Izaya Orihara Physical Information Race: Human Age/Birth date: 25—born the 50th of Spring, 487 AV Gender: Male Languages: Common-Fluent Fratava-Basic Vani-Poor Physical Description He has dark hair and pale skin. He never seems to age at all, and always acts casual. No matter what. He moves and acts with supreme confidence, usually appearing very casual no matter the circumstances. His hair is black and a bit messy. His clothes all seem to fit loosely over him, wrinkling and scrunching up with his every movement. His eyes are a strangely pale blue and quite piercing. They are also strangely narrow and shrewd. He generally wears a little half-grin, nearly a smirk, but not quite as insulting. His nose is small with a slight point, and his face is narrow with a sharp chin. His body is slim but well built and muscular. Character Concept Izaya is very curious. In fact, it is probably his most prevalent attribute. His curiosity is quite like a child, in fact. He wants to know everything and see everything. He wants to find out the why and the how to everything. In fact, he wants this so much that in many cases he’ll do anything to find out. Literally, anything. In generally, he likes to consider himself an honorable man, but he is willing to throw that away completely if it means he gets something he wants. Beyond that, he is very arrogant, generally acting condescending to pretty much everyone. Of course, if there were a possibility that this would threaten his life or a particular goal he has, than he is willing to hide his arrogance just long enough to get by. But even then, he looks down on those he speaks to, just internally and without making it obvious. He believes that only the fittest survive, and if fittest means least pride, or most intelligence, or most flattering, than he is still the fittest. That is his view of himself—if a world of survival of the fittest, he sees himself as the pinnacle of fitness. So, summed up into three simple words, he is a ruthlessly curious egomaniac. Character History Izaya’s was born in Zeltiva, the son of a prostitute and a traveling con man. His mother didn’t want him, and frankly, neither did his father. He was, however, left with his father, who had at least enough morals to raise, albeit grudgingly, his son. It wasn’t until Izaya reached about the age of six, when he was complimented by a lady at the market that his father realized his potential. But once he realized it, he milked it for all it was worth. From that point on, nearly all of Izaya’s father’s scams included Izaya himself because, and this is what his father had realized, who can be suspicious of a kid? Just having a kid around made all his scams a bit more profitable. And so, starting from an early age, Izaya knew how to manipulate people into doing what he wanted. When he reached ten, his father began to teach him, what he called the con man’s two most valuable tools: Auristics and Hypnotism. It wasn’t too long before the Zeltivan authorities, such as they are, discovered Izaya’s father’s business, and he and his father were forced to move. After a bit of indecision, his father chose to move to Sunberth. He had already been driven out of a few cities before, and he felt that it was about time that he lived in a city where he didn’t have to worry about that anymore. And so Izaya and his father moved there. For self defense purposes, Izaya started to learn how to throw knives, but stopped very quickly due to how much money it would cost to keep buying more knives when he lost them. So instead he started learning acrobatics, in an attempt to throw any would-be attacker off balance when they attacked him and saw him backflip away from them. That’s his goal, anyway.
