was doing. She planned to drag him to the library at the earliest possible opportunity, but she supposed she might as well let Banir finish getting whatever excuse for medical treatment he'd requested in an attempt to hide his face. She wondered if she could get him to reveal it on the road, when hiding places and escape routes were more available.

OOCSorry if there's not much to react to. You guys could probably go back and forth without me until you particularly want my involvement. At this point, Alea's just waiting for you to be finished.

No excuses (Banir, Oluse)

Postby Banir Ironwood on January 22nd, 2012, 3:46 am

He took a breath and exhaled slowly, he thought that he would have to explain. He swallowed down his nervious emotions and shook his head inside his hood. While Oluse created the medical concotion he prepared himself. Humbily lowering his head Banir's voice cut into the room as he spoke sounding almost depressed.

"Mura, is a city on the White Isle. I was told, that there are highly advanced healers there. I'm looking to." He had to pause and think, his mind was stalled for several moments. He needed to think of the next few scentances carefully not wanting to reveal his full reasons he had to think of something. Quickly he reviewed what had been asked and what he had said. It took only a few more moments for him to begin his conversation.

"I'm looking to heal a sever injury there. I belive its the only place that can heal it. You may look at my leg to you're content. The pain I wish remedied, if you find it nessicary examine. I understand. I, also would like, to appologize, I had a lack of manners. If I may properly introduce myself, I am Banir Ironwood. My lack of proper conduct, I apologize for such as well." Banir had just spoken more words at once in that moment than he had to most people he's ever met. He was calm now, relaxed and normal. Also from his little scentance he had shown an intelligance that almost contrasted his outward appearance.

Shifting uncomfortably at having speak and explain himself he put arms accross his broad chest. The one clad in iron clattered as he rested it on his chest. Lifting his leg and put it on the chair he had ruined the back rest. Looking around his gaze fell upon Alea, his red eyes rimmed with a greenish yellow. Curiosity in his mind as his thoughts moved slow in his head, thinking of more questions about Alea. She wasn't mysterious, no not at all, but her actions did confuse him. The young healer at least made some sense, he sought to help, to cure injury. Alea however seemed to help one moment then baffle him by doing harm next. It was strange how she seemed to flop between these actions of help and harm. Like she could decide which one but couldn't at the same time. Banir's proplem was almost the opposite, he had no control. His emotion dominated him and there was little he could do to restrain or stop them.

No excuses (Banir, Oluse)

Postby Oluse on January 22nd, 2012, 4:15 am

As Mr. Ironwood spoke Oluse's respect for him grew immeasurably. Nothing could raise his opinion of another man more than the presentation of a strong introduction. Oluse peered into the man's eyes as the words were spoken, and felt as if he could see Banir's true nature in that moment. He was honorable and worthy of respect. And this caused Oluse to want to help him all that much more.

Oluse's expression remained somewhat stoic however as Banir described the fantastical land of advanced healers that could heal that which no others could. Part of him, the part his father built, responded immediately with doubt. Healing was not some magical art that could be mastered with such ease. No one healer has more capacity than the next. However, another part of him, a part unique to himself, saw promise in the idea. Even if just a story, what kind of healer would he be if he simply ignored the chance to learn from such masters? His eyes half closed as he imagined gaining knowledge not known to even his mentors.

When he caught the smile creeping onto his face he stopped, and cleared his mind. "Sounds like a very promising land. Though, we have truly amazing healers here as well, if you would see them. Right here in Avanthal. I've seen one pull a women from the brink of death itself." He smiled reassuringly at the man as he carefully approached, taking care to check his eyes every few moments for change. "Stop me if this hurts." He carefully listed the leg, and checked the joints and ligaments. Nothing seemed sprained or broken, and it only took about five ticks to realize Banir's own diagnosis was correct. It was uninjured, just over exerted. "Well, very good. It doesn't seem injured at all. This paste should work well for you to ease the pain."

