[The Stone Garden] A Friendly Fight (Open)

Demlin had surprised his opponent, knocking him to the ground. Before Demlin could carry through he had to regain his balance, bending back up regaining his grip on his sword, the opponent had rolled over grabbing a stick and had jumped up much quicker then Demlin expected. Demlin saw the stick begin to raise, so he took his sword and slashed up under the stick, he knew if the man blocked with the stick it would just snap and his sword would continue so he arced it so that the swords tip would go towards the mans neck, if he had succeeded in getting there he would just hold the tip at the opponents neck showing he would have won in a real fight. But this was just a small hope for Demlin, he knew the man would be forced to dodge to hit and he would be easily capable but the point of the attack was not to end the fight, it was to break the stick and force his opponent to go back more.

Wait, wind, did he really have the ability to put out the fire during that entire thing? That's not possible...Could I have really picked a fight with someone so experienced? Demlin thought to himself

The man watching had no look of a mage, he looked like a knight to Demlin so it did not occur to him that the man was able to magic. This led to Demlin being more careful then even before, which was a good thing for now. Demlin was also confused, although his sword was already well on it's way to it's target it had just occurred to Demlin that his opponent may be good enough in magic to just stop him mid swing, he had hoped the pressure he was applying would make it so this could not be the case. Demlins ignorance to magic made his thoughts run wildy right now, but he chastised himself for thinking too much out side of what he knew and focused on what he would do based on the fist fighters reaction.

Andre's res died out as he watched the men fight, moving along to the smoke wisp, calling it to his hand. He slowly toyed with the idea of rushing into the fight, but still, this wasn't his challenge. He blew on the little creature in his palm, watching it giggle with a smile. "Velenor. We are so lucky. We rarely find spars, and rarely need to prove ourselves. Most people avoid the mage-knights." The Blue eyed man stated before returning his gaze to Demlin and the gauntlet wielding fighter. Steel rang on steel in his head as he remember his own time in training, but still, he was quiet, thoughtful and ready to prevent any destructive forces of magic unleashed as a wall of wind rushed up around him, concentrated on him. He was giving a show of force to the fire reimancer, to let him know a Syliran Mage Knight was watching.

Demlin's sword cut a wide arc through the air as it swung towards Etrius' face. It was moving way too fast for Etrius to move his gauntlet to the other side of his body and block it. Instead, letting go of his stick, he let his legs give way, using gravity to duck under the sword. Demlin was holding back, in order to avoid killing Etrius. Even so, Etrius thought that the sword might have nicked his scalp. He was now in range, crouched in front of the squire, and Demlin was just finishing his swing. This was the perfect time to attack.

In a brief instant, Etrius suddenly noticed a feeling of power, similar to the feeling he got when he used reimancy. Only, this power wasn't coming from him, and it felt stronger. Much stronger. Glancing towards its source he noticed the man who had sat to watch the two combatants was now standing and seemed to be staring directly at Etrius. Etrius could feel the familiar feeling of res being manipulated as the knight glared, seemingly caught in a storm that neither of the two fighters could feel. Was the man going to join the spar?

This distracted Etrius for only an instant, but it might have been the instant Demlin needed to recover. He wasted no more time and attacked. Forming a fist with his left hand he jumped, aiming an uppercut at the only place on the squire that wasn't covered in armor, his chin.

In the instant that Demlin's blade went flying at his opponent, the air got a sudden pressure and his opponent disappeared as it seemed from his blade. With the failed fire ball earlier the squire had his doubts that his opponent was acting alone, and if he was then his focus was ridiculousness. Looking down in only enough time to turn his head Demlin felt his head jerk sideways, he had allowed the uppercut to instead of hitting the bottom of his jaw, jerk it to the side reducing the tear damage his neck would receive from the sudden movement. He stumbled back, as he began to duck down, the opponents entire right side was open giving a free shot.

