It was only a few chimes shy of sunset and Lunae was placed comfortably against the outer wall of the establishment known as Malfazar’s Beer Hut, The Beer Hut to its frequenters. It was the dingy exterior and camaraderie inside that made it feel almost like home to Lunae, in some far distant past it would feel.

The Watchtower chimed loudly, giving Lunae one more chime left before nightfall. That meant one more chime before she felt more comfortable in her body, this one being wretched feeling. The hood of her robe covered her face the rest of her body tucked neatly underneath the rest of the robe. It was a cold time of the year, but she was use to it. Having stayed anchored to this world for the last two years, she became accustomed to the changing seasons and what not.

The last chime echoed in the air and Lunae could feel the shifting of her, horns sprouting from her temples and sweeping backwards in a slight curving arch being the only change she could feel without looking into a reflective pool, window, or mirror. She knew that her skin turned pearly white and her eyes a dark shade of blue.

Seeing as the moon was rising and the sun was set it was getting even colder out and the fire inside was beginning to look more and more pleasant. So Lunae decided it was time to get up and get inside before she froze to death and all. Once inside the Ethaefal made it appear as if she was looking for someone before she placed herself near the fireplace. Once more tucking herself neatly into her cloak so none of her body was visible, Lunae took another glance around.

It was all for appearances of course, Lunae didn’t know a soul of a person in this place, hell she didn’t know a single person in all of Ravok. Wasn’t something she entirely wanted to worry about, at least right now.

When the barmaid came to her asking if she’d like to order Lunae politely declined and remained seated.

OOC: Didn't know how ya wanted to introduce one another there Clyde.

[Malfazar's Beer Hut]New Places, New Acquantances. [Clyde]

Postby Clyde Sullins on January 26th, 2012, 4:26 pm

Clyde could feel deep inside of himself his magic deepening. For several days now, he had known he was progressing, hitting another benchmark which showed that his skill with manipulating djed was finding a new depth and possibly a new ability.

So that is why he found himself this day outside of the city, out in the cold biting wind. He shivered in his robes, pulling them tight, and going a bit into the trees, but still keeping the lake within sight. He did not want to get to were he might find trouble.

Clyde spent a few minutes picking up branches off the ground, and dropped an armload on a bare spot of dirt. Luckily it had not snowed, it was only cold out, since snow would have gotten him wet, and when it melted it would have gotten everywhere... No, he had chosen today knowing there was no snow out.

Taking out his ink, and a quill, he dipped it, letting the excess drip off, before bringing it to his bare hands, and drawing a focus glyph on the palms of each. He had been trying a new focus lately, one large glyph, it appeared as a large circle on the outside, with lines emanating from this central point similar to how one would draw beams of light coming from a sun.

Then on the inside, he put the word in ancient tongue "Djas", meaning alone, as the focus was one sigil in and of itself. All of these elements merged together, almost blurring into confusion, becoming one sigil. FInally he just had to wait for the ink to dry, before casting some res out of his hands.

He extruded a thin layer of gas out, coating the wood he had prepared, and then with a sudden force of will, transmuted it to flame, making a small roar of air, before the wood lighted and caught aflame, spreading its warmth as it crackled.

Clyde stood by it for a few minutes, letting it warm him, before he sat down to focus on his task, close to the warmth of the flames.

Then he focused inward, trying to meditate, looking inward at his djed, trying to manipulate it in new ways... He did his beest to close out everything, focusing on the dirt under him h was sitting on... The warmth of the flame... And his own djed burning inside of him like a white hot sun...

After a few hours, with the fire starting to get low, he extruded some res from his hands... He could feel the start of a new pathway... He just had to open the passage... He looked with his res, trying to feel it... Then he tapped into one of its usages, lightly calling on its ability to pull and attract natural elements... He could feel a gentle tug as air was pulled to it... A close tug as the flames of the fire bent closer for a moment as they were also attracted... And something else... Something below...

Finally he realized, he had shifted some dirt, only slightly, when he had attracted things... Dirt... Earth... He had unlocked earth reimancy!

Excited at his new discovery, he extruded some more res, forming it into a small ball about the size of a marble, and hovered it a inch over the ground.

Pulling once more, this time a little harder, and focused on earth, bits of dirt flew up to coat the res, dirt clods, even a smaller pebble... He brought it down into the earth, letting the small bit of res soak into it... And then pulled up at once, taking out a small chunk of earth with the res, now a bit larger than a marble, since it had a quarter inch coating of dirt all over it.

Clyde smiled to himself, discovering his new ability, and got up, realizing he had spent most of the day there. The fire had burnt down to ashes and cinders, and only a few red hot coals feebly burned there... He shivered again, realizing how cold he was in his robes, and saw the sun was starting to go down. He picked up his ink and quill, and headed back to town, not wanting to be out after dark, forgetting that he still had his focus glyphs drawn on his hands.

