Mira

Winter 43, 509AV (Aged 3)
Kelvic, Black Jaguar

Appearance

At a first glance, Mira would past as a human. She has striking green eyes, a smooth olive skin tone and deep black hair a little past her shoulders. She stands 5"9 and is 145lbs. Physically Mira has a lean, athletic body type, gentle curves merging with a toned muscle structure. Upon closer inspection, vertically slitted pupils can be observed, expanding and dilating as the light hits her eyes. Her incisors are longer than the average human's, and her features are definitely feline in appearance.

Mira's jaguar form is black, though the normal spotting shared among the species can be seen fainting in the sunlight running along her body. She has bright, green eyes and weights roughly 185lbs. Like many other jaguars, she has a stockier built that allows her to stalk and ambush prey more easily. She is compact power, with a wide, powerful jaw, neck and shoulders, and a long tail in relation to her body.

Personality

Understanding from a young age what she was born into, Mira differed from her Kelvic kin in the fact that she railed against the inevitable. She did not picture herself in a role of servitude, an unprecedented streak of pride refusing the deeply-routed need for leadership and bonding. Before she reached full maturity she left the confines of her mother's care, intent on dispensing with humanity fully and embracing the beast within. The simplistic demands of that life were alluring, promising to thrust Mira into her natural habitat.

Mira is driven by simple needs: hunger, sleep and security. Human concepts and pursuits do not interest her, they are boring to the Kelvic, and they have never nor will ever mean anything to her. Interactions with outside species fell into the same category -meaningless, boring and a waste of time. The meaning of the hunt, the taste of blood and meat in her mouth - these were indisputable truths for Mira.

Biology and generation after generation of Kelvic blood had different ideas in mind. Image

As Mira aged she found that something dwelled within. Feeling lost and completely devoid of any direction in her life, the Kelvic found herself faced with unnerving questions. Where to go from here? What else was there? Something else drew her from her wilderness, something more insistent than the fulfillment of simple needs. Never before did she have
to contend with this feeling: never before did she feel the conflict of indecision, of uncertainty in her future. And deeper still was a sense of loneliness, a need for companionship and loyalty. Knowing what the desire was, the lure to find a bond mate was too powerful to ignore, and pride or not, the need was overwhelming and drove her out of the wilderness.

Like most Kelvic, Mira is completely devoid of inhibitions, and thus her interactions with other societies tend to end on an awkward note, one way or another. As a result she is far more comfortable dispensing with the entire attempt and is more willing to let others speak for her. She doesn't understand a great deal about cultures and society, and is often confounded at what would seem like an obvious solution to a problem is usually, in fact, not the one exercise. Then again, she had noted a discerning lack of bloodshed in the civilized world.

Outwardly, Mira would come off as withdrawn and elusive, and often when drawn into conversation she would give monosyllable answers, if any at all. She is a genuine individual but has a hard time connecting with other beings, and (as is in her nature) she is more content on her own, anyways. Mira is very expressive with her emotions: most of the populace does not entice enough of a reaction from her to see it, though. She does not hate other species, quite the contrary, she sees herself as an outsider who will never fit into their world. This makes the Kelvic introspective at times, wondering how fundamentally different she is that she should always stand out, though she cannot begin to comprehend how.

History

Mira was born to a Kelvic slave woman bound to one of the members to the Houses of the Four Winds. Understanding the basic dynamics of the House and politics were beyond the little Kelvic , but she understood that her mother’s loyalty to the man was something out of her control. And Mira was witnessed to the countless nights of abuse her mother was subjected to, but never once thought about running from the house. Mira held no such reservations and when she became capable enough to survive on her own she left. She didn’t fully understand the mechanics of it, but she was made aware at an early age what she was and what would be expected of her, and she ran as quickly from that as she had from the home.

Exhausting men to find one small Kelvic child was a price not worth the gain, and the men they did send were easily eluded by a creature who was more accustomed to stalking and ambushing than they. Of course, she would be found once in a while, but she made a habit of letting none survive such encounters. For about a month they looked for her before calling off the search, and Mira enjoyed her new found freedom in the guise of her bestial self. That was until the metaphoric floor was pulled out from under her feet, the Kelvic found herself lost and alone.

So she forgone caution and slipped back into Ahnatep, intending on only staying long enough to lounge in the civilized world before retreating back outside, but the longer she stayed the stronger the feeling was. Eventually the thought of leaving became unbearable, until she was caught by a slaver, her description and the telltale pupils and elongated incisors naming her the missing slave child from her Master’s House, which she was returned to. Shortly after that (and properly extracted punishment, resulting in fine, silvery scars running the length of her back) she was sold into the slave market, and had been sold numerous times in different cities and regions. She would start to establish a bond with the intended person, but even as she did she would viciously rebel against it, usually meaning she was returned promptly back to the slaver.

That is, until she eventually came full circle to Ahantep…
