"By the sands of destiny, a single crow was born. This crow did not utter a single cry as she came into the world, and not once since. For that, we named her Jaspayia." Jaspayia My name is Jaspayia. I was born on the 84th of Spring, 22 years ago. I am a Chaktawe of the Suli Tribe. I am a bit shorter than most of my tribe, lean, strong. I have Syna blessed skin and hair like the feathers of a the Crow. My eyes are dark like a Lethless night. My legs are long, my muscles are lean, taut, like a scorpion. I do not use the white paint common in my tribe, preferring the red tint. I am not concerned with being beautiful, for I am Suli, the most beautiful of the sand dwelling peoples. I have long lashes, to keep the sands out. I do not keep beads of bone in my hair very often, it makes it more likely to be heard when invading an oasis. I prefer to use feathers, different ones depending on what I intend to do, some are decorative, others camouflage. I wear a dark feather bodice, and a knee length feather skirt. For the frigid nights, I have a heavy mantle made of feathers. Ever since I was named, I was taught the ways of my tribe, and how to survive in the sands. But I don't just survive, I thrive. I was taught the ways of plants, the bow, the knife. I have not taken a husband yet, for none have proven to be worth their weight in water. I work hard for the good of the tribe, and hope to make them proud. |
