25th Day of Winter 511 A.V.
Mattathias had spent the past few days cleaning his apartment while waiting on word from the University on whether or not they intended to hire him as a Teacher's Aide. He spent various times of the day taking breaks from his house cleaning to explore the old city and reminisce about things remembered as a child.
One thing he had not had in quite some time was a good glass of wine. His wineskin had gone empty on his journey from Riverfall to Zeltiva and no where along the way had keg of it to refill his skin. He merely had assumed that since both Riverfall and Zeltiva were coastal cities that trade existed between the two. An assumption he learned was quite wrong.
Mattathias had entered the Kelp Bar hoping for a good draw of alcohol. What the bartender placed in front of him was as green as the marshes and as smelly as dead fish. No, even dead fish smelled a bit better than this. He spent time looking at the mug, then back at the bartender. This went on for a few minutes until the bartender walked away shaking his head.
Mattathias began to wonder if Zeltiva had sworn off alcohol and this was there way to make it happen. Looking around at the other patrons though, he realized they actually drank this stuff. He shrugged and decided to take it over to a table where he could merely observe the locals.
Matty was wearing his travelers clothes: pants, long sleeved shirt, and vest; but had the physical semblances of a local. Easy to pull off considering his parents were Zeltivans, and he had been raised here until he was fifteen years old.
Matty set the brew on an empty table and took a seat. He leaned forward in his chair and looked at the green beer once again. Some of the locals at the table next to him began laughing "Com' on an take a swig. It'll put hair on yer chest!" Matty turned to them and smiled. There was nothing wrong with a good ribbing even if it was at his own expense.
He picked up the mug, held it towards the jovial table next to him as if to say 'cheers', and took a swig. The expression on his face spoke volumes as the table of onlookers next to him only began to laugh louder. By the gods what was this stuff ???
