[The Enclave] Sad songs (Vaas)

Postby Juni on June 1st, 2012, 2:56 am

Juni listened to Vaas’ suggestion, and though he hadn’t completely mulled it over, it struck him as a good one. At least, with some sort of little service, he might find some closure. Poppy had been saying good bye to him for so many weeks now, in his terrible dreams. Perhaps it was time for him to say good bye too. Perhaps that would make the dreams stop.

He rose when Vaas did, and as the other boy spoke softly, Juni reached for Vaas’ hand, taking it with his fingers, gripping it lightly.

“That’s really kind of you to offer Vaas. I like your idea. I think it would please Poppy to know where she can always find her little glass animals. Perhaps your bird can find her spirit somewhere hovering above the mountain, and he can tell her where they are buried.”

He dropped Vaas’ hand. “If you come with me, we could go to the room where I am staying – that’s where the box is. And then we could go on to . . . wherever it is you have in mind. Or – if you prefer, I can run and fetch it and we could meet back up somewhere. I can bring my flute too.”

[The Enclave] Sad songs (Vaas)

Postby Vaas on June 2nd, 2012, 3:07 am

Vaas picks up his staff from the table, and he smirks at Juni and suggests, “Juni, you definitely have a way with words. You should start writing them down. Very poetic my friend.” He continues with a smile, “Sure I'll come with you too your apartment, Juni. I'll meet you outside while you gather your things. I have to check on Wind Dancer.”

Vaas stands up and starts walking to the door. He uses his staff to guide his way to the door. The rings of his staff echo through the quiet library. He needs to get to Wind Dancer before he starts going after his arch nemesis, ravens. All he needs now is a angry Endal getting mad at him for his hawk harassing the other birds, so he quickens his pace to the door. Graven says Wind Dancer is the most stubborn and troublesome bird in Kalea. He may be right, but Vaas still thinks Wind Dancer just misunderstood. Vaas walks out of the Enclave, and he hears a commotion of squawking ravens and a occasional screams from his lovable feathered friend. A feather lands on his head, Vaas makes a look of annoyance as he takes the feather from the top of his head. He puts the feather behind his ear, feels around for his flute, and he realizes he forgot to get it back from Juni. He sets the back pack by his feet and starts waving over Juni. All this time the squawks of ravens get loader and more intense as waits for Juni.

[The Enclave] Sad songs (Vaas)

Postby Juni on June 3rd, 2012, 2:16 am

Juni watched as Vaas negotiated his way out of the library. He was impressed with how well the other boy was able to find a secure path, though he realized that here in the city things were fairly orderly. He guessed Vaas must have memorized much of the place. Then again, any stray debris, a forgotten box or a moved bit of furniture, could cause quite a danger to the blind youth. Still, as he followed Vaas to the exit and the corridor beyond, his new friend came to no mishap.

Once again outside, Juni saw a beautiful hawk circling high above, encircled, it seemed, by a ring of black ravens. He could almost hear their thoughts in his head, their irritation with the raptor, which they regarded as a threat. He hurried over to Vaas, still with the other boy’s flute in his hand.

“Were you wanting this?” he asked, holding the flute out so it would touch Vaas’ hand, as he had noted Vaas had fished about for something at his belt.

[The Enclave] Sad songs (Vaas)

When Juni gets closer he asks nicely and kind of embarrassed at the same time, “Wind Dancer war with the raven is intensifying... and well I need to stop it before it gets out of hand.”

Swearing to himself as he hears a loud commotion from his hawk and the ravens. He hears a loud squawk from a raven as it falls from the air. He hears Juni's familiar voice say, “Were you wanting this?” Vaas feels his flute touch his hand and says dryly to Juni, “Thank you Juni. My bird as declared war on the local raven population of Wind Reach a couple weeks ago.... He really needs a hobby.” He shakes his head than brings his flute to his lips and does a few warm up notes. He listens than turns in the direction of the sounds of battle. He plays a series of notes loudly to get the hawk attention. He listens for a moment and hears the battle still commencing. He frowns and plays in a different set of tones. These set of notes the bird learned that he was in trouble, and soon after those notes are plays, he plays the notes Wind Dancer learned for attention again. Vaas puts the wooden flute in his belt and takes his used leather gauntlet from his belt. He puts it on with a annoyed look on his face. He raises his arm for his feather companion to land
.
This time the Wind Dancer decides to retreat for now from his battle with the ravens. He flies down to Vaas' extended gloved arm and lands with a loud scream. He starts to sulks since he is not getting food right at the moment. Vaas puts on the Jesse on the legs of the bird, and he turns to Juni and says, “Sorry about the delay. My feathered friend is a spirited fellow, and he loves to entertain himself at the expense of all the other birds around him. I am really surprised an Endal hasn't yelled at me yet for his behavior. Shall we head to your apartment? Oh Juni by the way this is Wind Dancer.” The bird still sulking says tilts his head at Juni and looks at Vaas not sure what to think. Vaas looks at Juni and says softly, “Juni, could you go into my back pack and find the leather bag with the dried meat. Right now, he is in trouble with me, so I won't give a treat, but he will love you if you give something to eat.”
