He thought more about the equation at hand. Yes, there could be more done to it to make what he is after even better… Watching the class, though he doubted they could figure something else. They may be considered some of the best Alchemy students thus far, but they have a long way to go. Ray made sure they knew that. He made sure just because the students are in class that they don’t get a fat head. He made sure that each and every one of them will be great alchemists.
This class had potential, and even though it pained Ray to admit it this was true, if nothing else. Getting up from his formula he watched the students preform the transmutations. Spying one who is not concentrating just enough he calmly walked up to the circle and put his wounded hand on the circle, stabilizing the reaction, ”Concentrate, you.” he corrected the student manually smoothing out the flow going around the circle. He could feel the energy being taken ahold of by the girl, ”Good.” he said gradually releasing his mental control over the flux of energy, slowly retracting it until the girl had full control over it once more. He did not need any more botched experiments. No, he had already lost one. Taking his hand off the circle he walked away to examine the other circles. They all seemed to be doing great.
”Now class,” he stated, walking around, his hands held behind his back, ”When you are finished please leave your notes and observations with me. Leave the product of the transmutation where it is because you do not have the proper safety equipment to handle the substance.” with that he took a seat again at the head of the class. He turned and simply just watched. They all were busy finishing their experiments and writing their last notes, ”Oh, and please.” he said a word that barely came out of his mouth, ”write which circle you used so I can accurately judge your performance.” he nodded smiling the circles have been numbered before the experiment. Can anything be more perfect?
With that papers came filing in and students left the class one by one having had their lesson completed, ”Don’t forget about class in three days” he called to them as they made their way out. Soon the class was empty except for his stack of papers, the five samples of his alchemical substance, and the nuit himself. Sighing to himself he looked over the notes, the observations, reading words on the feeling of the alchemical flow, of how the substance was before and after. Novices. Was all he could think as he read over the notes. If that is how they were taught to take notes then he would have to give them a wakeup call. ”Trash” he said discarding one paper to the floor, ”trash” he passed judgment on another paper, ”Trash” he said letting another paper fall to the floor, ”Trash” he threw the other one, ”Trash” he ripped the last one in half. All of them were fools.
