History The second son sired by a second son, this may have forged some special bond between the two males had Luvadros' birth not heralded the death of his father's wife. No prior history existed in the Orthilia web of Esterian tendencies, and indeed Luvadros' elder brother and sister were born of surrogates. Some desire within his mother—some insanity, his father would later say—grew until she finally insisted upon carrying their last child herself. Though this caused a great deal of tension and many arguments, eventually she got her way. Sadly, heartfelt as the attempts to prematurely extract the fetus were, she did not survive.
To say that his father held no love for or blamed him would be inaccurate. Luvadros was cared for no less than his older siblings by the rest of the web and not exactly ignored by his sire. There was, however, always a predominant note of sorrow in any interactions the two shared, something the son picked up on at a young age, though he did not then understand it. By the time adolescence had been reached, despite finally comprehending on some level the reason for his father's distance, the whole thing had become tiresome. In an immature bid for attention and also perhaps some clumsy attempt to latch onto the mother he'd killed, he began speaking regularly and loudly about the Esterian movement and how they had the right idea.
This worked in the sense that it caused a great deal of strain between not only he and his father, but in his relationships with the rest of the web as well. Never had it been a popular idea within the web, made even less so by the devastation caused by his mother's final decision. This backlash, however, only drove the stubborn boy more deeply into his budding beliefs, and as he grasped for justifications to shove toward his family, the idea began to develop that he would not be who he was were he born to a surrogate, so in a very real way his mother had died so that he, specifically, could live. Not just so a son would be born, but to create him as he was.
This concept gradually became a fixation. He wouldn't look the same, mightn't be as intelligent, mightn't have the knack for medicine he'd already started to show if she hadn't chosen what she had. This added to the strange sort of attachment he felt to his absentee mother in lieu of his reclusive father, and more and more he grew convinced that he had to find some way to make her sacrifice meaningful.
As he grew past fifteen and left the primary schooling to instead take private lessons, his focus on the medicine field began to narrow. So thin was their population, learning how best to deliver newborns was a popular and valued field of study, but the subset of those lessons he focused on most was closer to home, deliveries where the mother herself was Symenestra. Rarely has he gotten to actually perform any, but the knowledge is there along with the desire.
Convinced at first that he could eventually devise a way to medically treat Symenestra mothers or their unborn children in some way to keep both alive, he has recently begun to look into alternate means. Very little is known about the art so far, but the very basics of magical shielding were learned from a rare traveler into Kalinor, a budding ability he's kept private and practices each night, alone in the small house he's taken on the outskirts of the Orthilia web.
Though he paid for the training with coin and a small medical service, he was also gifted by the mage with a potentially valuable pet, a large Kelvic eagle-owl named Aril. Mildly flustered upon discovery that she is in fact female, he's done his best to keep her sequestered away and actively encourages her to keep to her owl form whenever possible, knowing the Orthilia Web would demand he make use of her as a surrogate or allow one of them to if they ever discovered her gender.
Possessions
Housing
A fairly small structure set away from the others of his web, Luvadros' home is kept pristine but simple, most of his time spent at the Purging anyway. Despite the modesty of the construction and lack of much decoration, organized portions of the floor and the nook in which he sleeps are carefully draped in numerous silks of rich but dark colors.
