The falling maneuver was good and all for dragging an opponent to the ground, but lying there exposed your belly to the enemy, a dangerous advantage Jaiun didn't want to give Belgar. As soon as he had felt his mouth make impact along Belgar's arm, he was twisting and turning to get back onto his feet.

The grip on Belgar's arm was lost in his struggle to regain his footing, but not before he felt the claws curl around his mouth. He felt several pinpricks of concentrated pain even as he left his jaw let loose.

In another moment, Jaiun was back on his feet, several feet away from Belgar. Human caution strove him to take a few warning bats at Belgar with his paw, before unexpectedly shifting his weight. A snarl was immediately proceeded by another pounce, this one with all of Jaiun's adrenaline and anger and joy concealed behind the twin paws that descended on Belgar's head

[Icewatch Barracks] Moving In [Belgar]

Postby Belgar on February 7th, 2012, 12:09 am

Belgar loosed a long roar of relief as his hand was released from Jaiun’s blood-flushed snout. Dark dampness glistened on the black pad of his paw, but he refused to limp on a friendly wound; as he stepped away from his retreated opponent, he left pink marks in the compacted snow. Enduring the faint prick of pain with each step, he rounded Jaiun as the two bears considered one another. The pause lasted for an instant, with the younger bear to make the first move, yet again.

Belgar could not argue with the advantage; the older bear was more patient than was good for him.

He found his jaw hanging open again as he avoided Jaiun’s harmless swipes, scrutinizing them as careless expense of precious energy. He reciprocated the snarl with a noisy growl, which erupted into a roar as he was forced to react to the sudden and unexpected assault.

There was no time to raise his claws in defense. Even with all four legs firmly planted to steady him, Belgar felt the world spin as the weight of Jaiun’s attack impacted his head. His throat still open and candid, he heard a chance grunt escape him like a laugh as he swiped with ready teeth at the flurry of white before him. But he could not reach anything but insubstantial fur, blinded and dizzied by his rattled brain. He gripped the ground in brief panic, trying not to let himself scramble and lose footing.

Though he could not bring himself to focus on sight or smell, he could feel his forelegs bend and his neck descend beneath the other bear’s weight. So he pushed forward with the strength of his hind, diving beneath Jaiun and orienting his snapping jaw for one leg or the other.

A rumbling growl on the very cusp of becoming a roar was cut off suddenly as the bear felt sharp teeth nip at his right leg, which had remained still as Jaiun had tackled his older number. He twisted in Belgar's toothy embrace, struggling to find a way to stave him off.

In his struggle he tumbled over the older bear's back, which had dipped suddenly as Belgar had gone in to attack Jaiun's lower extremities. Desperate claws slashed at Belgar's lower back, though the wounds that might have been inflicted were shallow at best; a sudden restraint had been put into effect just as they had descended.

In the heat of battle it had taken the younger bear a minute to remember this was play, not work.

A frustrated yelp gave way to Jaiun twisting himself downward, head going for the very same leg Belgar may or may not still be gripping. Black gums prepared white spears of teeth to grab the back of Belgar's neck, hopefully to regain the advantage he had so easily lost.

OoCSheer experience should allow Belgar to win this battle, methinks. Maybe another round of posting, than we end it?

OOCDidn't know if you meant to end it, but I couldn't find a means to, from that position. Depending on Jaiun's reaction, we can probably end it with Belgar's next move?

Belgar loosed himself from his fellow’s leg at the first sign of struggle. His head was still ringing, but his nose began see through the metallic ache of dizziness before his eyes did, inhaling the familiar scent of the younger bear to orient him in blindness. Eyes rolling, mouth hanging in preparation, he rose to stand again.

Jaiun was moving around him; their proximity told him as much, the feel of fur against fur as if it were flesh. He tried to sense the gradation of heat and the stretch of his muscles, but he could not hope to be so intuitive. So he turned his open maw aimlessly, more a threat than an attempt to catch a hold, contorting his giant body as fast as it would move around the other bowing, arching form. Their mouths collided as Belgar turned up against the attack, and the hot white air of exertion mingled between them.

But his head was beneath Jaiun’s, too low to deflect it. He paused for an instant, perhaps an instant too long, and moved as soon as the idea occurred to him. He dove beneath the twisting body above and bucked his head upward, tossing his snout into the soft belly there. If it did not throw him off his feet, it would at least knock the breath out of him.