It was on his way back to the city that he came upon a dingy little structure, a shack really, with a sign... A beer hut? He himself had never been in, but surely it would be warm. He could go in and get warm by the fire, and perhaps get a drink and a bite to eat... He only know realized how hungry he was, not from using to much res, but from only having eaten a small breakfast that morning.

So Clyde went in, hurriedly finding a seat near the fireplace, puling his hands inside of his robes to warm them. He called out for the barmaid to bring him a mug of ale, before looking around while he waited. There were not to many people there at that time, though he did notice one woman looking a bit off, like she felt she did not belong, sitting near him at another table. Clyde looked her over in her cloak, as she sat there, wondering what he deal was, locking eyes for a moment to see them better, her blue eyes with a odd silverish glint to them.

Lunae glanced back at the fire as she seen she was noticed. Ah hell. She grimaced from under her hood and then took another glance towards the man, her hand slowly creepy across her belt to the hilt of her dagger placed beneath her cloak.

"Can I help you?" Her voice snapped calmly from beneath the rim of the hood. "If you are looking for a local prosititute, you got the wrong lady." She pointed towards the bar's other end, "Most are at that end of the building." She nodded that way trying make to make her point completely clear.

Once more Lunae drifted her gaze back to the fire, allowing the heat to bath her small body in warmth. When the man still didn't leave and kept looking at her Lunae couldn't help but glancing at him and finally shifted her body so it pointed even more towards the fire in the hearth.

[Malfazar's Beer Hut]New Places, New Acquantances. [Clyde]

Postby Clyde Sullins on January 28th, 2012, 8:15 am

Clyde did not notice the suspicion on the womans face, or the movement of her hand reaching closer to her dagger... After all, why would someone freak out just from someone looking at them? Most people would not care at being seen, unless they had something to hide, or were not supposed to be there.

She snapped at Clyde, "Can I help you? If you are looking for a local prosititute, you got the wrong lady. Most are at that end of the building."

Well that was a bit rude, though a smile crossed Clyde's face at her bluntness, and being so openly hostile. Most people would at least pretend to be nice, and just sneak a blade into your back later. But he did find her interesting, even if she did think he was just out looking for a whore.

"I was just admiring your eyes, they are quite beautiful... Pardon me for staring..."

Continuing to smile at her, Clyde sat for a moment, until the barmaid came over with his ale. Clyde took a small sip, and looked around the room again, his eyes occasionally darting to the woman that had spoken to him.

Clyde thought for a few seconds, and then decided to check her aura, he was not sure what, but there was something interesting about her...

As usual it took him a bit to prepare his djed, and he slowly focused it to his mind, preparing to work his magic... Finally he had it ready, and he was able to focus and see the aura of the woman... At first all he saw was a plain grey aura, spreading out a few feet from her... Then as he further synchronized with it, it gained color, turning for the most part white, with swirls of bright silver at its core, and subtle hints of blue floating around it.

But as he looked, he was startled to see something odd... There, at the edges of the aura, it was not like normal... Sometimes the edge of a aura for him was wavy and curved, other times it was a straight circle all the way around the thing... But for this woman... The edges were frayed... Like looking at the end of rope, little bits sticking out in every which way... It was almost like the aura was... Damaged...

The entire edge more or less was like it... But what could do that to a aura? Clyde had never before seen a aura like this... As his aura vision faded, and his sight went back to normal, he stared with renewed interest at the woman... There was obviously something going on with her...

Clyde took another deep sip of his ale, and swallowed, before speaking to her once more. "I am Clyde... Clyde Sullins... And you are?"

Lunae sighed and stood from her current spot by the fire and took a seat across from him at the same table. She once more looked at him and tilted her head as if recognizing him looking at her, but of course she knew nothing of his aura vision.

"You ask for too many questions and stare far too much. If you must know Clyde, My name is Lunae." The Eth nodded before lowering her hood for the first time in the beer hut since she arrived just minutes ago. The silver glint in her eyes flashed briefly in the fire's light, her alabastor skin shimmered as if freshly hewned from the rock face. She lifted her hood up higher to bring it over her horns, black horns that sweep away from her temples in a sleek and agile appearance.

She pursed her lips before looking back at her conversationlist of a new acquaintance. "Are you better pleased with what you are looking at now? Stare all you want, it appears that more people to that here than I would ever expect."

Lunae leaned forward and whispered, "Of course, Leth seems to have graced me with some sort of exquisite beauty."

She eyed the man, placing a hand gently against her dagger's hilt. Only at night though. It was with her last bit of speech that she creased her lips into a thin line and waited.

