Physical Description Name: Ohrae Strakur Race: Human Age: 24 Birthday: Winter 15, 487 God of Worship: Priskil Appearance At 6’, Ohrae is about average in height and weighs roughly 160 lbs. He’s not especially muscular; instead, he has a slightly soft look about him that is enhanced by the quiet, gentle angle of his eyes, which are the colour of damp wood. His hair is curly, lush and black, reaching his cheekbones and usually pushed back or to the sides. His chin is rounded but well defined, which accentuates the fullness of his lips (these being perpetually in a pout, though one that gives him an air of thoughtfulness). Personality Ohrae is as soft as his outward looks imply, being sentimental, optimistic and somewhat naïve whenever the occasion permits (which, in Ohrae’s case, is more often than not). He tends toward the dramatic, overly empathizing with people whom, oftentimes, he doesn’t even know. He’s jolly and charismatic and adept at cheering others up through jokes and songs. Despite this, he is incredibly studious and once he encounters something that he is interested in academically, he is completely absorbed until he is exhausted or pulled out of his reverie (which can take a lot of effort, depending on exactly how interesting the object of his scrutiny is). He avoids conflict whenever possible Character History Ohrae was born in Syliras. His mother was a skilled seamstress that made clothing that she sold at a stall; she was also a faithful devotee to Priskil and wonderful storyteller. Every night she told him stories: stories of hope, of magic, of a golden age of heroes and gods. His father helped his mother with the sewing, though he was a scholar and mage and complained often that he wasn't suited to the work. His father was also charismatic, though his charisma didn’t make him a storyteller. Whenever his father had the time, Ohrae would learn from him whatever his father would decide was relevant. Ohrae learned language from his mother, who grew up in Avanthal but developed a passion for travel later on in life. From his father, he picked up Shielding and the ways of piecing together facts, though his education was only just starting when his father died. Ohrae, then a young teenager, practiced his Shielding as a way of remaining close to his father. He got a job as a scribe, copying document after document, saving the Mizas that he earned toward going to the University. His mother continued to tell him stories, though now only when they were not otherwise occupied by the on-going struggle to survive. She died when he was freshly into his twenties; Ohrae mourned her loss for several years and her memory is still etched deeply onto the surface of his heart. His mother had left him some money, which he’d used to pay the first semester’s tuition at the University in Zeltiva. He hopes to learn more about shielding, as well as learn some about Auristics and, eventually, Reimancy (which he is most curious about, though mostly on an academic level). Since his mother's death, he's become more serious in his worship of Priskil; he's devoted himself to making sure that those around him maintain hope in a better future, hope that the golden age of his mother's stories is not impossible to reach.
