"Moderation? It's mediocrity, fear, and confusion in disguise. It's the devil's dilemma. It's neither doing nor not doing. It's the wobbling compromise that makes no one happy. Moderation is for the bland, the apologetic, for the fence-sitters of the world afraid to take a stand. It's for those afraid to laugh or cry, for those afraid to live or die." |
There are at least a hundred women in the world who would kill to look like Kashik. Short, petite, as curved as well as any pleasure slave, she's without a doubt a stunning example of how beautiful and exotic a Drykas woman can be. She has a smattering of freckles across her nose and cheeks, a sign of innocence that contradicts the sultry glimmer in her teal eyes.
As her name suggests, though, it's her smile that's really the kicker - huge and brilliant, and given away without anything asked in return. It's something that her entire Pavillion is known for, and she does her family proud.
Kashik is happy, and wild, and that's just about anyone needs to know about her. She likes to drink, and fall into bed with strangers. She likes to fight, and laughs while she does it. She has, in fact, been known to get drunk, argue loudly with someone, get into a fight with them, and then drag them to bed afterwards.
In spite of her wildness, she's one of the best friends a person can have - assuming they can put up with all of that.
She was also blessed with a beautiful voice, and she'll sing at any opportunity.
Kashik is one of the middle daughters of the Brightsmile Pavillion, which is made up of her parents, three older brothers and their wives, two younger brothers, and two younger sisters, as well as three nephews and two nieces... plus two aunts and eight cousins, and another five children who belonged to them. More than enough to go around.
Like all her siblings, she trained alongside her father and learned to wield her spear as well as any of them. She's helped defend her Pavillion against all manner of dangers in the Sea of Grass, and taken surprisingly little hurt from it. Her battles were helped by her study of Reimancy, which she learned from her Aunt Gailia, who is a Marked Stormwarden. It is because of her that Kashik has studied how to control the magics of wind and air; she is more careful with Reimancy than she is with anything else, for she's been warned time and time again of the dangers of magecraft. Even so, she continues to practice it, desperate to achieve her goal of taking over her aunt's position of Stormwarden for the Brightsmile Pavillion.
All things considered, she's led a happy, healthy life. No great tragedy has befallen her, no sweeping romance has scarred her heart. She loves her family and friends, has earned her Windmark and adores her horse, worships Zulrav and hopes one day to be a Stormwarden. Simple, easy pleasures.
As Spring makes it's way through Cyphrus, Kashik has decided to travel to Riverfall to better hone her fighting skills among the fierce warriors of the Akalak - and also because she is restless, always looking for the next adventure, and thinks there might be something else beyond the Sea of Grass.
