Blitz Schutzhund work example. No, they are not actually hitting the puppy. They're waving a stick around her head to accustom her to noise and yelling and things near her face. She's only a puppy and this is -Novice- beginner bite work as he's only 7 mos old. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- To understand Blitz better I've included his 'work resume.' A training baton is used not to hurt the dog but to accustom him to noise and objects touching him to desensitize him to sudden movement, sound and feeling. It's made of foam and lightweight Polycarbonate--so as to never harm the dog. This is not aggression in any form by dog, trainer or handler. This is proper Schutzhund bite work with advanced obedience. Listen closely and you'll see the dog immediately release the bite sleeve on command, then resume a strict 'hold.' This dog is not showing anger or malice during the training. Note the wagging tail and constantly raised paw to show that he considers this play and so much fun. His bite hold is like you grabbing someone's arm with both of your hands and playing tug of war to get that sleeve off. You'll see some aggressive instances as I RP Blitz, but it's not out of malice. I can't stress this enough. When a dog is trained to guard things and encouraged to assert dominance over strangers, that is what they'll do. It's not a mean dog thing, nor a killer instinct thing. Blitz has bonded to Levi and displays behaviors to please his owner/bondmate. I've purposely chosen this look in a dog so you can see they are smart, loyal dogs. No dog is a stereotype of viciousness just for the hell of it. They're not people and that would be a purely human trait. Thanks for reading this.
