An unlikely encounter[ThreadComplete]

Spring 505AV

Desmus had only been in the city for a day which consisted with him walkingthe streets trying to find to rest and winding up sleeping on the side if the road. Now he was awake and semi rested with the sun shining down on the massive fortress that made up the city.

This was his firsttime in this city, and he hoped it would be his last. It differed greatly from the plains of his home where you go days without seeing a soul where as to here you see more and more every minute. He had come here seeking answers as he had been to every other place he had traveled. He hoped that in a place this large he would indeed find what he was looking for, but it seemed that the locals turned a very cold shoulder hi way a he walked past.

He came to a fork on on the pathway he was traveling. One led towards the inardsof the city and the other led the the gates. He stopped and waited. Thinking of giving up and leaving this place and returning home. He clutched his sword at the hilt. The pain illuminatedfrom his eyes and once again he slipped into the daze. He saw the flames and the bodies. His friend impaired on stakes. It was happening more frequently now, and he thought that it had to end. Whether it be those that did it or him.

An unlikely encounter

Postby Don on June 16th, 2012, 8:28 am

Don walked briskly through the city streets, trying hard to avoid any and all who came within distance of him. He did not enjoy bumping into people, as it usually sparked unnecessary arguments, or occasional fights. As such, he tended to move like a snake throughout the crowds of people, manoeuvring so that he did not come in contact with anyone around him. It was an annoying way to travel, especially in a city he deemed home, yet it was the only way. You could not travel by horse on such busy days, without running the risk of knocking someone flat on the ground, or trampling them to death.

Donathon had been travelling throughout the city proper to find a blacksmith, one that operated off the corner of the street. It was a small shop, yet big enough for him to work in. The man had promised Don that he would sharpen his sword, as it had begun to dull and become blunt from recent sparring sessions with other aspiring knights. So far he had defeated many of them in training, and only been defeated by few. Sharpening his blade was worth the mizas he paid, as it would allow Don to continue his training without running the risk of snapping the sword clean in half, or turning it into a thin piece of useless metal.

As Donathon’s walk soon led him out of the crowds and into the less populated area of the city, he came across a man, who had been standing still in the middle of the road. Not paying any attention, as the blacksmith had been so close, Donathon accidentally bumped into the man’s shoulder, causing Don to stumble forward and nearly fall over. Clumsy.

Before he continued his walk, he turned to the man and gave him an apologetic look.

“Sorry, I wasn’t paying any attention to what was ahead of me. My apologies.”

An unlikely encounter

Postby Desmus Marrudius on June 16th, 2012, 8:42 am

Desmus suddenly snapped of his semi trance like state with a foreful shock the sent him stumbling. He looked around quickly to see a knight.

“Sorry, I wasn’t paying any attention to what was ahead of me. My apologies.”

The man was clearly a man of the knights that inhabited this city. If his clothes did not.give thus was the was he presented himself surely would. Desmus regained his footing and looked.at the man that apparently with all the commotion fell to the ground. He could tell the man really was sorry by his expression. Desmus began speaking in pavi his native tounge"Da ne ha-" but caught himself and began to speak the common tounge of the outlanders.

" It is fine knight. Are you injured from your fall"

Desmus reached down to give the knight a hand.

An unlikely encounter

Postby Don on June 16th, 2012, 8:51 am

Secret :
This is before he became a Knight, so yeah.. Might have to change your last post.

Don shook his head. “I’m fine.” He took the man’s hand and allowed himself to be pulled to his feet, before dusting himself off. Don did not know much of their language, but the words he had begun to speak faintly reminded him of the Drykas people, natives to the Sea of Grass. He had never been there himself, nor did he ever want to go. It seemed like a dangerous place, with all the beasts and whatnot about. While they were not the most exciting of things, Donathon did particularly enjoy the safety of the city walls.

The man was Drykas then. A fair way away from home, that was certain. It was not often that Don heard of his people roaming Syliras, and it was even less often that he actually saw one. The presence of this man was an odd one indeed, and Donathon couldn’t help but wonder if he had been here for a reason. He did not see why such people would roam so far from home without one. From what Don had learnt, Drykas tended to stay within their clans, each clan based within Cyphrus. For a lone Drykas to be so far from home, there had to be some justification and purpose behind it. They did not simply roam for the fun of it, or that is at least what he believed.

Not trying to sound rude or intruding, Don let his overly curious mind get the best of him.

“You are a Drykas, yes? What brings you so far from your home? Syliras is a big place, and an overcrowded one at that. Not too often do I see your kind wandering within the city walls.” Don asked, patiently standing about the city streets talking to a man he did not know, nor overly trust. An unlikely encounter with a foreign man, it seemed.

