6th of Winter, 511 AV Rai'ley stood poised over the water, his blue eyes locked on the creatures below. The Ivaski wanted a seal but for now he would settle for small catches. His tail swished back and forth as he stood. "Come here little fishies…" They were there. He knew they were. Perhaps they felt his pawsteps in the water or the wagging of his tail. "No… fish are stupid things. They cannot outsmart me." A low growl rumbled from the dog's throat as he wadded through the water. He was frustrated but that was the nature of the hunt. Sometimes the prey was just too smart. A splash… Rai'ley's ears twitched before he whipped his head around to see where the sound came from. "Fish…" It was all he thought before he began to sneak forward through the water. One paw in front of the other, slowly but surely. He could see the fish swimming, two to be exact, over the sand. He raced forward, diving his massive maw into the water. Clamping his teeth together, he felt a fish wriggling in his grasp. He had not caught it correctly though. The Ivaski's race forward had been premature and he only caught the tail. This was not the end though. Not by a long shot. Rai'ley pulled the fish from the water as it thrashed about. A growl escaped his throat as he struggled to keep a hold. Throwing his head back, he tossed the fish slightly into the air, hoping to catch it in a better position. This creature had a strong will to live though. As the dog snapped his jaws to grab a hold of the fish once more it flapped out of his grasp and back into the water. Rai'ley's catch was gone, leaving nothing to show for the effort besides a faint stream of red. |
