Spring Day 53, 512 John had his den of course, but lately it was just starting to get crowded with all the shiny things he took to collecting. Following this train of thought, he had to think of a way to securely store human sized items, and have it disguised. Deciding to browse for something, John climbed out of his recently purchased fur cap, and dragged his shirt and then his pants out of the den. A quick flash of light, and then he stood there in human form, pulling his pants on and slipping into his shirt. He then reached down into the den and pulled out his fur hat, which he then filled with the shiny things merchants like, the gold mizas. He wasn't sure how much they were going to want, so he took out a lot. Carefully he went to the business area, and found something that caught his eye in a stall on the opposite end of the block he started walking down. It was a hunting store, and he was about to skip it until he saw the forest tree blind. "Perfect!" He exchanged over a rather large amount of the shiny things, almost in pain, to the man running the store until they gave him the blind. Apparently it had to be constructed at the place, and took only an hour. With any luck, no one would notice what he was doing until it was well camouflaged. Thinking of that made him trade over a handful of coins to buy a camouflage tarp, which he could put on top so no one could see what was inside either. Talking with glee, he then decided to take the tree stand and the camouflage tarp to his den. Once there, he put the hat with the coins back safely in his den, and began to set up the tree blind in a tree that off the park paths, but still close to his den. It took longer then an hour to set up, because John had no experience in building things. However, once it was properly set up (He had set it up several times improperly before then), he put the camouflage tarp to cover the bottom of it, and it looked like it was just a large expansion of brush and greenery on the tree. Following these happy thoughts, he decided to begin purchasing the actual items he had originally wanted. Instead of returning to the first place he had searched, he went to a specific store on the opposite side. This store catered to street artists and the phony magicians, where John could get more interesting supplies for his juggling act. He had his hat of coins again, and set about buying a shiny set of dice, which of course enchanted John. He also decided in buying a hemp rope, which he had a purpose for some of it, and was sure he would find another purpose for the rest. Following that, he found a speaking horn, which said it would make him sound louder. He wasn't sure if he could use it or not, but he thought of some funny uses for it. The man there then talked John into buying a fine lock-box, designed to protect his new purchases. Nodding in agreement, he then bought that. After taking those, he found the thing he really wanted. It was a trampoline, which would be most excellent for John to practice his acrobatic stunts. Checking it over and finding it most acceptable, John handed the 80 gold coins, essentially emptying his hat. Once he returned to the tree, he stripped quickly and changed into ferret again. Then he bit down on the end of the hemp rope, and climbed up the tree into the blind, bringing the rope with him. Once at the top, he flashed back and tied the rope to a secure hook inside the blind, making a rope he could climb up and down as a human. He took the trampoline back to his new forest blind, where he put the trampoline kit in, under the camouflage tarp. Next to it he put his fine lock-box, where he put in the silver dice and the speaking horn before closing it and locking it. He would carry the key into his den, keeping it safe. After a few moments thought, he took the trampoline kit back out and set it up right there in the park. In a state of almost giddiness, he took the time to make sure he did it right, and then happily jumped onto it, bouncing higher and higher. Loving the feel as he bounced up and down, moving around and learning how the trampoline reacted, John then moved to the center, bouncing up and down, going higher again. Once up there, John flipped forward and bounced in a hand stand position, before continuing the flip over and bouncing again. Finding that easy, John went and practiced different things, from side bounces, to full flips, which he didn't do so well in, to more hand stands. After doing the basic things, he made up his own tricks, bending and bouncing in more interesting ways, not always making it work well. More then once he landed wrong and hurt a muscle or few, but continued on in sheer joy. After doing this for quite awhile, he decided he ought to sleep again, and rest his now slightly sprained muscles. Fortunately, the trampoline, once built, was easy to fold into a compact box shape, which he then took up into the forest tree blind, under the safety of the camouflage tarp. Figuring that he would climb to the blind in ferret form and change there into human when he decided to go out and about again, he took the clothes off and just left them there in the blind. After making sure the rope was pulled up inside the blind, he flashed into ferret form, and crawled down the tree, into his den a little ways off, and into his fur hat, after he moved the few remaining coins out, and promptly fell asleep, with happy dreams. |
