Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

Rykanis often wanted to better himself, so could quite often be found training at one of the Sasaran. He knew as an akalak it was his duty to do so, and become more skilled so as to be able to protect his home of Riverfall, lest it should befall any trouble.

He was ready to get a good workout, starting with some basic stretches, and then getting right into the fray. He came right at one man, trying to tackle him, only to be sidestepped. Rykanis spun around and gave him a kick in the back, to which he got a punch to the gut in return, and knocked on his butt.

He simply smiled as he got back up, showing no fear, ready to go at it again. He was particularly excited to fight today, after last night, and wondered if he would ever see the kelvic again, after mentioning were he trained...

[Tuvya Sasaran]What about the other leg?

Dex awoke at dawn as per his usual schedule. He watched the sun rise, this time from the top of the statue his den was under. While watching, his mind reviewed what had happened last night. Long story short, he had ended up having determined that he needed to know how to fight, and he even had a place to go to for it, a building called Tuvya Sasaran.

But first, some breakfast. He scrambled down the statue and went hunting, heading over to the house he had entered last night and met Rykanis. After crossing some streets, racing under and between feet, he found the house. He went around to the tunnel he had used last night, one created by rats who were in the area. Since Rykanis had done him a favor, he decided to do him one, by hunting out some rats. But per his request, he did not enter the house.

After tracking down a small mouse and a medium sized rat in the area, which was a decent meal for starting the day off. He returned to the park, and dragged out his human clothes. Taking a few minutes to flash into human form, get dressed, and get a quantity of mizas, he went down to the edge of the park, where signs pointed out various prominent places in the city. Eventually, he did find the place, which was on the other side of the city on the side of a park. Promising himself to stop by the park on his way out for hunting, he entered the building.

He was soon overwhelmed by the smell of sweat, dirt, and a few other things he didn't want to bother identifying. There were several akalaks, plus a few humans and even a few races he wasn't sure of, all working at various places in various fashions. For awhile he simply wandered around the building, checking out different parts of the singular large room and what they were doing.

[Tuvya Sasaran]What about the other leg?

Postby Rykanis Dakshata on April 19th, 2012, 11:16 pm

Rykanis was in the thick of a battle, ducking, sliding, punching, kicking, attacking in a frenzy at his foe, who was able to block most of his attacks. He was really enjoying the action, of going at it and using his limbs, when he got a bit distracted.

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a person, whom he had last seen naked in his room last night. He certainly had not been expecting to see him again, and wondered if he was following him.

However having this inattention in the midst of a fight was not a good idea, and he payed dearly for it. He saw a movement of his foe, a blur in the side of his vision, and a flash of pain as his foes fist connected with the side of his head, and he saw bits of light and squiggly bits squirming around.

When he came to, he shook his head, and realized he had been knocked out, and dragged off to the side. His foe was now fighting someone new, and grinned upon seeing him stir after clocking him.

Rykanis slowly got to his feet, the dizziness slowly fading away, though the side of his head still throbbed a bit. He reached up and felt it, to find a decent bruise forming, but no blood, a good sign.

Was he was feeling recuperated, he found the kelvic from the night before, and walked over to him.

"Hello, what are you doing here... What was your name again? Come here to train?"

He could not recall its name, though he was not sure if that was due to him never being told, or even an affect of the blow, or possibly it had just slipped his mind. Regardless, he smiled at the kelvic, his head still throbbing.

"I see you took my words to heart, and decide to learn to fight? Would you perhaps like to spar with me, I could at least show you some basics."

John had been walking around the outside of the "ring" and watched as Rykanis was in his fight. When he had gotten pulled off to the side, John winced slightly thinking how much that punch had hurt. While he may be determined to learn how to fight, he knew there would be significant obstacles, dealing mainly with his personality. When Rykanis had woken back up, he eventually approached John and talked to him.

"Umm, call me whatever you want. And yes, I want to learn how to fight, and I guess that means learning the basics. Let's go."

