Time to get down to work (Oluse, Lucifel)

Postby Oluse on January 24th, 2012, 6:41 am

ooclol call me chicken, but could we leave the door open, please? I want the Icewatch to be on hand if combat breaks out. I doubt the doors in a healer clinic would close on their own anyway.

The emergency room was furnished slightly different than the room Oluse saw his less dire patients in. The table was sturdier, and housed multiple shelves in it's base, along with some open areas where various different medical supplies were housed, most liquid. The table did have some heavy leather straps bolted to it, decal with strong silver buckles. Oluse hoped he wouldn't need them. The rest of the small room held a similar desk to the other, a large closed cabinet, a stand with various different lengths of clothes, and another large chest holding various equipment.

"Ma'am. I'd like you to look at my face." He said as calmly as he could to her as his stomach churned at the sight of the wound. It looked very bad, and he wondered how long she had traveled in the snow. "Ma'am, what's your name? Do you understand common?" The last thing he needed was a patient that couldn't speak common. He prayed to the powers that were that she could understand him.

Still listening, but not waiting for a response he began giving orders to his new nurse. "Falix, get me three stretches of short cloth from that stand." He pointed over at the stand of clothes, the smallest of which were hung at the bottom, in front. He wasn't sure how much he would need, but he didn't want the Pycon wasting time grabbing all of them, the request grown by his skepticism that one would be enough.

The wounds seemed deep, but he couldn't be able to tell for sure till he got them cleaned. He hoped for her sake that there was minimal internal injury. Sieled was out, and though a single marked healer could void the Kelvic of infection, nobody present could stop internal failure. He smoothly leaned down to grab a carafe of snow melt water infused with infection fighting herbs. None were common allergies, though this didn't stop him from being nervous. His hands did not hesitate, however, for even if his mind was unsure his body knew there was no time to ask. That asking too many questions of the Kelvic would just worsen the situation.

His shirt fell from his shoulder, and as he righted himself his offhand grasped the item and tossed it into a corner, not wanting to stumble over it later, and not having the time to pull it on then. He allowed himself to come to a stop, as he looked over his patient's body again. "I'm going to take this cloak off. I won't hurt you. I'm here to help." He said as he gentally reached up to untie and throw the cloak aside. He needed to be able to see the wound clearly, and hoped the Kelvic wasn't uncomfortable exposing her nude form.

Time to get down to work (Oluse, Lucifel)

Postby Luchiana on January 24th, 2012, 7:02 am

The woman was starting to get her barings, or at least thats what it felt like but it was more than likely just her body going into shook from the injury itself and the blood loss. She had trveled a bit of a ways here and had not come the conventional route so it had taken longer. She growled again slightly then tried to calm herself. she laid down on the table moving so that her bloodied side was exposed and her arm near her head and out of his way. She knew that they were trying to help and although the instinct raged inside of her, she fought it off. The man had done nothing to harm her and was being gentle but firm with his tone. She looked up at him after laying down turning and looking up at his face, or at least where she thought hsi face was.

"My name...is Lucifel. I can understand you well enough...but hard to hear at the moment...sounds like your a hunred miles off" her voice was almost a whisper. Her red eyes slipped closed ad she let her head fall back to the side where it was easier on her neck. She could smell the things in the room and it annoyed her but she was going to have to deal with it. She could smell the metal of the restraints and didn't want to be stuck like that and so she tried to keep on her best behavior.

Time to get down to work (Oluse, Lucifel)

Falix had been observing until the point where she heard him ask for 3 small stretches of cloth. she hopped down from the shelf she had been sitting on then looked around. She spotted a chair and pushed the chair over to the cabnet before hopping up onto the chair then opening the cabinet. she grabbed the cloth he asked for then hopped down again off the chair. She then bundled them up a bit as she jumped onto the desk as she had before then up onto his shoulder. she held the cloth to him and when he took it she hopped down again. She then moved to put the chair back and out of the way in case he needed to get into that cabinet again. She then looked at the woman who had identified herself as "lucifel." She bit her own lip again watching her her wings on her back drooped slightly. she didn't like seeing others in pain even if they were strangers. she wished she could do more to help but there really wasn't much she could do.

She sighed to herself and looked up at Oluse. He was completely lost in his work, and focused like he had been before. she thought back to what Banir had told her and wondered if he was always like this when his mind was at work with what he needed to do. he seemed like a fun-loving guy, but could get pretty serious when the time called for it.