An unlikely encounter

Postby Desmus Marrudius on June 16th, 2012, 9:01 am

Desmus looked at the young man and took in his words. He was right this city was sickening to him as well as all other Drykas as well but he did indeed have a reason for being here.

Desmus words rang out in a harsh but subtle tone" I am looking for someone. A person that belongs to the order of knights." any small hint of.kindness then left the words that dollars as he let his hand fall down to the butt of his sword then grip it tightly " He owes me something, and im here for it."

An unlikely encounter

Postby Don on June 16th, 2012, 9:07 am

A knight? What could a Drykas possibly want with a knight? Don knew the question was stupid and time-wasting, what else would the man be here for but a knight. But what Knight? Don’s aspiration to become one had allowed him to meet several knights, yet he highly doubted that any of them were the one this man was looking for. From the way he grasped his sword as he spoke, Don assumed that the man had ill-intentions with the knight he was pursuing. To come such a long way for one man, Don knew he was not here to share a pitcher of mead and a song with the man.

Running a hand through his long hair, Don looked up at the sky. It was sunny and blue, and sometimes he wondered if the sky reflected the peace in Syliras. It was always blue, the sun was always shining. Just as the city was always peaceful, without violence, without treachery, without thieves or bandits. It was a great place to live, and Donathon would have had it no other way. This was his home, and he would die serving it, he would die protecting it. And if this man’s intentions were to indeed kill the knight, then he would not allow it. But then again, he could not jump to foolish conclusions either.

He had to know what the man wanted the knight for, why exactly he had came here. Pretending to ignore the man’s hand on his hilt, Don spoke. “What do you need of this knight you seek? What exactly does he owe you?”

An unlikely encounter

Postby Don on June 16th, 2012, 12:23 pm

Don was young, but he was not stupid. He could tell this man was trying to cover the truth from him, he could tell that he had underlying intentions that he was blatantly avoiding. Don had learned to see through people, and he knew when a man had ill-intent. It was obvious that this man was one of those people, and had come to the city to spill blood. Little did he know that if he did, he would not leave with his head. Even if he did do so, there would be a dozen or more knights pursuing him until proper justice was dealt. Donathon just hoped he could have prevented the bloodshed before it even began.

He was not the best with words, yet nor was he the worst. He had talked his way out of a few sticky situations before, yet none like this. This man was intent on killing someone, and had come a long way to do it. He would not falter on his quest so easily, Don knew it. He just had to find a way to prevent the man from letting anger overcome him; as anger was brother to destruction, and destruction the son of death. It was anger that often drove men to lay in their death beds, and it was anger that fuelled fires that should have never been lit in the first place. Don had always been taught to keep a calm and collected mind, no matter what the situation was.
Don would have to get as much information from the man as he could, even if his questions were not directly to the point of what he was here for.

“What is the Knight’s name? If you told me, I perhaps could help you find him.” Don asked, trying to squeeze the information from the man. He did not act as such, and spoke as if he was merely curious about it all, as if he actually wanted to help find the knight.

An unlikely encounter

Postby Desmus Marrudius on June 16th, 2012, 4:44 pm

The mans name. It was of the many things about the knight he didnt know. The only thing he did intact know was that he was a knight of Syrillis. Desmus had already killed two that were not the correct man, and as he may have felt sorrow for wrongly placing their heads on the cupping block it was quickly replaced with drive to once again find who.he was looking for.

"I do not know. I have come here seeking to learn just that." Desmus turned to face the man again "Tell me where do the knights reside."

An unlikely encounter

Postby Don on June 16th, 2012, 10:10 pm

The man’s question had been one that Don could have easily answered, yet he was hesitant too. If he gave away the location of the Knights, this man would storm in, trying to find the one he was after, and most likely kill a man or two before being killed himself. It would have all been pointless bloodshed, bloodshed that could have easily been avoided. This man had come to Syliras with ill-intent, and if it got out of hand, he would most likely leave without his head.

Don placed a hand on the hilt of his own sword. It was a casual gesture, not one suggesting anything, but merely a place to rest his hand. Generally people took that in the wrong context, believing it was some sort of threat. Donathon assured them it was not, and he was merely finding a suitable place to keep his hand. Yet if this man was going to draw his sword upon him, Don would be ready to do the same. He just hoped it wouldn’t end up in that situation.

”There’s many places the Knights reside. All around the city, infact.” He explained, speaking nothing but truth. The Knights ruled the city, they were everywhere and anywhere. Sure, they were in some places more than others. But they were always there, always around. Adorned in their heavy ornate plate armour, it was hard to miss a Knight if you passed one.
