Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

Liandra handed the pretty human twenty-five golden Mizas, payment for a sunset tour and meal, before she stepped onto the ship. The ship was totally full of patrons, a fairly even split between visitors and citizens. She moved through the crowds, until she found a single table, and sat down, her stomach rumbling. She looked around at all the people, seeing many couples, holding hands, stealing kisses, and smiles, all smiles. And here she was, sitting alone at one of the most beautiful and unique restaurants in the city of gemstones. She remembered Sable Baggywrinkle, and her heart panged slightly. She knew that they would never have lasted, with her living in Riverfall, and with Svefra not being able to be tied down to one location. But there was a void that no amount of work, beauty, or distraction could fill. Liandra was lonely, and alone.

After several chimes, a man brought her a plate with a steaming fish upon it, and she wrinkled her face up at it. The man looked truly concerned, "Something wrong ma'am?"

"I'm sorry, but do you have something else? I can't eat meat."

The man looked embarrassed and nervous, "Uh one moment, ma'am, I'll uh, I'll go find the chef."

The man took the plate and disappeared back to where the cooking was being done, leaving Liandra to look around, her cheeks darkening. Like she needed more reminding that she was the odd one out on this boat and in this city. A blonde woman stormed back out, looking obviously offended, and Liandra shrunk down in her seat. The woman cut through the crowd, making her way for Liandra's table, looking like she was about to go into a tirade until her eyes fell on Liandra. "Oh by the gods, that idiot didn't tell me you were a Charoda! And here I was about to give you a tongue lashing about not eating my special of the day." The woman sat down across from Liandra, and summoned a server with the wave of a hand. "Bring us some steamed vegetables, rice, and a bottle of that new Steele wine. And not so heavy handed on the salt this time."

Liandra smiled sheepishly at the woman, "Thank you, I'm sorry for the inconvenience."

"Oh not at all, you're Nessela's apprentice right? The ghost woman? What an interesting occupation, though I suppose it is more necessary than a ship that lets you look at the falls. So tell me more about yourself, I don't often get a chance to talk to my patrons."

A Rude Interruption (Seven, Open)

25 gold Mizas seemed a bit steep in Gianne's opinion, but she had paid the fee nevertheless. After being on the ship close to 30 chimes, she was starting to see that the price had been worth it. It was close to sunset now and the view of Riverfall was becoming more immaculate by the tick. She was standing by the buffet, piling meats and vegetables onto her plate. Her appetite had always been cavernous. A musician was playing by the railing of the ship, and he was adequate. His lute sounded a little out of tune.

Gianne hummed tunelessly under her breath as she weaved her way back to her seat, sat down, and dug in. After growing up in Zeltiva she was a good critic on seafood, and she thought Laviku's Secret had decent fish but the scallops' texture was off. She left only a few bites left on her plate before she leaned back and laid an appreciative hand on her full stomach. She'd told herself that if she was going to pay 25 golds to get in here, she was going to eat and drink as much as she could hold. Now it's time to drink, Gianne thought to herself with a smile.

As she was about to wave over a waiter, a formidable looking blonde woman burst from the kitchen, looking livid. Dinner and a show, she thought. Her eyes followed the woman, who must have been the head cook, as she worked her way to a lone Charoda. She'd never seen a Charoda before so the scene became even more interesting. Her hopes for a show died though when the cook stopped at the Charoda woman's table and all her anger seemed to deflate. She sat down and ordered something of one of the waiters. An employee came around and got her plate but she was too distracted and forgot to order a drink.

Gianne was riveted on the cook's new companion. The Charoda's skin was blue, and she was tall, even sitting down. She had a side view of her and the way she was facing showed off a mark on her arm in the shape of a seahorse. Tattoo? Her fingers looked webbed but she couldn't tell, and instead of hair it seemed like fins or tentacles were sticking out of her head. The musician with the lute started another song and Gianne's fingers tapped quietly to the slow beat.