Trying to keep an uplifted attitude about it, inside he was squirming nervously, and felt out of place and not sure what to do. He quenched that feeling and made his mind focus.

[Tuvya Sasaran]What about the other leg?

Postby Rykanis Dakshata on April 20th, 2012, 4:03 pm

Rykanis simply smiled, as the kelvic had given him the go ahead. Perhaps he would show him a trick or two? Though he did wonder how he had made it this far, without at least a basic understanding of how to fight.

"Well, rule number one, as I just so well showed, keep your eyes and focus on the fight. If it slips, you will get hit, and in a real fight, that will get you killed. I would be dead right now if that had been real."

Rykanis was enjoying himself a bit, as he came up to the kelvic. He attacked him head on, throwing a few faints, and then aiming a light punch to the shoulder. Enough that if it hit it would smart, but not so much as to grievously injure him. Just enough to make him want to do better at avoiding it next time.

"Next, if you know you are outclassed, don't fight. Not in a real fight. If you are a complete novice, all you will do is get yourself killed. Wait until you are at least reasonably skilled."

Rykanis moved a bit more, not keeping still, giving the kelvic the chance to take a shot at him if he wanted. If he did, he would try to deflect it either with a punch of his own, or by his palm and thrusting the arm away so it missed him. Sort of like how one deflects a sword attack with your own blade. But the same concept carried over pretty well.

Dex watched as Rykanis started explaining about the basics of fighting. After he explained that he can't get hit, he started moving back and forth in front of Dex. He swung a punch at Dex's face, and Dex watched it come. As it came towards him, he stepped back out of reach, to avoid getting hit.

He then explained that he shouldn't fight with someone who was better then he was. This seemed counterproductive, since Rykanis was better then he was at fighting, and yet this seemed the best way to train. Deciding that training was different then fighting, he continued watching Rykanis bounce around in front of him, and ducking or stepping away from a few punches.

Thinking that fighting's objective was to injure someone, and having watched Rykanis's first spar, he swung his fist at Rykanis's chest. After that, he found himself laying face down in the sand of the arena, and feeling considering pain in the side of his head.

[Tuvya Sasaran]What about the other leg?

Postby Rykanis Dakshata on April 21st, 2012, 1:17 am

Rykanis threw a few practice punches, not really trying to hurt or hit the kelvic, letting him easily dodge it at first, so he could try and get a hang of it. But as he did he slowly sped up, getting close to his normal speed. Though still not using full force, as an akalak being as big as he was,he could hit pretty hard...

Of course Rykanis had not meant that the kelvic should not fight at all, he had simply meant he should not fight someone really skilled in a serious fight, until he was at least of a decent skill. He himself did not even consider himself good enough to fight in a real fight. Not if he wanted to live.

Of course growing up in Riverfall, with all of its amazing fighters, his view of what a normal fighter was, was a bit skewed. Of course he had no way of knowing that the kelvic had misunderstood him.

As the two of them continued fighting, he tried once to hit him, to which Rykanis responded with a punch of his own. he had simply been trying to aim for his shoulder, but due to a combination of bad lack, the fact that Rykanis was so tall, and that his partner sidestepped right as he threw the punch, his blow connected hard with his skull.

He had not meant to hit him that hard, or on that place, but somehow it had ended up happening. Call it beginners unluckiness.

"Ah, sorry, my bad, how unfortunate..." Rykanis reached down his hand, to lift the kelvic up off of his feet.

"Well, it was bound to happen eventually. Everyone gets hit sometimes, I have plenty of bruises to prove it. Better if happened now, and not when someone was really trying to hurt you."

Once he got him back up, Rykanis moved the kelvics body a bit, trying to get him to bend his knees and elbows a bit, so that he was both a bit less of a target, and was more able to move quickly. Best to keep springy. Along with that he explained how he needed to stay in motion, and keeps his arms and legs ready at all times to move.

Then he would get back into fighting, and let him throw a few blows at Rykanis, doing his best to simply dodge them.

[Tuvya Sasaran]What about the other leg?