[Malfazar's Beer Hut]New Places, New Acquantances. [Clyde]

Postby Clyde Sullins on January 29th, 2012, 11:14 pm

Clyde had simply been expecting her to ignore him, or to say her own name. So he was a bit surprised when she got up and joined him at his own table. Though he kept his cool decently, and did not react to much as she sat down across from him. He kept one hand on his mug, so he could take a sip, but left his other hand out on the table, open and visible.

Of course he had forgotten that in his hurry to get out of the cold and somewhere warm, he had left his glyphs on his hands. So the palm of his hand that was being revealed would show his large ink focus he had drawn there, slightly smudged in a few places. But it was still mostly discernible, and would look odd, seeing as most people do not go around with mysterious symbols drawn on their skin.

He deposited the knowledge of her name, Lunae... A bit odd, but who was he to say anything about others names... To each their own... This time though as she drew back her hood to show her horns, he really was interested, and it showed in his eyes the sudden flicker of interest. For surely she was not a human to have such things coming out of her...

He noticed the name of Leth, new that he was the god of the moon... But beyond that he had no idea what she was talking of. He supposed it had something to do with it being night time, which was when the moon came out, but he had never heard of Ethaefal, and so did not know of their relation to the god, or what they were.

After looking at her horns for a few seconds, he returned to looking at her eyes, a smile coming across his face. His interest was certainly piqued... Clyde took a measured breath and thought for a moment before speaking, clearly trying to get them out just right.

"I meant no offense, I have never seen something like them... They are real aren't they? They do not appear to simply be ornamental or something added on. Or are they a sign of your race? I am sorry to say I only know of so many ones besides humans, it is hard to know of all of the different peoples that fill these lands."

Clyde paused for a moment, letting his words sink in, before continuing on. He was still wondering about her aura, and the question was teasing at the back of his mind to be found out.

"So Lunae, were is it that your people are from? Or do they have a place? It seems most have something special about them. I am afraid to say I am but a simple human, who has no special abilities by blood, not like the many other peoples of Mizahar... But it is always good to know of those that live around you."

Clearly Clyde was trying to persuade her to divulge information, to inflate her ego. It might work, or it might not, there was no telling. Or perhaps the woman would have willingly given it to him at the asking, and would do so regardless of what he said. There was no way to know what thoughts were running through Lunae's head. As he spoke his hand fell open once more, revealing the large sigil he had drawn earlier to prepare for his magic.

Seeing his left hand open on the table Lunae managed to relax enough to let a small smile form, he appeared kind enough. When she looked closer though at his hand, granted she didn't move her head forward or anything, she saw a funny symbol on his palm, not wanting to question it right away she looked back up at the man, the small smile there vanished from sight. He is from Leth, I knew it...

She had no idea that the glyph on his hand was for magical purposes and had nothing to do with Leth. For all she knew these mortal beings, she had forcefully been rejoined with, could be using that symbol as a denotation of a follower of Leth. It was when she lowered her hood that she also noticed his eyes widen with amazement before he quickly covered the emotional betrayal. She couldn't help but smirk, Ah, so the man before is not from Leth! How foolish I am.

Image

I am sorry to say I only know of so many ones besides humans, it is hard to know of all of the different peoples that fill these lands.

"No offense! That is what they all say before they try and render one of my kind of their heritage and last remaining vesitage of their existance!" Lunae slammed her hands violently down against the table, her eyes narrowed and her voice dripping with venomous hate. "They are as real as the flesh on your body." Her growling tone was becoming less of a growl and more of a dull sound as she realized his sincerity in the words he spoke.

"I apologize for my outburst. Please... Continue." She said when she saw him pause, whether out of her outburst or by his own accord to allow her a chance to understand Lunae didn't know.

Image
So Lunae, were is it that your people are from? Or do they have a place? It seems most have something special about them. I am afraid to say I am but a simple human, who has no special abilities by blood, not like the many other peoples of Mizahar... But it is always good to know of those that live around you.

"My people? I have no people have Leth threw me from the heavens above." She left her words at that, leaving the rest of his questions unanswered. My people. Bah. Lunae scoffed loudly at her thoughts before she leaned forward and pointed to Clyde's hand. "Tell me then... Clyde... " The man's name was odd feeling in her mouth, "What is this odd symbol upon your skin? Marked as slave?" She stood and turned as if to head towards the door, "I believe I shall contact the local guards just over there by the trading post and let them know someone's slave has run off." Lunae looked back at the man, "I am sure they will be handsomely rewarded..."

With that she pushed the seat in with a barefoot and strode off slowly towards the door, pulling her hood up over her horns and face as she went. It was, after all, frigidly cold out.

[Malfazar's Beer Hut]New Places, New Acquantances. [Clyde]

Postby Clyde Sullins on March 15th, 2012, 6:23 pm

Clyde had simply been asking a probative question, trying to find out more about her, seeing if she was one who would easily reveal info on herself... It was always good to try the easier approaches before going any further, on the off chance it would work. But he was not expecting for her to get angry, and to start getting violent...

