Social Graces(Zandelia)

"Whats the target?" The Thief asked right out, for he had no reason to beat around the bush. Thieves were straight and narrow, their survival depended on it. He looked at her with those dark piercing eyes, "And how quick do I need to be to get in and out?" He asked before turning back to their target, watching over the building. He was already surveying it and seeking a weakness that he could exploit. Open windows, chimneys, and even a broken window could help a thief out if he knew where to look. Leon sighed, as he thought quietly to himself Shadow Lady, there is only one way in it seems, with my lockpicks. Already his hand was in his pocket, stroking the probe and lockpick. One to detect traps and disarm them, the other to open the way forward.

“Inquisitive?” she asked him, raising an eyebrow as if in reprimand, before smiling and looking away and towards the target property once more, “good, you are not just a pretty face after all. I try not to use fools, and a fool is what you would have been if you had had no questions this night” she told him in a slightly warmed tone before continuing on in a more practical and business-like one.

“The answering of the second question is the simplest in that it is as quickly as we can Leon, as quickly as we can. I am aware there is a window of time perhaps a Bell in length, maybe more if we are lucky. However, I don’t like to trust to luck when I can trust to abilities,” she stated pointedly, seeking to banish any thoughts in his mind of roaming the property for as much as his mitts could carry, “and it would be preferable to get out with a barrier between us and the arrival of the owners. I’m sure they wouldn’t take kindly to seeing us packing things into a bag and trying to fight our way out of the door” she noted, sternly serious now.

“I’d rather not be noticed at all if we can help it. The best success is the unknown one, ironic no?” she chuckled a little then, softly, as she watched the street and let her observant gaze take in the property before them once more.

He is cautious and want to know what to expect, very wise. But it might be a quality suited to meddling more than I’d like if I am not careful she thought, all too aware that this test would either seal or doom Leon’s place as a possible partner in her machinations.

There were few entrances hat were simple to use to her eye, and simplicity was a magical tool she liked to use. Where others would weave webs of needless complication she saw the value of a blunt object. She liked to weave her own little nets, using them to dredge what she could from the silt at the bottom of the pecking order, however she also knew when simplicity was the best route. This night was a fine example, the door being the most direct and easiest entrance for the pair of would-be thieves. She took in the windows but merely saw them as a possible hasty escape route, the rope coiled upon the small of her back useful for something for once. The roof was far too much effort for the small amount of time they possessed, not to mention that she dearly wished to see just how good Leon was with a lock.

“The objects of value are mostly coin purses filled with shiny miza’s. There are a few goods of value to be found within, weapons perhaps easy enough to transport. There are some more…personal affects…however that I am more interested in. Call it paying a favor for a favor dear Leon, you will profit from it I promise you” she left the rest up to his imagination. She did not wish to reveal too much to him from the start, seeing how his skills would fare being of more interest to her. If it came down to it she would tell him everything, but she was confident it would not be necessary. Still, she decided to give him a clue to keep his mind occupied.

“Still, a small hint perhaps is in order. What, if anything, would someone of my inclination desire above all else? Why, a book of course! A malrge one, bound in black leather so I am told, but like as not to appear dogged and worthless to msot” she told him, all too aware he would only have rumor and his own perceptions to draw upon.

“The plan is simple enough to initiate, you will go and I shall cover you well enough to get the job completed. You told me you’d show me what you were made of, so show me” she challenged him with a soft smile in the darkness.

Social Graces(Zandelia)

The Thief smirked as he surveyed the house for a quick moment, before striding over to the door silently. He moved as quiet as he could, slipping the lockpick into the door, turning it for a while. He finally felt the tell-tale giving of the lock and pushed the door forward. He slipped inside, dropping to a crouch. For a moment he waited, letting his eyes adjust, before moving on, seeking out the book. He noticed first, however, was a jewel, a small little agate that he swiped with a smile. His movements carried him to the book shelf where he spotted the old, tattered book. He lifted it carefully, his hands making sure little sound was heard before he turned, and grabbed a second book that looked almost like the first.

Once his theft was complete, he would turn, making his way over and out the door, silently closing it back. He held the two books out to Zandelia, "I hope I did my claim justice, darling." He smiled, his dark eyes holding little humor.
