Sam wasn't what one would call a ladies' man. Perhaps he would pick up a thing or two from Jaeden as they taught each other more practical skills, or perhaps those skills only worked for Jaeden because he was Jaeden.
He glanced back at the geysers before the forest claimed the riders and they began their journey to Syliras. Silence was something to which he had grown accustomed, though it wasn't really silent. There was the normal forest sounds. There was the hypnotic, rhythmic clop of Horse's hooves (he was going to have to check his right hind hoof later; something sounded off), their own breathing.
It was strange to ride tandem with someone, especially a stranger. Most people were strangers to Sam, though, and he was generally standoffish with too much physical contact, but this wasn't so bad. He knew better than most that humans were mostly herd animals. Was he lacking in sufficient contact? It bore thinking upon.
When the terrain became more familiar, he knew Syliras was close. He cleared his throat before speaking.
"Where do you want me to drop you off?"
