Stretching northward along the coastline of the Suvan Sea, the Cobalt Mountains are the home of the Bronze Wood, numerous ruins, and creatures both strange and fantastical.

The 17th day of summer 412AV

Underground, conditions that could easily drive a man insane. However it was different for Carney, he had been in or around mines and mine shafts for as long as he could remember. The low light, the long hours, and that feeling that most get nagging in the back of their mind saying that they should be above ground, these are all things that did not bother him.

He was still somewhat new to this mine though and this was brought to thought as he counted off his turns. After what was quit a bit of walking down mine shafts and tunnels he had made it to the spot where he had left off the prior day of work. Carney took a second and looked at what he had gotten done in pride then got to work. He took his trusty pickaxe into his muscular hands, took a stance and started swinging his axe. This is where as an Akalak his superior strength and infravision were a great advantage. With each swing of his axe chunks of ore and earth were broke away from the wall of the mine. As the chunks of various mineral compounds fell to the ground Carney kept an eye out for any special minerals, such as shiny rocks and or gems, anything that he could use to further his knowledge about his work.

Sometime later Carney noticed that it must be a nice day topside, the temperature was getting warm in the mine. After taking a swig of water he noticed that he had enough broken up ore to fill his mine cart. This was the part of the job he did not care for as much but he did not complain, he was a diligent worker. Soon he had filled the cart and began his journey topside to the designated unloading area. Any rocks or gems found that he deemed special he would pile on top of the ore in hopes that he would get recognition from the foreman for his knowledge of geology.