As he turned and began to mix and gather all of the components together into a cheap wooden container, all the better for the mixture to breath, he spoke to Alea. "It's the middle of Winter, Alea. We couldn't possibly travel. Specially if we don't even know where the white isle is. Do we even know if there are really healers there? What if it is some trap. A rumour spread by cannibals, or something? You shouldn't aid in peoples excitement before you know if there is even any hope to be had." He shook his head, his words were not just for Alea but Banir and himself as well.

Sliding the lid onto the box he nodded at it, satisfied that it was fashioned properly. "These containers are poorly made sometimes, this one seems fine." He etched into the top of the box the name of the concoction in short hand, and that is was for Banir Ironwood, as he spoke offhandedly. "Make sure you don't let this freeze, or when it thaws it will separate and you'll need to come back and get me to make you more." He said unsatisfied with his work, as he handed the box over. The mixture was perfect, and he wouldn't feel any pain, but he wished the he could have done more. "When it hurts just rub a little into the spots that are bothering you. If the pain doesn't lessen after three applications come back to see me." He couldn't figure out what kind of ailment troubled the man so much. He wanted to tell Banir that no wound was so bad that a doctor wouldn't at least help. Instead he just finished with, "If you need anything else. Or would like to talk about any of your other injuries. In a more," he glanced a moment at Alea, "private situation. Then please feel free to return at any time. My name is Oluse, and I will see you any time I'm in the clinic." He made sure to look the man in the eyes as he spoke, wanting to convey that his words were truth.

No excuses (Banir, Oluse)

Postby Alea Davenport on January 22nd, 2012, 4:45 am

Alea made a disgusted noise and muttered "Idiot" at Oluse's doubts. Now that Banir was relatively calm and Oluse was no longer busy, she had no qualms about going for the boy's neck in a half-hearted attempt to throttle some sense into him. "What do you think books are for? If we want more information, we have to go look it up." She spoke slowly and distinctly in an effort to make sure he understood her, "That is why you are going to help me, which you would already know if you just PAID ATTENTION!"

His argument about it being winter only made her want to throttle him harder. "Of course we won't be stupid enough to leave in the middle of winter, but it won't be winter forever. You don't think we're going to leave on a journey without planning and preparation, do you? Is that what you did, when you left Denval, WITHOUT WARNING?!?"

OOCOluse, let me know if what I said was inaccurate, but I like to think you left Denval without saying goodbye :p

No excuses (Banir, Oluse)

Postby Banir Ironwood on January 22nd, 2012, 6:28 am

He lowered his head humbly and took the box from Oluse his red eyes lined with slow shining colours. His eyes where obviously Vanathan but his bluk and size showed he was more than just that. The shadows didn't defend him when a person was as close as Oluse was, it gave him a slight look at his face. Strong and chisled, that was what could be barely glimpsed from his shadowed face. Looking over at Alea as she started to shout he seemed to tense lightly. Her loud voice didn't trigger his rage but it seemed to put him on alert. He felt strong hostility from Alea when she spoke to Oluse. He took a step back to give them room if they sought fit to settle their differences in a more agressive way. Looking between the two he hoped he wouldn't witness a fight. Alea was likeable enough, and Oluse seemed like quite a nice person.

When Alea was done shouting he felt awkward as he slowly shifted a little away again hoping Alea wouldn't need to be restrained. His armour clinked as he moved but he did all he could to remain silent. Oluse didn't seem like the type for a fight so if Alea did ineed become agressive he wondered if he would need to intervine. But something about Alea's words implyed they knew each other. With only a rough idea of the cities dotting Mizahar, he honestly had yet to hear of Denval. Though he disliked to speak he felt curious enough to ask, meekly speaking in his rough voice.

"What, and where, is Denval?" It was a simple question but he hoped it would distract Alea from her apperant anger towards Oluse. His large bulk off away from them but his voice was strong enough to be heard. The air was tense and stale the question carried out in the air like a bell through a dull day in Avanthal.

No excuses (Banir, Oluse)

Postby Oluse on January 22nd, 2012, 7:27 pm

Alea's words were true enough. Oluse had left Denval without warning or explanation to anybody. But, it's not at if he hadn't had his reasons. But, there were reason's Oluse didn't feel comfortable telling Alea at the time. And this topic made him edgy. The seed had been sewn in Oluse's mind, however, and later when he had time to think he would realize why Alea had been so upset since meeting him in Avanthal.

