Center of scholarly knowledge and shipwrighting, Zeltiva is a port city unlike any other in Mizahar. [Lore]
Spring 88, 512 AV It had been long enough in the city for Marin. It was time to get back to the nature that he was used to. The wood and stone of the city treated him coldly, the buildings kept him trapped inside a beautiful, decorated jail. The streets directing him were like un-flowing rivers, cold and frozen; without feeling. The city, no matter how spectacular, still, was dead.
Marin liked the city without walls, the surrounding landscape almost part of the city, yet far enough away it wasn't. Still, it was time to get back to nature. Soon he neared the outer banks of Zeltiva, the mountains, always somewhat visible, filled his view, full and strong. The slopes were a green river of pines and evergreens. The edge of the wall-less city appeared, the urban land fading into dirt, the nature hitting full force after that.
Marin could see the small dots of clearings on the hilly landscape, some so far up the slopes they were the size of a small pebble to him. There looked to be a path connecting them, but the forest of the mountain hid the landscape below.
Looking around, Marin saw a well hidden entrance of a small path. He quickly decided to explore the slopes, following the path. In one hand, his father's bow, the other ready to snatch an arrow and shoot.Just in case...Marin thought. ____________
An hour later, Marin stood in a small clearing, looking back down upon the city of Zeltiva. The beautiful city looked like a shining star resting on the earth; the bay a sea of the bluest water. “What a place this is....” Marin said to himself dreamily.
OOC :
I would assume that Marin would hear a sound of Zerren approaching, but go ahead and take whatever direction you like.

The rabbit, nibbling away at the plant before it, had its ears perked up and swiveling, alert for any noise that would alert it to predators. Of course, Zerren made no noise as he slowly crept forward towards his prey. I've got you now you delicious little pest...
As Zerren finally got within pouncing distance, he gave an internal sigh of relief. Thrice already today had he had a rabbit in his sights when some random forest noise had spooked it and caused all the time spent finding it and creeping up on it to be wasted. Not this time though, the wind is still, the birds are quiet, there isn't a living soul within thirty...SNAP, the cracking of a twig from Zerren's left echoed through the otherwise silent trees, interupting his thought and scaring the rabbit into running. No! Not this time you mangy little snack!
But even as Zerren sprang forward, the rabbit had jumped up and ran off into the forest. Zerren growled in frustration as he saw the rabbit's white tail flashing away between the trees. I'm going to find whatever made that noise and kill it slowly.
Zerren turned and stalked off in the direction the snapping sound had come from and came upon a clearing in the forest with a man standing there, a long bow in his hand, staring down at the city below him. Okay, so killing him isn't really an option, too many problems when people find the body, and I don't think I could stomach eating him...
Zerren pondered what to do for a moment before deciding on a course of action. He quickly moved to where he had stashed his clothes before attempting to kill the last rabbit and shifted, nearly knocking himself unconsious on a low hanging branch as he did so. He quickly dressed and walked back to the clearing in his human form. He stepped out and called to the man in a sarcastic tone, "Hello there stranger, what would a fine gentleman like yourself be doing in the woods today? Besides scaring the game for the rest of us i mean."

“Oy! Hello!”said Marin. He looked at the man, his face scarred, his dirty appearance. He is almost animal-like...thought Marin. He stood there looking sarcastically at Marin, almost trying to guess what he was doing there.
Another thought came to Marin’s mind:Where is his weapon? How could he be hunting game?
Marin looked over the man again.Kind of short, athletic, the unruly black hair... What could he be up to?
“I am quite sorry for scaring whatever you were hunting... What would that be in fact? I seemed to notice that you don’t have a weapon.”
OOC :
This is looking good so far. Keep it flowing! Also, hope you like the dynamic irony!

"Feh, a real hunter doesn't have to have something to hunt with. They use what they were born with." Zerren began to walk forward and looked the man over a bit more seriously as he did. The man was a little bit taller than Zerren, and seemed quite a bit skinnier. This guy doesn't look too tough... And i can't imagine him being able to catch a cold, let alone a rabbit... Zerren stopped about five feet away from the man. "What's your name stranger? And just what were YOU expecting to catch with that glorified stringed stick?"
OOC :
I answer your dynamic irony with dramatic irony! Also, his faced isn't really scarred, maybe scratched a little from the branches, but not scarred...
“I was planning on being safe in this damned area! Have you never seen the forest?”retorted Marin, as he raised his bow arm. The glorious bow almost glowed in the afternoon sunlight. The scene would have been beautiful if you couldn't see the anger in Marins face. What was this man doing here? He seemed without any knowledge of these lands.
Zerren looked at the man, holding his bow out to his side and yelling some nonesense about it keeping him safe. "I would tell you that a weapon doesn't mean that your're safe, but i'm sure you'd keel over at the meer suggestion that your little bit of dead wood isn't the gods' greatest gift to civilization."
Zerren laughed at the flustered looking man. "Adding that to the fact that you STILL haven't told me your name, i'm rather close to assuming that you're simply an idiot." And if that's the case... What kinds of things could i get you to do for me scrawny man?
Zerren reassesed the man standing in front of him and considered a way that the man might make things a bit easier for him. He probably won't be able to catch much, but even one rabbit would make us even... hmmm...
“Fine! My name is Marin. That is all.”claimed Marin, as he stared at the man."Now that I have surrendered the power of my name, what is yours, kind sir?"Marin looked closely at the man, now standing about five feet from him. He seemed sort of un-human in a simple way. His posture is almost catlike...
OOC :
Oh yeah?! and sorry these are so short, they are kind of just speech.....
Zerren carefully reconsidered how he was going to speak with this Marin character. I need him calm enough to accept a challenge, but still angry enough to think its needed... "It's Zerren. Now tell me, how long have you been in this area Marin? Becuase when someone stumbles around as loudly as you were, they tend to be lost."
Zerren continued to study the man, how he stood and how he handled the bow. He looks like someone who knows forests, but if he doesn't know THIS forest, i'll have an edge in any competition we might have... Zerren rubbed his nose with one hand as he thought. And even if he DOES know the forest, i'm sure i can out hunt him in my sleep with all the noise he makes just walking along.
Hmmm... So in other words you know these forests better than i had expected, but i doubt you know them as well as I do, even if you've lived here longer. Zerren worked hard to suppress the grin that threatened to spread across his face and ruin this new game he was playing.
"Well Marin, whatever you may think you know of forests won't do you a large amount of good if you can't shoot a tree in the middle of one. Why don't you just go back to the city and make yourself comfortable so the rest of us can have some chance of catching something?" Zerren smirked condescendingly at the man and folded his arms across his chest. He might know the basic layout of the forest, but i bet he hasn't been keeping track of the recent locations of almost every prey animal in these trees...
