Jetsam Steepdive Basic Information Jetsam is a Svefran human born on Spring 35th, 485, making her 27 years old as of Spring 512. She is a member of the Steepdive pod, and works as a tattoo artist. Physical Description Jetsam is of average-to-tall Svefran height and build, but her appearance isn't easily forgettable. Her hair is naturally dark chestnut, but she dyes most of it and dreads it into fiery golden and red strands. It is mostly a little longer than chin-length, but so wild that while working, drawing or sailing she keeps it back in a silk navy headscarf. Her face is freckled and tanned from a life lived outdoors: she doesn't bother with makeup or jewellery very often although her ears and most of her facial features are pierced ready for any special occasions. She has a wild, untamed appearance, and a free and easy manner stemming from a lack of self-consciousness. Her left hand is tattooed with a green and blue snake, her right with a red and gold striped shark: the mouth opening as if her knuckles were the teeth. One knuckle has a small white scar, which she has turned into a highlight for the tattoo. Her features are defined and expressive and always ready to grin or glare. Her eyes are dark blue, and she wears simple, practical clothing with scarves tossed over for a splash of colour and large boots while on land. Character Concept Jetsam is a fiercely loyal and protective woman. She has many friends amongst her people and respects her family more than anything. She feels she has the perfect life, roaming the waters, socialising on the beaches and practicing swinging her Atani. She is happiest when with her pod though, and gives anything she earns from her tattooing skills straight to them. Jetsam has a tavan called Sheer, a grey nurse shark with sun symbols tattooed on his back. She often gets the feeling he disapproves of her frivolous and laid-back lifestyle, but she is probably just projecting her own deep-down restlessness. On the surface, living with her family and practicing her crafts is all she wants, coupled with the frequent, never-the-same-twice wild party nights on the shores or Anchorage. Jetsam dreams of adventure, but her life is never quite dull enough to encourage her to leave her pod. Still, she is often to be found making maps of far away places or even those familiar to her, as if imagining what it would be like to wander great distances alone. That's when the storm hit, and suddenly nothing was the same. Jetsam's Past Her childhood was happy and full of excitement, her adult life more a story of frivolous pursuits and meanderings than great achievement. Troubles came to her life when her grandmother, a healer, died suddenly and then again when her aunt later left the pod, leaving them without a medic. A few years later, her grandfather gave her his old tattooing equipment, saying his hands had become too shaky to use it.
