Ojji may have been a priest of her lady Priskil, but he had two major flaws about him. He was mortal, and he was old. The combination of both, perhaps exacerbated by his post glyph scramble, was too much for his aged heart. It came sudden, fast, too fast for the Healer to react to, a hand clutched to his heart, eyes rolled back in pain, when the man thudded to the unforgiving earth. Ojji was dead, and it seemed his Goddess' mission was over before it ever really started. All the hope in the world couldn't keep you from Dira's grasp it seemed.
The disheartened group ended up leading the man's horses and carts in an impromptu funeral procession back to the Sanctuary. They women had just inherited the four Nightwalkers, for they could not be turned away. They belonged to the Sanctuary family now. Ojji's cart was hauled to the beach, his body resting inside. It was filled with tinder and logs, then lit, and pushed out into the surf. It was certainly no proper floating pyre, but it felt right, and the women could've sworn that there was a bright glow, brighter than the flames could flicker, emanating from the cart.
Kavala had decided to keep An Old Man’s Journey in the World of Glyphing. The man had seemed determined to pass on his teachings somehow, someway, and to dishonor that goal would weigh on anyone's heart. The book seemed to have been written by Ojji himself, and was quite enlightening to anyone who wished to further their learning of the old man's choice of magic.
~~~Nearly Two Years Later~~~
The Djed Storm had come and gone, and the Sanctuary had seen many trials come and go. Stashed away somewhere, the back cover of An Old Man’s Journey in the World of Glyphing began to glow, much like the orb from Ojji's hand those years ago. Opening the back cover of the tome would reveal a message, glowing in a seemingly divine ink.
One of my lights may be gone, but do not lose hope, it still shines, within each of you. My love's tower still needs repaired, to bring the light to everyone in the land. One day, another of my lights will call to you, and I hope you will answer. May your lights shine true.
For the Sanctuary, four adult Nightwalkers have joined the owned animals.
Also for the Sanctuary, An Old Man’s Journey in the World of Glyphing has been added to the inventory. This book can be used to teach Glyphing to anyone with less than Competent level of Glyphing, including people with no knowledge at all.
The Message revealed itself at a time of your choosing after the Djed Storm of Spring 512 AV. You may use this to attempt to repair the tower once more, if a Storyteller, and yourself(ves), are willing, at a time convenient for you. I would also like to offer my own services as DS to provide this, if you'd like. Drop me a PM anytime.
I was a little disheartened to see the quest come to such an abrupt ending, but I enjoyed seeing Kavala stand by her convictions. Gotta love strong women.
What a lovely breath of fresh air. Every group of women needs the quirky, if somewhat offkilter, friend along for the ride. Maybe one day you will find that adventure you so desire!
Your frightening of Ojji in the beginning is likely what led to his demise. Just kidding. Not really. Would've liked to have seen more of you in this quest though.
I was a bit concerned at your use of Reimancy without having the skill in your CS, but a little digging and I found your Initiation thread. I really liked your use of your Res, particularly the syrup like texture due to your Novice skill level, as well as the replenishment through drinking. Very ingenious. Well done! |