"Do not get careless it will get you killed" Demlin said

Demlin used a quick efficient, but only of medium strength slash at the man's side right towards the middle of a well fit persons inner curve. If he managed to land this blow, it might get his opponents speed closer to his own and this is exactly what he needed to keep up with Etrius. As this stroke was midway through, Demlin noticed a torrent of air surrounding the man watching the fight. He was wearing the attire of a sylirian knight, yet he had a very powerful aura emitting from him. A mage knight... Well at least I know all this power is not the fighter mage Demlin thought to himself, reassured that he was not at a large disadvantage. If anything, Demlin thought the mage would make sure nobody died in this spar either which put his mind at ease as to holding back. This was it, Demlin had just gotten the boost of energy only received mid fight, he said himself to not get careless. Holding back would be an act of carelessness, as if to think he is definitely superior to an opponent he knows little about would surely be a cause of death if there was one in this fight. Thinking a step ahead always Demlin assumed the man would be able to finagle his way out of a full hit, thinking the best way this man could react would be to attempt to take the blow to the arm, if this became the case he decided he would act as if the arm was a blade he was locked with, and push upward hoping to reduce his actions to his offhand or to his magic.

The Syliran Mage knight watched, keeping his eyes open for the use of res. Wind began to die out around him, as he let go of his power, the show of force. He returned to his bench, sitting down as Velenor, Andres smoke wisp familiar, floated to his shoulder, feeling his masters serious thoughts, catching his attention.

Etrius dropped his gauntlet arm to meet the sword. There was a clash and their blades were locked in combat for a moment. In his current state, Etrius couldn't fight back. Demlin's sword pushed Etrius away and Etrius lost his balance, landing on his rear. It was over. Demlin's sword was pointed at his chest and his arms felt like lead. Could one little spell really have taken so much energy out of him?

"Enough, squire. I yield." He continued, his smile returning to his lips. "You're good. You can act fast and think on your feet, both of those traits help in battle. Don't take it from me though, take it from someone who is better trained than the both of us." He turned, remaining on the ground, and crossed his legs and folded his arms. He spoke again, this time addressing the man who had been watching the fight the entire time. He was dressed like a knight, but appeared to have abandoned the classic sword in exchange for gauntlets. A Mage Knight? I've never seen one before."

"So how'd we do?"

It was over already. Demlin had already thought a few moves ahead, it looks like the practice session was over. Blade over the man's chest he decided it would be rude not to allow the fighter to breathe, he pulled the blade back sheathing it, noticing how tired he was now that he was done. The squire was breathing heavily, sparring took a lot out of him, especially from one so quick as Etrius. After Etrius had yielded, he mentioned listening to one more experienced then them. Demlin had not gotten a better look at the watcher until now, he had assumed the man was of the Syliran knights but probably only a squire, he was wrong. The man wore a pin with 1 sword on it, the emblem of a knight. He also wore the attire of what a mage-knight would wear which meant he knew more about both of their fighting styles then themselves put together.

"Hello sir knight, please advise us as you see fit." Demlin exclaimed

Demlin now making sure to stay in a knightly manner, half out of respect and half out of exhaustion bend down to one knee as he awaited a response. What sort of things would this man have to say about his swordplay. He had thought himself to play out the battle quite well but knights always seemed to know what you needed to improve, which he liked immensely. Demlin looked forward to hearing the magic information, even though he could not cast himself and had no interest in learning to do so it was an interesting topic. Another thing drawing him away from magic was using it gave sudden exhaustion that your body could not understand, you would wave your hand and lose the energy of throwing your entire body to the ground.

"Young Squire, I could not advise you. I wield no sword, only my fists. However, if this young man," He indicated the other mage, "Had been a bit better in Reimancy, he wouldn't have tried the distraction trick. I do not claim mastery at Fire Reimancy, but I do know a bit." The Mage explained as he bowed his head, "Before I judge, how about introductions? I am Ser Andresciel, Mage Knight of Syliras." The Knight bowed slightly at the waist, before rising to take in their own introductions.

Etrius turned his mouth sideways at the knight's comment. The knight had sounded nice enough when he said it but Etrius could not shake the feeling that he was in trouble. He nodded back to the knight. "Etrius, mercenary." His gaze was interrupted when a wisp near the Mage Knight's shoulder began to move. Etrius was instantly put on-edge. What was that thing, was it a ghost? Etrius frowned. He couldn't stand ghosts, not one bit. The wispy shape seemed to be staring at him and Etrius stared back, wondering if Andresciel knew about the form hovering near his shoulder.

Looking back, he saw that Demlin did not seem to be as bothered by the thing as much as he was. He huffed in a mix of frustration and anxiety. Damn this childish fear.

"Velenor. Do not be rude." The Mage Knight muttered as he glanced at the smoke wisp near his shoulder. The creature, his familiar, giggled a bit like a child before settling back in on Andre's shoulder, like a cat as Andre sighed. "Sorry, forgive my familiar, Velenor. He's not commonly around mages who he can be openly out and about with."
