Andalusia
Human, mixed (1/4 Inarta) Born on the 25th of the winter season, 494 AV Female 18 Years Old
5’5’’tall Weighs 120 pounds
Appearance Andalusia has smooth, ghostly pale skin, bordering between sickly and deathly, although at times can also have a hint of rosiness. Her hair is an extremely stark contrast, being jet-black and in a dishevelled heap of unkempt waves and curls, which she prefers more than anything else. Being one fourth Inarta, she’d inherited the glistening, iridescent emerald eyes of her grandmother; beautiful, gold-speckled and sharp even in the dimness of the forest. She has a heart-shaped face, her lips a dusty rose and often quite chapped from the cold, her expression always blank and emotionless, save for her eyes, which always seem to be shooting daggers from the way they look at people. When softened, she takes on a very different appearance and demeanor; the look in her eyes change to that of one’s filled with warmth and joy, and a genuine smile plays upon her lips, though she rarely ever shares such a thing to anyone but to her faithful companions. She has a lean, lithe, feminine form, though the muscles on her arms and legs are quite prominent, and is extremely light and on her feet, as well as quite flexible. Often time she is seen clad in her white embroidered torsolette, maroon shorts rolled up a little above her mid-thigh, sturdy black leather boots that reach just below her knee, and a hooded beige manteau tied around her shoulders. She never leaves her camp without her brown leather backpack strapped behind her back, her quiver belted around her waist, and her bow paired along with it. What she lacks in grace when she strolls around Sunberth, however, she makes up for with her shroud of mystery. |

Andalusia is cold, calculating, and often silent. She masks her crippling shyness and awkward social issues with a blank expression and a fixed glare, hoping to intimidate rather than to show weakness. Her lack of human contact leaves her unable to properly socialize and interact with other people, yet this weakness is immediately discarded whenever she is interacting with an animal. Often she is capable of feeling insecurity when around people, and is terribly worried about being misunderstood. Still, despite this, she maintains the sharp look on her face, in order to make sure that no one attempts to mess with her. When with strangers, she is devoid of emotion, unless stricken with anger or sadness. In the presence of others, she tends to try and hide any form of happiness or excitement, afraid that she may seem weak or ditsy, though this is usually easy, it is proven very hard to do when she sees adorable animals, which is one of her greatest weaknesses. She is, however, very much capable of ruthlessness, and has a volatile side that can easily let anger dictate her words and actions, due to the fact that she has been suppressing emotions in order to not appear any more than a hard, tough, unbreakable shell. Her smiles are rare, and therefore tight, yet genuine all the same, and only the comfort of her companions has ever allowed her to do so with soft, loving eyes. |
Ethics When it comes to hunting, Andalusia has no limits set for herself. The game she obtains from her trips into the forest are all for her survival, after all. She, however, has a great respect for wildlife, and will not kill any endangered species or ruin the beautiful landscape of the woods. Being terribly self-conscious, she is not very comfortable in the presence of other people, especially if they’re clad in nothing, or she is, which is why she prefers to bathe, swim and wash her clothing at the small little lake in the woods, rather than go into the hot springs or to the bath house. When needed, however, she is more than willing to sacrifice and put her anxieties aside. When interacting with people, she is generally respectful and kind with her words and actions, although seemingly cold, monotonous and distant. But when provoked, insulted, or disrespected, her voice escalates and her expression turns for the worst, leaving behind her apprehensiveness and unleashing quite a lot of her pent-up anger and frustration. |
Aside from horseback riding, hunting is Andalusia’s favorite past time. She often uses it as a way to earn her coin, as well as to acquire food for both her and Dante. Despite her absolute weakness for adorable animals, she does not let that get in the way of her hunting; whatever’s out there that can be eaten or sold, will be eaten or sold. Of course, only when necessary, she does not do it for fun, but for survival. She is most fond of butterflies and white rabbits. Often times she is seen lying around on the rolling fields near the Northern Wilds, resting along with Howlite and Dante after a long day of hunting, or deep in the forest at the small lake surrounded by the thick trees, where she often goes to bathe, wash her clothes, or swim. When she finds herself depressed or lonely, she tends to gravitate towards the Aquillar Hot Springs or the Pig’s Foot Tavern, otherwise, she will either hunt or lay sobbing in her tent until the feeling has passed.
