Here's a stable for all our horsey peeps.

Narvaen Stables :
Narvaen Stables

Sprawling on the outermost fringes of Zeltiva, Narvaen Stables is a 13-acre spot of green that contrasts the slate gray of stone buildings. When the Valterrian struck, decimating the places and peoples of the bay, labor was scarce. Sleel Narvaen, a common bricklayer, capitalized upon an opportunity and spent everything he had on three horses. Learning mostly everything on the job from luck and hearsay, he soon produced two foals. He reared and trained them, and when ready for work they sold at ludicrously high prices. With this money, he began to build a business of breeding and training horses, and in the shattered world he lived in, horses were worth more than men.

His wealth grew, and he quickly claimed a swath of land outside the remains of the city. He build stables and pastures and a modest little house, and died at the healthy age of 86. His family continued his legacy, developing draft horses, and there are rumors that these stables were actually the birthplace of the colorsplash. Whether or not this is true, they definitely focused on the breed, and their colorsplashes are known throughout Mizahar for their quality. Other stables often order foals to strengthen their own bloodlines, and every horse is at ease in water.

At Zeltiva continued to rebuild into a city to rival its predecessor, the need for work animals diminished. The family began to turn their eye to the horses of higher class, and the firemane in particular, to cater to the tastes of the powerful scholars and merchants that lived in the city. The little house grew into an auspicious manor, and the buildings began to grow in quality.

Now, the stables are well-known in Zeltiva, and relatively known in almost every other civilized city. There are two main stables: the “for-sale” building and the “not-for-sale” building. The first holds breeding stallions, pregnant and nursing mares, unweaned foals, and horses that the stable is too embarrassed of to display. This stable can be browsed with an appointment. The second holds the trained animals that are ready to be bought, and virtually every breed can be found there for the right price.

NPCs:
Alaxal Narvaen
The current head of the Narvaen family, Alaxal is what someone is his position would be expected to be. Born and raised as a noble’s son, he doesn’t have very many skills and is only where he is according to tradition. Still, he is very proud of his heritage. Legally, he owns all of the stables and horses, and is very picky about breeding and training. He does not allow any crosses or mixing of bloodlines, and does not like to train horses to drive, thinking that a horse is only good if it can be ridden. Like any noble, he surrounds himself with finery, and there has been talk of him ending the colorsplash legacy altogether in favor of fancier, more beautiful horses. He is very clear about his place at the head of the family, and any challenges to his authority will be met with consequences as harsh as he can muster. Despite this, he isn’t too smart, and likes anyone willing to stroke his ego.

Skills:
48 Pursuasion
10 Negotiation
18 Riding

--

NPC
Sienna Narvaen
Though she reports to her older brother, Sienna is the true stablemaster. Born as the second child and restricted by her gender, she was often left to her own devices. She spent most of her time outside with the horses, and the grooms and trainers saw her as some sort of communal daughter. If she was ever bullied or wronged, the offender would have twenty burly horsemen ready to beat them to a pulp, and she grew up in more safety than she realized. When she was large enough to ride, it soon became apparent that she had a gift for interacting with horses, and she began her career as a trainer. Soon enough, she surpassed all of her peers, gentling even the wildest beasts and training them to do even the most difficult of feats. She garnered respect, and with a bit of careful sycophantism she convinced her brother to let her have full run of the stables. She is now an avid horsewoman, and though she usually follows her brother’s rules, every now and then she “forgets” to tell him of a certain mixed foal, or a certain new groom, or a certain training session. Unlike him, she loves her animals and takes care of those that work for her, and the business continues to flourish under her hand.

Professor Incoming:

Secret :
Cadena Anaya Fianza
Professor of Summoning and Familiary
Image
"I am not getting paid to argue with you.
I'm not getting paid to be your friend.
And, I am not getting paid very much to teach you.
So don't make me repeat myself."
- Professor Fianza

What you need to know to play her:

A relatively new staff member, only joining the community in Autumn 511, Miss Fianza represents a new kind of teaching. She has her own agenda, if you follow it you will succeed if you don't, an extra planetary creature very well might eat you. Then she will fail you. In all truth she isn't a teacher to be trifled with, and would unlikely have been picked for the job, had there been any other candidates to put in an application. As practitioners of Summoning, and more notably, Familiary don't tend to hold much interest in teaching others their knowledge.

