A city floating in the center of a lake, Ravok is a place of dark beauty, romance and culture. Behind it all though is the presence of Rhysol, God of Evil and Betrayal. The city is controlled by The Black Sun, a religious organization devoted to Rhysol. [Lore]

Yaotl clutched at the walls of the Silver Sliver as she watched the unbridled chaos sweep down upon Ravok with merciless claws. Her heart pounded in its cage, but she couldn't here it over the pain and pleads of her fellow Ravokians.
Water swelled in the canals, hungrily lapping at her feet, and she darted up into the tavern quickly lest the freezing water swallow her whole. She watched from the door through, her eyes overflowing with fearful admiration for the rapture of Rhysol's rage. What else could this be but that? Who else held the city in their protective grip?
Rhysol.
Was she the only one who saw what he, in all his twisted glory, was doing? These people, his loyal followers, begged him to stop. They pleaded as the cold bit them and the water clutched at them. Their screams were the very music of Rhysol's symphony, and yet none rejoiced in happiness.
This was chaos in action. These people died with no rhyme or reason. Rhysol stirred them up with their fear, their terror and pleading consummating into greater chaos as people fought with one another.
She watched at two men clung to eachother and fled to safety across the canal with a slave or two. It interested her to see these glimpses of compassion shared between those suffering the fury of their god, but Yaotl could not dwell on that fact.
She turned with all others to the sound of distant confusion and despair as something big, something important, began to fall apart into the turbulent waters.
She heard it in their moans before the rage of Rhysol drowned them out again, and then she closed the door on their faces, turning to the others that took shelter in the Sliver.
"The Temple has fallen it seems. Will you join them in their weeping?" Her voice was dark as she glowered at them, fighting with her dress more as she moved deeper into the tavern. The scorn was evident in her voice.
Here was one of the greatest acts of chaos, and no one seemed pleased. |

In all the time he had lived here, he had never seen the skies so angry. Dark and brooding, so low as if threatening to spiral downwards and touch the ground. And to top it off, it was petching cold. There had never been a time when it had been this cold, almost cold enough to cause snow. It didn't help that it was raining. Raining wasn't the proper term for this.. monsoon that had seemed to hit the city. Water poured from the skies, and high winds were turning the normally placid water into a rolling, turning mass of waves. A wry smile pulled on to his lips, even as his walk sped up. It was turning into utter chaos within the city that supposedly worshipped chaos.
Well, they had to have been expecting something to happen. This was Rhysol they were dealing with. He'd given them decades upon decades of peace, surly he had to have been planning some sort of upheaval? A particularly strong wind hit, nearly blowing him off his feet if it hadn't knocked him into the wall of a nearby building. A shiver ran through him, soaked to the bone from the rain and continuously accosted by the winds. It didn't matter that the gods or nature had gone crazy for the day, if he didn't get inside and dry he was likely going to freeze to death. At the very least catch some sort of illness.
His eyes turned down the the young woman he had been speaking with when this storm hit. She was just as wet as he was, strands of her brown hair sticking to her face. "I'm sorry, I've nothing for you at this moment." He called above the howl of the wind. "We should find someplace else to speak." Staying out here seemed a foolish plan. Whether or not his acquaintance agreed with him, he was heading out to find safety from the rain and water. He turned, heading off. Each footstep sent water splashing up around his legs, a shock of cold that made his feet seem heavy with lead. Gods, he had never realized how much he despised rain. He broke out into a slow run, careful that his footsteps didn't slip on the went streets.
With how heavy the rainfall was, Alois was having a hard time seeing anything a few feet in front of his face, squinting against the torrent of water. He didn't realize exactly where he was until the maw of The Institute was upon him. He'd heard the stories and rumours about this building before, wondering if he should find somewhere else to hole up for the storm. A short blast of wind nearly knocked him flat, pushing him forward still. On second thought, this seemed like a perfect place to wait out the storm, if they would let them in. Alois looked over his shoulder, checking to see if the young lady had followed him, before pushing towards the door. |

Parah hugged her arms, helpless against the low temperatures. All her life, she had never experienced such frigid cold, and it was hitting her hard, causing her teeth to chatter. She hurried behind Alois, not knowing what else to do, so befuddled was she by the fierce change in weather. She had come to him(or her? Parah couldn't tell) for information, as she was tasked by her mistress, to learn anything that might benefit Yaotl's rise in power. Parah dared not return to her mistress now, having learnt nothing, and with the skies so dark.
She wondered what had displeased Rhysol so, to wreak such a punishment upon his city. Hurriedly, she scurried after Alois, pushing the wet tendrils of hair from her face that had come loose from her bun with the weight of the rain. she hoped that she would not catch ill from the cold and wet; her mistress would surely be angry with her if she did.
Parah followed Alois to the door of the Institute, grateful for a place to wait out the rain. |

The first day of spring. There was nothing to mark the occasion, not even a change in weather, thanks to Rhysol's protection of the city. And yet, something about it being spring made her feel...frisky. Or maybe spring had nothing to do with it. Nevertheless, she was in the mood to visit a certain favorite establishment.
She had barely left her apartment when she noticed something was wrong. She felt...sleepy. Like she just wanted to lay down and rest. She pulled her jacket tighter and kept walking, her pace steadily slowing until she was barely shuffling along.
Then, the rain started, and Iskessah knew what was happening. She had been in Ravok far too long if she'd forgotten what weather was! She slapped her face a few times to wake herself up, and forced her sluggish legs to pick up the pace. Rather than unnerve her, the storm made the rattler Dhani feel slightly nostalgic. She had never been caught out in a storm as bad as this, but as a youngling she has often heard wind and rain from inside the safety of her nest. As comfortable as the city was, she sometimes missed variations in the weather.
Before long, she was completely drenched, and the wind was threatening to tear her off her feet. But petch it, she had decided to visit the House, and no piddly little storm would stand in her way! Clinging to the walls in an attempt to minimize the effect of the wind, she fought the storm with every step she took toward her destination. Every sense felt cut off; the rain blew in her eyes making it difficult to see, and the wind drowned out all other sound. Everything was so cold, she couldn't even sense the nearest heat source. All tastes and smells were washed away by the storm.
Nevertheless, she pressed on, knowing the city and especially her destination well enough to find it despite the storm. Finally, many chimes later, she was standing just inside the closed door, dripping on the floor of the House of Immortal Pleasures. |
