Physical Description
Born of mixed heritage, Sikuri strikes a strange balance between the exotically bland and the uninterestingly unique. A tall fellow with particularly broad shoulders by Vantha standards, Sikuri keeps his long, uncommonly brown hair meticulously neat, with locks bound in small beads and fetching strips of seal fur along the left side of his lightly be-freckled, unmarred mocha-colored visage. Similar to the People of the Aurora, the young half-Vantha shares the notable trait of eyes capable of shifting shades of variously colors through emotional response, albeit muted in their vibrant lucidity. Similar in fashion to his care for his hair, Sikuri takes great pride in keeping his face free of any unwanted follicles, going to great lengths to remain clean shaven formerly for the sole reason of preventing the unwanted conglomeration of ice and snow from clinging to his stubble.
Having spent his entire life amongst the Snowsong as a farmer, Sikuri has had ample time to sculpt his body into a rigid physique of rock-hard muscle; owing his physical endowment partially to his Sylirian heritage. With shoulders nearly as broad as the entrance to his Arvinta and a heavier frame noticeably sturdier than the more graceful residents of Taldera, Sikuri's half-Vantha nature stands out starkly in comparison to the delicate and genteel physiology of his pure-blooded compatriots. Even his hands lack the natural grace and finesse common amongst those native to Taldera's frigid hospitality, bearing slightly more compact appendages more common with humans of the eastern portion of the continent.
Character Concept
Resourceful, willful, and a jovially talkative and open fellow with a festive love for exchanging stories, Sikuri might emphatically be the classical embodiment that denotes the Snowsong Vantha’s way of life. While the Vantha might often be cited by uneducated outsiders as flighty ne’er-do-wells more interested in spinning yarns and carving sculptures, this notion couldn’t be farther from the truth. Sikuri – much like the bulk of his Hold – know the value of a hard day’s work, the reward of which is little more than the fact that the hardy folk of the Taldera will be fed for another season and, perhaps, a pat on the back for a job well done. When the workday is over, however, Sikuri took great joy in spending time with his Hold during the long and foreboding winter nights, bearing a strong personal familial tie to his Snowsong heritage even after his cryptic sojourn from his homeland. Spiritually, Sikuri shares the common practices of the Vantha, paying homage to his peoples’ patron deity, the Ice Queen Morwen, as well as the Great Bard Rhaus whenever he can best find the time to do so on his own terms.
Past the glee, love for tall tales, and strong familial bond, however, lies another side to the mixed-blood human; a side marred by fear and uncertainty of whom he truly is, or whether or not this is the life he truly wants. Even when he was younger, it was obvious he never quite fit in to the norm of Talderan society despite acceptance into the folds of Snowsong Hold; drifting somewhere between the cultural realm as a stranger within familiar lands, and a local resident within a world not his own. While not ungrateful or ashamed of neither his Vantha heritage nor his place in their society, there will always be that other side to his life – cryptic and elusive as it is – that will inevitably set Sikuri apart from his tundra-dwelling friends and family. Touched by a noticeable degree of naiveté outside the sheltered hospitality of Taldera, but with an unerring desire to discover the second spectrum of his existence, it is purely through Sikuri’s bold endeavors to discover his own identity that inspired him to set forth from the land and people that raised him and journey to the eastern seaboard; serving as both a selfish testament to his human nature as well as an endearingly adventurous spirit in his quest to determine his lot in life.
