The Pavilion in Ahnatep
Kressha made her way through the busy streets of Ahnatep, stopping occasionally to smile and chat with a familiar face or to trick a merchant into thinking she was interested in a product of his goods only to decide not to buy anything. She'd been living in Ahnatep for a few years now and she knew most of the merchants here, having bought food off many of them once or twice. She wasn't here for food this time. She had a few specific things she wanted to get and she was hoping she'd get a good deals.
She loved it here in Ahnatep, but in her time here, she'd gotten to know the layout of the city, made several friends and overall just felt like there wasn't much more to explore at the time. She wanted something new. Something exciting. Her walk from her home nest to the city had taken her awhile years and years ago, and she figured the distance between Ahnatep and any other cities would be just as far. She didn't want to do that on foot and had decided she needed to get a horse. Of course she hadn't had the money at first to even think about it, but she'd managed to find a buyer for her little house she'd been living in on the outskirts of the city and with that money now, she could afford a mount.
It took her awhile until she found a open stall where a small corral had been built in its space. There were three mounts currently housed inside and the merchant was standing by the front gate, looking from face to face, searching for someone interested. As Kressha moved closer, his gaze landed on her and he realized his stall was her target.
"Ah, lovely day miss, interested in purchasing yourself a mount, are you?" He asked, a small smile on his painted lips. He, like most Eypharians was all fancied up, gold dust on his face, hair painted a different color while jewelry decorated both wrists and his neck. He only had four arms, and at the moment, the top pair were pressed together infront of him while the others were reaching out toward Kressha, beckoning her closer.
Kressha returned his smile as she came closer. "Ssat wasss sse idea, if sse price isss not too high." She said, her brow raising a little as she looked at him, waiting for his reaction to her words.
"Oh, my pretty little lady, my mounts are fit for any budget. Here, come take a look. All are of strong breeding, best mounts you can ask for. Here, come come." He said, placing one of his four hands on her back and pushing her closer. Kressha didn't mind, she found it a little amusing. She was sure that the man got a lot of people that wanted to just pet the horses and wasn't actually interested in purchasing anything.
Lifting her hands to rest on the edge of the corral, she looked in at the three mounts that stood there. They all appeared to be of the same breed, Eyktolian Desertbred, but the sizes and colors weren't the same. One was black as night with three white socks and a white stripe down its head. He was a large stallion, a bit big for her little size. The next was a reddish brown mare with four black socks and nothing on her forehead that Kressha could see. She didn't seem all that mellow though, and as she caught Kressha's scent her ears were back and she was fidgeting in her space between the other two mounts. The merchant make some shhhing sounds to calm the beast before reaching in to slide his hand down the mare's head. Kressha didn't need a mount that would freak out just by her scent. The last was a beautiful cream colored mare with four high white socks that went all the way to her knees and a small white star in the middle of her forehead that stretched downward toward her snout. Her mane and tail were a clean bright white color that shone beautifully against her cream colored coat. To top it all off, she even moved closer to the edge of the corral and lowered her head to sniff at Kressha's hair.
"Ah, this lovely lady is my pride and joy. She is three years of age but has the wisdom of a horse much older. She's an easy ride, doesn't put up much fuss and it seems she already likes you." The man said as the mare lowered her head more and sniffed at Kressha's hand until she lifted it to press her fingers against the star on her head. The horse was sweet, and so beautiful and just happened to be on the smaller side of the other two.
"How much for her?" Kressha asked, turning her head to look up at the man, hoping he was true to his word about the price not being too high. She had sold her house specifically for this, but she needed that money to buy other supplies as well and she prayed that the mare wouldn't take all of her coins.
"50 gold miza for this sweet beast. Not too bad a price, is it?" He asked, a smile on his lips. The breed he was selling with was a common horse in the area, so the price was lower than say if they got a horse that was native to the north. "50 gold huh..." Kressha said, turning her head to look at the mare again. She had already decided she wanted her, and she knew she had enough, she had managed to sell her little dwelling for close to 500 gold, though to think that she would find a horse worth that much money... Well, it would have to be one damn good horse.
Pulling her hand away, she smiled and nodded her head. "I'll take her, doesss ssshe have a name yet?" The merchant's face lit up as he heard the words leave her mouth. A sale! Oh, what merchant wasn't happy when they were able to sell their products. "No, my sweet little lady, she is your's to name. Come, over here, lets us fill out some bill of sale documents and deal with the payment and she is all yours."
Giving him a small nod, she looked back at the mount one more time and reached out and trailed her fingers down her forehead again before turning and following the man toward his little makeshift desk where he kept all his paper work. |