Dex took the large blue akalak's hand and felt himself pulled almost completely in the air before settling on his feet. Along with some physical abnormalites, his ferret form generally kept him lightweight as a human.

Listening to Rykanis, he learned that he ought move more, being springy. Inside his little ferret mind, the wheels started turning. He threw a few punches, just things that felt awkward and unfamiliar, while still thinking. Springy .... Tramopline .... Bouncy .... Acrobatics .... Ferret movement. Working his way back into the fight, stretching out his legs and arms a little, he realized that he had to stop acting like a human fighting, and more like a ferret. When a ferret got cornered, it sprayed, hissed, bit, and became a small tornado of an angry furball. This was way to inflict injury, aka Fighting.

Dex started bouncing lightly on his feet before he started crouching down. Instead of being about 3/4 as tall as Rykanis, when he crouched down and started moving back and forth, his head ended up at Rykanis's waist. He bounced around, sliding back and forth on the sand. More then once he slipped and had to get back up, but he soon learned how to slide on the sand without actually slipping.

Something small changed in his mind though. Maybe it was the ferret in him, maybe it was determination, maybe it was something totally random. He lowered himself that he could use his hands to push off on the sand, and launched himself around Rykanis. Then he launched with his feet, intending to jump up and land on his back, where he hoped that Rykanis couldn't get at him while he tried to pound away.

[Tuvya Sasaran]What about the other leg?

Postby Rykanis Dakshata on April 22nd, 2012, 6:53 pm

Rykanis watched as the kelvic thought what he had said over. It was clear he was working in his mind, he could almost hear the gears grinding in his head. Finally, something seemed to fall into place, or click, as he began moving once more, much looser.

He almost laughed as he saw the tiny man crouch, he seemed so tiny when he did, compared to his own prodigious height. He continued bouncing around, staying loose. Though he was not all that graceful, and repeatedly slipped and fell, messing around.

Rykanis would let him, better for him to get it out now while reasonably safe, not when being attacked or hunted, and get eaten.

Then all of a sudden he did some odd thing, trying to jump around on all fours. This might have worked better in kelvic form, but since in human form his arms were not the same length of his legs, it did not quite work out properly...

As he bounded around, and tried to hop onto his back, Rykanis slid to the side. He had already been planning to dodge his attack, so though it was unforeseen, he was already moving to avoid. He managed to sort of dive out of the way, though it turned more into a slide, and he only managed to just get out of the way. He was no expert acrobat, so he ended up on his back laying on the ground.

Though this was unfortunate for the kelvic, as he had likely devoted himself to the attack in the air, and would likely go soaring past Rykanis, probably to land in a heap of his own, or maybe a bit more gracefully than Rykanis' attempt with little success.

Though it was always best to be careful with such moves that both left you so open, and devoted you to the attack.

[Tuvya Sasaran]What about the other leg?

Dex found his human body quite different then his ferret form in reference to crawling. When he scrabbled about, his back legs and front arms were different lengths, making him awkward and unbalanced. Deciding that he was going to have to use only his back legs, he made adjustments in his way of thinking.

Unfortunately, this all took place as he dived past Rykanis, watching the large blue target suddenly move out of the way. Finding himself now rapidly returning to the ground, he tucked into a roll from his acrobatics. However, not being as skilled as most in the profession, he ended up rolling forward and flopping not gently on his back. Feeling the adrenaline still pumping through his head, he rolling over in the sand and kicked his legs up under him, planning to leap again at Rykanis.

For strength and being able to cause injury, a ferret really wasn't the best animal. But for being able to run, climb, and jump, it was one of the best. His human feet gripped hard into the sand and he leaped up at the large blue form on it's side along the sand, Rykanis having slid when he dodged the first awkward leap. Having slipped into a ferret mind set, but trying to adapt it to his human body, he forgot that biting was generally considered inappropriate. As he came to hopefully land on his victim, Dex opened his mouth and curved his fingers into his regular claw shapes, feeling no restraints as the adrenaline rush took hold.