Time to get down to work (Oluse, Lucifel)

Postby Oluse on January 24th, 2012, 7:47 am

Oluse's heart leaped with relief as she spoke, however faintly. His voice remained at a constant tone, however. "Well, Lucifel. You are about to be a little more awake. Just try to focus on my voice, alright? Open your eyes and look at my face. We are going to get through this." He balled the cloak up as he spoke and slipped it under Lucifel's ankles, to raise her feet up. This would increase the blood flow to her brain, and hopefully help her stay awake and objective.

He leaned in and looked at her wound carefully, firmly and steadily taking her hand and moving it away. The blood had all but stopped, which was both a blessing and curse in the young doctor's mind. The red set in frightening contrast against the pale white skin of the wounded Kelvic. "You've lost a lot of blood, but it's stopping now. This is going to sting just a little, but it will make you better. Just keep focusing on me." He took a deep breath, trying not to stop his breathing. Holding his breath was a habit that had left him light headed while tending to patients a handful of times before, a mistake he tried to monitor closely. Exhaling slowly he poured some of the herbal infusion onto one of the clothes. He gave no thanks to Falix, but he did appreciate the help.

"Falix, there is a fine needle on the desk there." He began tenderly dabbing at the skin around the wound, working his way inward. "Bring it here. Then go to the cabinet and retrieve some threading." The first drop of the liquid entered the wound and began to adopt a bit of a milky look as the pain hit. The pain would not be simply a little sting, but a burning sensation as the harsh infusion worked away at the infection, and delicate outer layers of exposed flesh. "I'm right here, Lucifel. Hold still, it will numb soon." He forced another breath as he threw the first cloth aside, and wet the next to begin cleaning the actual wound.

"I'm also going to need some pretty strong numbing agent. It's in a glass vial by my foot, it looks yellow." He pressed the moist cloth to the first of the three wounds, and fought the urge to bite his lip as he listened to the pain's effect on his patient. "I'm going to numb the pain soon. Just hold still for me, Lucifel. I'm going to heal you. Just listen to my voice." The fact the bleeding had stopped eased his mind. He felt at this point that she likely didn't have any serious internal wounds, and that meant if she could just stay calm he would be able to save her. She wasn't going to be very comfortable for quite some time after, though.

She had laid still until he started to put the liquid onto the tears in her skin, she made a roaring sound like one would expect out of a large tiger. Since really she was just a tiger that could shape itself into a human. Ine thing had been for sure it had sure jolted her awake and she could think of less brutal ways but she really couldn't complain too much although all she wanted to do was jump up and rip out the man's throat. She had spotted the little clay Pycon and growled at it trying to intimidate it but it was merely a tool for her to try and let go some of the tension and frustration out. It was easy to tell from the look in her eyes that she only meant it half-heartidly.

she could more clrealy hear them as the burning in her side had brought her back to her senses at least for the moment. She shivered at the thought of what was going to happen but she knew that she would have to endure it. Once again to distract herself she idly pawed at the little Pycon that was going about the room, purposely missing whenever she got close to hitting the clay doll. she had rmembered that the doll seemed to be the doctors assisstant so she wouldn't torment the poor thing too much, but it did relieve some of the stress. She tried to keep her focus alert as much as she could and would look up at the doctor periodically so that he knew that she was still with him.

Try as she might though she couldn't fully sit still it wasn't in an animal's nature to stay still for very long and she stillhad a long way ahead of her before she would be able to move again, or even comfortably for that matter. She doubted that she would be able to morph forms back to her more natural form until that thread came out of her sides. She absently reached up to the pair of rings that rested looped through a chain around her neck, as she waited for what was to come next.

Time to get down to work (Oluse, Lucifel)

Postby Falix on January 24th, 2012, 9:28 am

After being asked to get the various materials, Falix scrambled around trying to collect everything. She used the chair as it more or less scraped along the ground. First she got the numbing agent he requested then she retrieved the fine bone needle and the thread and brought those next. All the while she was trying to avoid the scary kelvic. she would have to dodge around her hand and avoid looking at her face jsut to get anything done. Finally she had collected everything that Oluse has asked her to get. She made a 'phew' sound and made like she was wiping sweat off of her brow, but this was more for dramatics than actual needs since she didn't sweat. When everthing was gathered she moved to be able to observe again, for the moment.

She was suprised by how well that the Kelvic was taking everything and had only made threatening growls and little swips at her but hadn't actaully tried to jup up and attack one of them. she wondered if this kelvic had more patients or maybe less animalistic than most, but then she realized this wasn't the case when she saw the expression cross the kelvic's eyes. She was fighting back to urge to hurt them, she just had a good sense of when to hold her claws and when to strike. She jumped up to the shelf she had been on so that she could see what that Oluse would do as he worked.