Though she has a very rigid way of teaching, she is not what one would call "strict." For, if a student ignores her limited instructions she will not repeat herself, or tell the student off. She will simply continue her lesson, and leave it to the student to decide why she was missing an arm at the end of the class.

Her teaching style depends greatly on text study, for she doesn't enjoy wasting any more time than she must actually meeting with her students. Though, the time you do win with her will be intimate and personal. Only on the first day of class does the whole collection of students meet, after that she sets up personal meetings with each and every student, checking in twice a week with each.

The meetings can vary greatly between a quick five minute check-ins, and assignment of next reading material, to entire days dedicated to improving form, and perhaps even sharing coordinates, depending on her personal opinion of the student. For this reason, she only allows a small sample of students to join her classes each season, carefully handpicking their names from the list of applicants herself. Contrary to what some might believe, her students are the most important things in the world to her, especially those with strong potential.

Professor Fianza:

DOB: 475
Stated Age: 29
Role: Professor of Summoning, and Familiary
Residence: Academy of Zeltiva

And, another.

Secret :
Leon de Zeaumont
Professor of The Performing Arts
Image
"That was simply brilliant! I'm so proud of you!"
-Leon de Zeaumont

Things you must know to play him:
Professor de Zeaumont has realized his love of the performing arts his entire life. And, has spent most of this life cultivating these arts within himself. Blessed to have been born in Zeltiva, he from a young age took classes from the former Professors of the University. In 506 Leon's own professor and tutor, Deirk Zeimand (still living within the residential district of Zeltiva,) contracted a disease that could not be cured by even the advanced health professionals at the University, and was forced to retire. As a final request from the senior professor he put in a recommendation for de Zeaumont to take his place. Unable to refuse a dying man's wishes the position was offered, much to the disgust of more qualified members in the society, and young (at the time seventeen years old) de Zeaumont took the position.

Leon hopes one day to perform in theater himself, and ultimately to create his own timeless classics, but has dedicated this part of his life to teaching, and only teaching. He is, in fact, renowned around the community for his deep compassion for his students, and willingness to support them no matter their follies. He is, by far, the most encouraging member of the staff, still holding onto to the enthusiasm he had the first time he stood before a class.

When enrolling in his classes one can expect a series of performances to give throughout the course, as well as three practice periods a week with the rest of the students. He will be supportive, and believes that harsh words and criticism only stand in the way of the mind. He believes the only true professor a person can have is time, and experience.

Professor de Zeaumont:

DOB: 488 (Age-23)
Role: Professor of the Performing Arts
Classes: Dance, Singing, and Acting.
Location: University of Zeltiva, Performance Hall.
Moderation Requirements: Must be enrolled in one of his classes to moderate him in your threads.
Skills:
Acting 31
Singing 43
Dancing 40
Poetry 23
Writing 30
Acrobatics 20
Teaching 25

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. You guys are amazing. I love the stables Eorar! I'll format it, and put it up later :)

I love both professors too! Are we just waiting for an HD response on the familiar? I can put them in the NPC library I'm making, and then we'll need to make some sort of location for them (I'm happy to do that). Summoning Classrooms, and a Studio perhaps.

Well, actually. I was thinking the location for this "studio" could be the ballroom, it's already been stated it has a stage, right? When not used for dances why not use it as a performing arts area? Acting and dance, lots of room to move around and express yourself, as wella s being able to practice projection of voice.

yup summoning kinda needs it own space >> cultivating dangerous extra planar poisonous spores isnt really something to do in public places XD

Yeah, why don't you just leave the familiar out for the moment, and just post her, once we have more info I'll expand it and repost it here for you to add?

next is that damn map, and my cartography professor. I'll PM you with questions about that.