He did, however answer her questions of weather he lefts with plans or not. "Well... no. I just bought fair on a boat." He blinked a few times at Alea, not really understanding her obsession with planning. He found it hard to believe that Alea did much more panning on her way to Avanthal. This hypocrisy disgruntled him farther.

Oluse's stomach did a little flip as Banir stepped away. He was starting to get sick of people stepping away whenever Alea rose her voice. If he had been any other Denvali man he would just smack Alea right then and there, and put her in her place. But Oluse had left Denval and their ways behind. He had to admit, though, with Banir tended to, he wouldn't mind a little brawl with the girl right then. His mind could even forget about the presence of the icewatch.

To Banir's questions directly primarily at Alea, Oluse muttered, "Danval is a nightmare. Located in the forgotten trash heap of Kalea. It's miserable and I wouldn't wish it upon anybody. Nor it's women!" He spat out at the end. He was sick and tired of Alea always yelling at him. He knew very well that yelling back never solved anything, it just let her win. But he didn't care. He just wanted to make her see how annoying it was when people were aggressive.

No excuses (Banir, Oluse)

Postby Alea Davenport on January 22nd, 2012, 7:46 pm

When Oluse finally dropped his facade of being perfectly nice to all creatures, Alea grinned in triumph. She gave a subtle wink to Banir to let him know that things were back to normal, and then she threw a fist at Oluse. Since she was so proud of him, she decided to spare his face, and aimed to hit him square in the chest.

Since she was fairly confident that she, as always, had the upper hand against Oluse, she felt she could spare a bit of concentration to make the fight more entertaining. Usually she refrained from speaking, since it usually gave the opponent time to react, but she was starting to realize that part of the fun was in the trash-talking. Laughing, she said, "You're just upset because you're so scrawny you could never beat a Denvali woman in a fight." She was perfectly aware of her hypocrisy in saying this; she and Oluse were possibly the two worst fighters in their generation. But the point now was to make Oluse angry, rather than to be right. Arguing was a different kind of fight.

No excuses (Banir, Oluse)

Postby Banir Ironwood on January 22nd, 2012, 8:03 pm

To say Banir was confused would be an understatement. With no idea as to what was going on he watched curious and concerned. In his mind his thoughts reeled with questions. 'Is this how others interact? Should I be doing this? Something about this doesn't seem right. Is Alea helping or hurting?' As these thoughts moved in his mind he saw Alea punch Oluse. This gave him more worry as he thought that he may have to intervene since Oluse didn't appear to be the type to fight.

Setting the box down on the table he turned to them ready to step in between if this got to far out of hand. In his mind he made light observations. In size he had an easy advantage over both of them, if he stepped between them he'd be able to act like a wall. His skin was skin and bones where tougher than a human's or Vanathan's. Though he wasn't too concerned unless one of them pulled a blade. Knowing he was stronger than both he knew he could brake up the fight. But then he began to question himself. Wondering if he was just over thinking it. Alea had winked to him, he didn't understand why she had done so. She actually seemed to enjoy insulting Oluse. It was rude and mean but he had a feeling he should wait to see what Oluse does. If he reacts violently or too violently he will step in. If he desist and the situation defuses he'll keep watching. But if Alea keeps harming Oluse, he would have to step in.

A light anxiety gripped Banir, he had never had two friends fight. Of course he never really had two friends before coming to Avanthal. As confusion gripped him he felt his chest tighten with worry and uncertainty. His metal armour clunked with each move he made, he kept raising his arms thinking it was time to intervene. He stalled each time and put them by his sides. He wasn't relaxed but waiting, a harsh voice shouted in his mind. 'You worthless idiot! You can't figure this out? You're good for nothing.' The harsh failure voice didn't stop. It kept shouting every time he thought to intervene but didn't. To him this seemed like a fight, but at the same time wasn't. In the end he stood there his mind confused and his body uncertain of action.
"Where life leads me, is where I shall go. The greater question is, who is willing to accompany me on such a long travel?"