Time to get down to work (Oluse, Lucifel)

Postby Oluse on January 24th, 2012, 9:09 pm

With the outside of the wound more or less cleaned, he could see the punctures clearly at last. Three, evenly spaced apart. One strike from an animal roughly her own size. He gave a pained look, but quickly void his face of it encase his patient was looking. "Ok, Lucifel, I'm going to," his sentence cut short as his picked up the sealed bottle from the desk beside him. His eyes flashed with alarm and anger. It wasn't what he had wanted. It was a numbing agent, but it was stronger that what he anticipated, and an oral application instead of exterior. He gave another glance at the glistening wound and the distant pained expression on his patients face. He uncorked the bottle, grabbed a glass measuring device off the desk and carefully measures out half the device with opaque yellow green liquid.

"I'm going to have you drink this, Lucifel. It will make you feel a lot better." His statement was nowhere near an understatement this time. The liquid would give her about twenty minutes of a distant near hallucinogenic state, before plunging her into a deep state of unconsciousness. She would, however, feel no pain, and all of her muscles would relax so he could work more quickly. He scrupulously refrained from using too much, erring on the side of less, not wanting to stop her heart, or put her in a coma from his lack of experience with such severe drugs. Carefully he went to her head, and cradled it in his on hand. "Hold still, it's ok. Just look at my face, and drink. Slowly." He waited for her to look at him as he instructed, and began to pour the drought into his patient. It was a small dose, but it would more than do the trick. That is, assuming she wasn't allergic to any of the ingredients.

After he administered the potion he stepped back a half a pace, hand resting on the table beside Lucifel. He monitored her very closely, giving her several minutes for it to take full effect. He hated leaving the wound exposed for so long, but he wanted his patient to be eased. Her unnecessary pain was too much for him to endure. As his eyes watched her feminine features, he said offhandedly. "Falix, there is a stronger disinfectant there, in a small vial." He pointed down by his side, to a fine vial. He entrusted Falix to receive it, not wanting to take his eyes off the person before him for even a moment. "Retrieve it for me." Again he gave no please, nor thank you, his mind only focusing on one person's emotions, his patient.

Time to get down to work (Oluse, Lucifel)

Postby Luchiana on January 25th, 2012, 9:04 pm

Lucifel was only about half aware of the things that were going on. When the drought was poured into her mouth, the taste of it nearly made her want to spit it backout but she wound up swollowing it. She shivered slightly, and it was only a few minutes until things began to feel weird for her. The pain in her si began to fade, and instead she began to see things she hadn't remembered seeing in the strange office before. Was it just her or was the pycon that had been helping the doctor look funny? She looked up at the doctor again after the drug had started to take effect. He looked almost funny and yet at the same time he looked threatening. The room began to shift in odd colors, changing from the plain color it had previously been to such odd colors like blues and other cooler colors of the spectrum. She wondered in the back of her head what it was that the human had made her drink. Sure it had made the pain go away but it had also caused a lot of other weird stuff to happen. Her head began to spin and she felt her body begin to slack and relax.

When she felt her body become relaxed her immediate reaction was to try and move around not trusting this human yet. However no matter how much she tried her body would not obey her commands and eventaully her world began to grow dim and dark. Without her concent her eyes slipped closed and her body became relaxed the tenseness that had been in her muscles falling out of them for a short period of time. In the physical world she was fast asleep, the drug having knocked her out, her breathing was deep, even and calm.

In the incorporeal world of her mind, things were quite different. She began to dream. The dream started out as merely a flash, a memory that came to her mind as most dreams started although no one could really remember how their dreams started. However it did not stay a memory for long and began to morph into what would be called a dream. The dream had started out back when she had been a young Kelvic, both of her parents and her two other siblings while full blooded Kelvics, they had not obtained an animal form, the reason for the phenominon had skipped them, but had been passed on to her. She remembered running through the feilds where she had been born, both as a human and as a tiger.

She far enjoyed her tiger form over her human form. The tiger form had seemed more natural to her. She was the oldest of the three children, and because she had been born as an animal she was often the pride of her parents. She was often times spoiled and loved it. This was where the "dream" part of her memories began. For some reason or another she was out running through her favorite fields loving the feeling of the wind singing through her beautiful coat and the tilled soil beneath her paws. A man had come to the place she had been living at the time although she was still too young to remember where it was. The man had heard that there was an unbonded Kelvic around the area. He had come seeking to take her, and she wasn't going to have that.