Here's the write up for the Cafeteria/Kitchen and Head Chef NPC for the University we talked about. Of course I'm sure you can fix it if it needs it (which I'm sure it might lol)

The Cafeteria Hall

Image

While many of the students and staff members often prefer to dine in their private quarters while studying over spells or lessons, the University does have a building that is centrally located within the campus grounds and thus serves as the Cafeteria Hall where most of the main meals are served to those with empty bellies and hungry salivating mouths. This building is often kept open due to the urging of the Head Chef Master, the man who essentially functions as the Headmaster of the University’s kitchens. No matter what the time of day, if someone is hungry they can always find a plate or bowl filled with hot nourishment to satisfy their hunger, and drinks to quench their thirsts.

The Cafeteria Hall is a long rectangular building that was crafted with grand bricks while the inside is elegantly decorated with hand-carved wooden beams and white-painted walls and ceilings. The flooring is parquet wood from the local forest near the city. At one end is a large fireplace to help heat the hall during the winter, while dotted along the walls are large paned doors that serve as windows, which are often opened during the spring and summer to allow in the warm refreshing breezes. Overhead hangs the hand-crafted chandeliers with three rings of candles (which have to be lit magically, or upon a very tall ladder) making them appear like miniature black iron pine trees. In addition, the wall sconces hold torches that are set ablaze during the darkness of night or during storms that darken the daytime skies.

The hall has a few long tables with benches on either side that have been positioned near the fireplace and on either side of the main entrance, while down the middle are a series of round circular tables designed to accommodate group seatings of up to eight people. However the more that sit at the round tables, the more crowded it is, so oftentimes only four or five people will sit at these tables. Also along the walls between the window paned doors are the tables that hold the main plates that come from the University’s Main Kitchen, loaded with different dishes, and even a few tables that hold the different drinks the Head Chef Master offer the school.

The Main Kitchen

Image

Off behind the Cafeteria Hall building is a slightly smaller building with a thatched roof, the home of not only the Head Chef Master but also the Main Kitchen of the University where the more elaborate meals are prepared under the watchful eye and hands of Head Chef Master Dave. While the school does offer smaller kitchens among the community dorms of the students, this is the only kitchen that actually houses the stock house where the food is stored when not being used to make another fine recipe.

The Main Kitchen is built entirely out of red oven fired bricks that help keep the building warm in the winter and cool in the summer time. The Kitchen also has large windows which can be open either completely or just the top portion. The brick flooring allows for the easier cleanup of any spills that might happen, the removal of blood and guts from animals being freshly butchered inside, or even help to keep the feet of the cooks and other servants warm during the winter days and nights.

The room is divided up into separate work areas and stations. There is the area for the preparation of vegetables and fruits, a station where the meat is prepped, a station for the bakers, and even a station for the washing of the dishes left over from the meals and prepping taking place every day. (The wash station is separated by a wall with a wooden frame window so dishes can be passed from the kitchen to the wash area).

Toward the south end of the build that serves as the Main Kitchen’s quarters is the stock house which is of course divided into two sections. The area for holding things like the meats and then the vegetable and fruit area, the Stock house can only be open by the touch of either the Head Chef Master or his top assistant in the morning before any of the workers arrive for the start of the day. This is to keep thieves out of the stock that is often very limited in its amount already.

Finally behind the end of the building that serves as the Head Chef Master’s living quarters (nothing more than a small apartment with a cot bed, a small dresser for clothing, a wash basin, two chairs for a sitting area, and small bathroom), and the stock house is the garden and little farm. The garden is home to rows of vegetables and a few fruit trees, while the farm is nothing more than a few pens with small shelters for the chickens, pigs, a rabbit hutch, and a three stall barn holding three dairy cattle. These gardens and animals are often tended to by the lower level workers of the kitchen or even students that offer a helping hand toward the Head Chef Master.