Andalusia isn’t much of a fan of heavy armor and weaponry, since she does not have the body or build to use them. She abhors the tendency for humans to be rude and prideful, and she sometimes takes it as an insult when one treats or interacts with her in such away. Other times, however, such an act may lead her to admire the person’s strength and confidence, the latter being something she lacks greatly, although she hides it very well. She is often afflicted by nightmares and bouts of insecurity and depression, due to the lack of human interaction, and the loss of her entire family. Because of the negativity and pessimism that she has had from her past up until now, her mind has blocked some information on her own self, causing her to be forgetful of even her own last name. This, coupled with her crippling shyness, is why she is often frustrated with herself for having such a stubborn, vulnerable side. |
History Andalusia’s father was a pure human being, living in Syliras and training to become a Syliran knight. He was far too curious and adventurous, and so he simply could not sit still and practice inside the walls of his home. With his belongings and his horse, he traveled outside of Syliras to go on an escapade, vowing to return more wise and experienced in battle. However, his travels were put to a halt by a green-eyed woman with flowing, vibrant red curls; an Inarta. She was only half Inarta, though, with her mother being a full-fledged one, and with her father being a human. The two were absolutely smitten for each other and had fallen madly in love at first sight. Her father, being quite the careless man and her mother being just as clueless and eager to see the world, had both attempted to start a life together. Things were going relatively well, with the promise of a lifestyle of ease and happiness, but before her father could reach Syliras, Andalusia’s mother died giving birth to her.
Grief stricken and with a daughter that he wasn’t sure how to care for, he fled to Zeltiva instead to meet with his father’s old friend, who was a family man. There, Andalusia grew up and learned many things from the stunning amount of books that the old man had in his home. He taught her many things, including how to read and write, so she may take down her own notes and read the books he had available on her own. Her father helped the old man out with his fishing, and on his free time, taught her how to defend herself with a simple assassin’s dagger, and later on with a bow and arrow. Andalusia was a natural of the latter, which came from the Inarta blood that ran through her veins from her mother’s side. She also had a deep connection to animals, one she assumes to be due to an Inarta’s connection to his or her Wind Eagle. Around the age of ten, her father taught her how to ride a horse, and even how to shoot an arrow while on one. On her eleventh birthday, he had given her a horse to call her own; a Leopardbred named Howlite. Life was filled with joy, ease, and laughter indeed, living with the old man and her father, who were the only two people she’d been allowed to interact with. She was not allowed outside, in fear that she may be taken away or lost in the swarm of people. The world was a harsh, bitter place, they both told her constantly. Instead, she found contentment in their company, although small, and found solace in the presence of her horse.
Her father had been, unbeknownst of him, the kind of man to be easily swept by an ailment. He’d always been down with slight colds and coughs, but he’d never let himself be beaten down or defeated to the point of retreating into a bed. But sadly, a few years later, he had reduced into a bedridden, swollen heap, almost unable to move or speak. It was a painful time, seeing her father slowly perish, unable to say her name any more than its first letter. Sooner or later, he’d succumbed to the brutal sickness, and left Andalusia alone with the old man. He was kind, friendly, and very understanding, he was quick to become just like a second father to her. But ever since her father’s passing on, she had been unable to crack a smile or move any more than in a sluggish pace. To cheer her up, he’d purchased for her a Luvanor Grassland Hunter for her fifteenth birthday, a gift that helped her smile and feel more at ease instantly. Their life continued in a comforting, soothing silence, with her reading and learning, and him tending to his job as a fisherman. Unfortunately, being as he was, age had inevitably crept up on him. He died in his sleep on Andalusia’s seventeenth birthday. Unable to cope with the loss of her father and her second father figure, Andalusia entered a very dark, depressed stage, sleeping most of the day, crying most of the night, eating whatever was left in the house. She simply couldn’t find it in herself to step outside, under the sunlight, with all the people out there. She’d barely been able to interact with enough human beings to even converse with them properly. Instead, she spoke to Howlite, her horse, and Dante, but it of course was not one and the same. When the food in the house had been reduced to a week’s left of rations, she decided to flee and abandon the house, bringing with her Howlite and Dante, who were now old enough and close enough to her to survive outside. She’d bought a couple of equipment, prepared a tent, piled a few belongings into a backpack, and equipped Howlite with saddlebags to carry her other, larger items, including the materials for the tent. As she made her way out of Zeltiva and finding herself going into Sunberth, she decided to live among the trees and wildlife in the Northern Wilds near Sunberth; far enough from the harsh wilderness, and far enough from the pain of social interaction. |
