Season of Spring, Day 6, 510 AV Aela woke that morning, tangled among the mass of sheets toppling her bed. She laid still, her limbs starting to awake, nestled in the bed's warm embrace. The sun's rays were especially giving and comforting, shining brightly through the small windows in the room forcing the night's shadows to retreat to the confines under the bed. Laying beneath the clumps of fabric that enveloped the bed, she stared blankly through strains of matted hair wildly displayed on her head, as the light engulfed them into a brilliant, blissful serenity. Her eyes, though barely opened, seemed to glow as the light poured into them turning the almond brownness color into a mesh of green. She parted her lips, an invisible mist silently escaped as she turn onto her side looking about the room. "Is it morning already?" Aela sighed and buried herself further into the massive covers that enveloped her tiny frame. The soft, plush fabric rolled over her and tickled her legs and feet. The bed was warm and cozy, and the mattress swayed and formed with her movements making her feel as if she were swimming at sea. She listened while drifting off into the comfort that the bed was providing her as she heard footsteps in the hall ways. "It must be....But it's just too soon." She pouted and turned over again, as if she were determined to ignore the day and go on sleeping. The day before, like every other day she had spent in the Glass Reverie continuing her apprenticeship with Perith. The days were long and the nights seemed even longer, but she felt pride in her work and had learned to respect Perith a bit more. Still working so late didn't make the mornings come any easier and she always found herself a bit sluggish when getting up. "Oh..the market..ugh." Aela sighed again and forced her body to move, throwing back the covers and pushing herself out of the bed. It would be a slow moving process but she would eventually comb her hair and dress herself before heading out. Leaving her room to go outside, she made her way through the hall ways and down the steps. She stepped out onto the ground, the sun shined brightly in the sky, much brighter than it did through the square windows in her room. She squinted as her eyes adjusted to the brightness and felt the warmth of the sun upon her cheeks. Slowly walking and still tired, Aela made her way into the courtyard. It was less busier than the main market area and provided a place for her to set up her booth to sell items that she had crafted. Perith was very strict with her but he did encourage her to test her own skill at making items and then selling them to the people. It was his idea to come to the market place, but left her to handle the set up on the night before to do alone. Standing beside her booth, she looked around at the other venders who were already set up and to the people slowly appearing to browse their wares. "Well....here I go." She smiled as she stepped behind her booth and began to arrange the display to better catch the customers eye. She laid out simple toys, vases, bowls, and beads of all sorts. She would have the day to make the most of this and planned to show Perith that she could do it just as he had. Now the waiting began and Aela hoped that the wait would be short. As the wind picked up the river blue colored canvas fluttered in the breeze, Aela moved her hand through her hair and moved it away from her face as she watched more people enter the market. Soon the place would be over crowded with customers and she hoped that by the end of the day she would have something to show for her hard work. |