Lucifel felt that while she wanted a bond mate, she didn't want to be enslaved by anyone who would only use her. Time was skipped in the dream, and it appeared that the man had been angered that she refused him. Time skipped again, to a time when she was older. She was off on her own now but she had remained near the towns. even for her it was dangerous to be out by herself, the land itself could become frightening at any given moment. she was off hunting for somthing to eat when a shadow crossed her path. she looked to see what had cast such a shadow. The figure was shadowed but had a human shape although in this world that could mean a number of things. The shadow held up a collar and leash which immediately made her growl and she tackled the being.

Time skipped again, and now she was in a battle, a firece one, with a large bear. she was dreaming of the recent event now, that had caused her to be in such a place as the center. In the dream she battled with the creature and when it had gotten to the point where she had been wounded, the dream shifted again and instead she had wounded the bear in such a way and scared him off. As time progressed the dreams continued to become stranger until eventually she was no longer able to dream at all, having fallen into a deeper state of sleep.

Time to get down to work (Oluse, Lucifel)

Postby Falix on January 25th, 2012, 9:29 pm

Having run around and retrive everything that Oluse asked for and gotten them to him. She sat down in the chair that she had been pushing around this whole time to get from place to place, in order to get what Oluse asked for. She watched athe drug took Lucifel under and wondered what the woman was dreaming about. she looked to Oluse as he kept transfixed on his work. she hadn't really expected him to pay her any attention with such a criticaly wounded patient in his care she so didn't mind that he didn't say any thinks or even acknowledge her. She watched from her position as the blood began to dry on the wounds but knew that it would soon be refreshed once Oluse started working again. Having recovered a little she jumped off the chair then went onto the table where oluse and Lucifel were so that she would be there for any other help that he might need.

she saw the expressions that came over Lucifel's face as she slept and wondered wht it was that the Kelvic was dreaming of. she hoped that the Kelvic was resting peacefully and that the drug would keep her out long enough that Oluse would be able to do his work.

Time to get down to work (Oluse, Lucifel)

Postby Oluse on January 26th, 2012, 1:55 am

Oluse's mind and eyes rest with a distant gaze upon his patient's face. He was waiting for the medicine to steal her away from the pain, a choice he would get a stern talking to for once the more experienced doctors found out about his decision. But, there was another though holding him entranced by her. It seemed in an odd way, unfair to Oluse. Her wound had been worse than Yurvik's, yet she lay there with a good chance of survival. And he...

Once Lucifel stopped stirring, Oluse reached forward and checked her breathing and pulse. Satisfied that she was stable his gaze moved quickly to the wound. Meticulously he cleaned it again, checking deeper into the cuts by pressing firmly against the surrounding flesh. He knew there were healers that could save her from infection later, but he couldn't accept that. For that wound he had to do it himself. He grimaced slightly as he realized a slight dislocation, a break of the lowest floating rib. All cartilage, it would take three to four weeks to fully heal, and be very soar for Lucifel while it did so, especially so close to the puncture. It had likely saved her diaphragm from injury, however, for which she should be grateful.

Only once Oluse had cleaned the wound several times did he apply the strong disinfectant to the needle and organic thread, then begin applying the sutures. He worked slowly, carefully. Each stitch was placed the exact distance apart as they were long, each stitch was the exact length as the one before it, and each was sewn individually so if one broke the others would still hold. He saw the work finished through his mind's eye before he began, his fingers looking to him to move over a silhouette or shadow of what the finished product would be. One stitch had gone down wrong, and he carefully pulled it out, redoing it. The time ticked by as he worked, and his mind was somewhere else, in all truth he was outside of reality. The world beyond his finger's, tools, and patient did not exist.

As he neatly and carefully pulled the last suture tight, and bound, he looked his patient over again. He felt as if he were suddenly at a loss of purpose. His awareness grew steadily, as he busied his hands checking over his patient's vitals again. She was stable. He looked around the room, his mind having some trouble adjusting to distances beyond his arm's length. Finally his eyes rested on the little Pycon (if she had remained throughout the procedure.) "Thank you for the help, Falix." He then looked down at the tools he had used, and bent to gathered them up, dropping them into the garbage container by the desk for cleaning later. "I'm afraid." He looked to Falix with a distant and almost drowsy expression. "I won't be able to finish the demonstration on the kiss of life today. Would you come back tomorrow?" The procedure had taken a lot out of him, more so than it usually would have. But, there were personal cords this particular wound, and the particular patient plucked at.
