Timestamp: late night, 36th of spring, 512, AV.
Location: edge of town and onto the Twin Lakes

Taln was no longer a part of the city whole. Not any caste or member of the only society he'd ever known. He didn't understand why things were different when he left the cave with Leo. The season had changed for starters but that was the small part.

Wind Reach was in shambles and nothing was still standing of the places he knew and grew up in. It was just... gone.

Why? He didn't ask to be homeless, friendless and alone! Taln didn't ask for this shyke and frankly, he was getting more and more angry. He couldn't retain a form, went weeks without eating, and knew Ancient Tongue which no one did! Not to mention, sharing a body with a know it all Velispar was not the best way to be!

Angrily he picked up a piece of volcanic rock and chucked it as hard as he could, with every miniscule bit of rage he felt going into the small gesture. The rock abruptly burst into raging flames in his errant hand, and became an immense fireball! It crashed heavily into the side of a cliff, knocking half the side off and and came crashing down like thunder. The huge weight crushed some dark, oval shaped objects nestled unseen beneath the rubble.

Molten eyes wide, it didn't quite register what he'd done, still riding on a blinding surge of temper at his predicament. Inferno/Taln kicked the solid rock in front of him, sending out a showering burst of sparks soaring into the air. It illuminated his already molten eyes and furious expression, though he was alone.

"If I'm not a Dek anymore, than what the petch am I?!" He growled into the dark night, his voice ragged. His feet had kept walking as he thought and acted out his rage, eventually leading him to the Twin Lakes. One foot stepped into the water and it boiled noisily, steaming and hissing against the fiery skin.

Abruptly, he ripped his foot from the water in fear. Never would he walk into deep water again! His last incident with that occurrence had not been pleasant. The moment succeeded in bringing him back to attention and the most recent moments flashed through his mind.

At first it was surprise at such unforeseen results at merely throwing a dumb rock.

"I made fire! That rock turned to fire! And it got bigger and took out half a cliff and--"

His voice stopped at the dawning realization that he'd just knocked half a cliff down onto WIND EAGLE EGGS! Taln's mind reeled with shock, guilt and grief as he dropped to his knees on the sharp, rough pebbles. What had he done?!

Aerin picked her way through the rocky slope carefully, the usual dek's burden of tiredness slowing her stride--more, this night, than usual, even. Her mind was heavy as her body, and her fluid eyes had lost something of their life. It had been a long day and a bad night, and the girl's exhausted body protested at the short distance left--and after the wearing workday, Aerin found herself disinclined to be trustful of someone who, after all, she'd so recently met.

Yet Aerin was close to Taln before she heard his anger, saw the flames, realized with horror where he'd thrown it. She broke into a run, reaching the edge and almost involuntarily peering over the cliff; disbelief had overcome fear in the instant, but had not destroyed her instincts, as without really thinking about it, she'd put an almost-safe-feeling distance (a not-insignificant one, for the fairly small area) between them. When she really looked at him, her first instinct was to double it, triple it, leave altogether. She'd forgotten in the time since she saw him last how very tall and strong the man was--in anger, he was truly frightening and her instincts took over, leading her to shrink away from him and hold her silence. Her gaze was fixed on the cliff below them, though--where the rock had landed. "Oh..." the sigh, sharp with grief, escaped her without her knowledge.
