What was black at first began to transform, Sho’s eyes snapped open upon the sounding of a chorus of indiscernible whispers, and softened to a dull rumble that did not sting the ears, but had not been entirely ignorable.
It was dark to her, and barely enough light to see much of anything beyond reach…
Her gaze sank to her hands, both clasped together in her lap and palms upward…yet there was nothing held between them. The skull she carried with her, missing or stolen, or rolled away to a destination unknown…
Her breath began to race as she leaned forward on hands and knees, crawling in the dark and feeling out in desperation with both hands…
“I’m sorry! I’m sorry!” She called out. Somewhere out there, she heard the many whisperings transform to chattered laughter.
Panic.
“I didn’t mean to lose you! Where are you!?” The poor Konti woman began to wail, and scrambled forward quickly with enough pressure that could bruise.
“…Over here.” She heard amidst the whispered laughter, and flickering of darker shadows passed across her field of vision toward the ‘kindly’ directions.
“Just stay there! I’m coming! Don’t move!” Sho called out, continuing to crawl.