NPC :
Image
Name: Head Chef Master Devindaher
Age/Birthdate: 60 years old, 47th Day of Fall in the year of 451 AV
Skills (though I’m sure these can be made higher to fit with his age and station at the University)
• Brewing – 10/100
• Food Preservation – 15/100
• Cooking – 30/100
• Philtering – 5/100

Personality:
Head Chef Master Devindaher (known around the campus as Master Dave) is as tough as his age weathered facial features make him appear to be. While not tough as in cold hearted, he is tough in the fact that he drives a tight ‘ship’ in the kitchens of the University. His tone is deep and conveys the strength time and knowledge has given him. He is a task master and always makes sure those serving under him are always busy working on something, be it working the ovens and stoves to prepping the ingredients for the daily dishes being served.

He even often takes time out to offer small tasks or jobs to not only people that he hires but also students, such as tending the gardens that provide the vegetables and fruits down to tending the chickens and other livestock (pigs, goats, a few cows) that also provide things between the shopping trips that are made to the local market in the mornings before or even after breakfast meals are served.

Master Dave has a very kind heart, and when he notices one of his employees is trouble, he is not above taking them into the gardens and speaking with them. Offering the advice of an elder to many young minds, ears and hearts. The old man loves his job among the students and staff of the University and even on days he isn’t fit enough to oversee the duties in the main kitchen, the old Zeltivan can be seen wondering the grounds checking up on students to see if they might need an extra bit of food before bed or even drop off some bread and soup to a student or staff member that is up late into the evening researching something. Because of this there are many rumors that Master Dave is actually nothing but a teddy bear in the body of a grizzly bear.

History:
The man that would become known among the many years of students and staff of zeltiva’s grand and well only University was born on the late night of the 47th of the season of the Fall weather which ended up taking place in the 451st year After Valterrian.
The middle child gifted to a couple in Zeltiva, Devindaher grew up around the life of a fisherman and the woman who worked the days at her father’s then her husband’s fish mocker’s stall in the local fish market. Dave as he was known to his friends and family, was a blessing after a battle with an illness nearly took the couple’s first born child a thinner less healthy son, Chandin.

Devindaher was as different from his older brother as the night was to the day. A healthy if not overly fed child, he was often seen running around the market with the other children laughing and even helping the women and elderly men that often worked the stalls that lined the market. However Dave showed a unique love for the many flavors cooking held within its knowledge. Because of this love, as young Dave became a young man he took time out from his normal studies (basic education) to experiment in the kitchen that belonged to his mother.

At the age of 20, Dave set off to not only explore the coast of Mizahar but also to explore the vast culture thus food differences of the port cities along the coast. He took a job aboard a small trader’s vessel as it’s cook, Devindaher only left the ship when they reached the city of Ahnatep. It was in this grand desert city that Dave developed most of his knowledge of cooking, food preservation and even how to brew drinks and a bit of philtering to aid in his recipes. Sadly his heart longed for home and so after fifteen years (he was 35 by then), Devindaher said goodbye to the gold sands of Ahnatep and returned home to the cerulean waters of Zeltiva.

Shortly after returning home, Dave took up a job at the University as a junior apprentice cook under the Head Chef Master at the time. And through hard work and dedication quickly rose up to the rank as the Head Chef’s Assistant, and then upon the passing of his former mentor, Devindaher became the new Head Chef Master of the University. It is in this position he has worked and will work until Death comes for him.

Good job! I'd like to suggest giving him Leadership and Organization as well. Those 2 skills are essential for meticulous head chefs to have.
NOTICE: I am currently mostly inactive til August. As such, guild activities are temporarily halted (watch out for major revamps, changes and organizations when I'm back in full force). Any activity with Eri will be rather slow as well, but I am slowly readjusting back to "Mizahar life", so to speak, so do PM me if we have a thread that I left hanging and we'll talk.

Well I'll leave that up to Paragon to edit as I wasn't sure if the 50 to 60 point limit I was told about was either in each skill I gave the NPC or if it was grand total :D

The usual NPC rules don't apply for Public NPCs. The 50XP max rule thing is for private NPCs.