He was interested by her reference to being thrown from the heavens by Leth, the aforementioned moon god... Surely she was not being literal though, and simply meant it as a metaphor, perhaps of losing favor from the god? He was not sure...

But what got him really angry was her accusing him of being a slave! Him, a free man! Him, a powerful mage and a student of the institute! Him, a powerful being of magic, with being... Whatever!

All of these things were echoing in his head, pumping him up and increasing his anger. From there nature he assumed they were from himself... Did not notice that they were spoken in the same voice as he heard from sweet whispers... Or that they were practically daring and inciting him to do magic, to show his superiority... Something which seemed to be occurring all the more often lately...

Clyde was so enraged, he quickly stood up, sending his chair flying, and letting out a yell across the tavern of "How dare you!"

Running after her, he yelled at her once more, truly enraged and barely holding himself back from issuing some res here and now, and blasting her with lightning...

"How dare you call me a slave! I am no slave but a freeman! And I am no ordinary man, look here at this badge, proof of my being a student at the Institute of Higher Learning!" Saying this, he reached into his bag, and showed her the badge with triumph on his face, before stowing it away once more.

Of course this was not quite enough for Clyde, and the voice in his head was really getting to him, convincing him to carry on and say more which he usually kept quite secret, for obvious reasons, and did not shout it at people at random.

"That's right I am a mage! So watch what you say in insulting me, before I prove what I am! I am of more value to the city than you, do you think the Stryfe would care if I would to kill you here! So show some respect!"

"Not to mention how could I be a runaway slave if I am still here near the city! Don't you think a runaway slave would leave the city entirely, not sit here on the outskirts sipping ale!"

This last bit was more an insult on the woman's intellect, though in his defense she had insulted him quite grievously in calling him a slave. Though it was anyone's guess as to how she would react.

How dare you!

Just hearing his words echoed in the beer hut was amusing to the Ethaefal. So she could tweak a few buttons on this man. But Clyde wasn't finished, she could tell that much. With a flashing of his fancy badge of higher education and what not she just laughed at his face and then what he said next caused Lunae to narrow her eyes.

Image

She turned on the spot and narrowed her eyes at him her left hand reaching out towards his chin. "You want to see why a runaway slave would stay near the city and not run? You foolish child of the mortal flesh. Look around you! You are still captive to whatever foolish diety or magery you have claimed as yours truy." She could feel her body roaring with anger, but that was quickly subsided by the draw she could feel with him being so close to her in his rage.

It was Djed, she didn't know it, but she could feel it's pull like her body was crazing it. Like a fledgling vampire craves blood.

Her left hand was drawing closer to his figure, as if he was a magnet and her piece of metal. She felt then what she felt the day she fell. A chill deep in her bones, a sickness she couldn't understand. It was something she knew nothing about. It was draining her of her freewill and control. Tears started to form in the rims of her eyes. But the pull, it was too strong. Her raging anger was gettting worse, feeding off of Clyde's.

OOC: Yes I know, no vampires on Mizahar, but it's the imagery that counts here.

[Malfazar's Beer Hut]New Places, New Acquantances. [Clyde]

Postby Clyde Sullins on April 2nd, 2012, 5:57 pm

Clyde was only just keeping from issuing his res, the voice he so often heard was urging him on, trying to get him to erupt. But his anger seemed to be swelling, and he could almost feel the joy he might feel in letting go, and releasing himself to his chaotic energies...

He could hear the blood pumping in his ears, and a loud ringing sound... It was only by his sheer will he was not casting magic... But his control was slowly slipping... He had to get away from this woman, as she was only stirring him up, and would cause him to do something he might regret...

Not in killing her, but in casting magic, and possibly overgiving when he lost control.

Walking away from her, he spoke without facing her... And said something under his breath almost chanting, though it was clearly audible for her.

"I am the one in control of my magic... It does not control me... I am in control..."

As he said this, a bit of res came out of his mouth on his exhale, floating behind him. He had inadvertently let it out, had lost control and it had oozed out... If the woman were to follow him, she would likely walk right through it, and be able to suck it up. Though it was only a small chunk, a tiny cloud of gaseous res.

Clyde kept on walking, heading once more out of the city. He had to control himself... Needed to get away from anyone else...

Within his mind, he tried to block everything else out, picturing a simple shape, a circle, and using it as a focus for his mind... If he could meditate... If he could focus only on himself, and ignore anything outside... Maybe he could still stay in control, and not loose his internal chaos.

He walked as fast as he could away, away from the woman, and the building, and the city... Ignoring it all... Not even paying attention to whether or not she was coming along...

He therefore should not be gaining full xp(or possibly shouldn't gain any at all) for simple tasks related to this magic, such as low level MC items, particularly for repetitions of creations he has done before. Feel free to contact me if unsure of a instance of his magic use compared to his skill level.
