RECORDS
APPEARANCE
Orion is slender and muscular, a stark contrast to his days prior to joining the knighthood. Piercing blue eyes dominate his features, accented by his light skin and usual scruffy beard. A set of twin scars run over his left eye, a reminder of a narrow victory over a Zith attack. Various other scars are hidden across his body, lost to time and memory.
Ennervism, Level 1
Orion was forcibly marked by Yahal on the 51st of Spring, 514 AV. The mark of Ennervism manifested in the form of an elaborate, stylized tattoo of a pair of wings which are located on Orion's back.

PERSONALITY
Stubborn, passionate, friendly, cruel, selfish, self conscious, dependably undependable, Orion is many different things to different people. Truth be told, he doesn't know what to call himself. His personality is constantly shifting as he once again learns how to be open with friends and strangers alike. Trust is slow to come, but not impossible to discover.
Ever since he lost Lyla, Orion had a wild side emerge. Booze, women, the occasional fight. His medical skills have come in use on himself more times than he would admit. Orion has had his share of success 'between the sheets', and his any previous reservations of kindness go out the window in such a case. While not willing to anything for a good romp, he's willing to almost anything if the woman is attractive and intriguing enough. Unwilling to commit, these adventures tend to be of the one night variety, with the exception of the find who accepts a relationship without emotional attachment. Talk of love or future causes Orion to close up and freeze the offender out.
All that said, Orion generally cares for people. The careers he has chosen to deal with have people placing a trust him he tries not to betray. Whether he is setting a broken bone, treating an infection, cooking a stew, or mixing a drink, Orion does his best to give more than is expected of him.

HISTORY
As the son of a mildly successful doctor and educator in Syliras, Orion's life was fairly easy growing up. His father had every intention Orion becoming a doctor, and from a very young age he worked on Orion constantly trying to teach him anything and everything he could. He wished the success of his linage to continue. Orion, however, viewed his father's teachings with resentment, never feeling as a son, only a pupil. He studied as his father would have him do, and found he enjoyed the study of medicine, yet he held a bitterness. It wasn't his choice to be a doctor; as much as he loved it, his life never felt like his own. After his mother died prematurely, the pressure from his father only grew greater. After deeming him ready, he got Orion a job, ensuring he knew the immense scrutiny he would be under as his son.
Everything would change the summer after he turned 20. Everything would change when he met Lyla. A beautiful young woman of 18, Lyla was everything Orion had ever wanted. Intelligent, gorgeous, passionate, free spirited. She wasn't tied down by anything. The two quickly fell in love and when Orion wasn't working, they spent every moment they could together. Orion's father strongly disapproved of their pairing. Lyla worked as a barmaid and occasional bartender. She enjoyed interacting with people, hearing their stories, flirting, drinking, and having a good time. She was unacceptable for one with Orion's ceiling.
If that was the case, then Orion would tear that ceiling down. He quit his job in the medical field, moved to the Traveler's Row, and joined as an assistant cook at the tavern where Lyla worked. The money wasn't as good, but they were happy. It was catastrophic for his father, however, who's health took a turn for the worse. He would pass away alone, angry, bitter. Their estate was sold and the money donated for continuing education for those who loved medicine, ensuring not a copper was left for Orion. Orion didn't care, however, his relationship with his father having died long ago. Lyla was all that mattered.
After a year of being together, Orion had planned to ask her to marry him. He had planned to spend forever together. He bought her a ring. It wasn't much, but she would be happy. They would have children, maybe run their own tavern, but he learned that the universe has a funny way of not carry about a person's plans. A patron at the tavern got out of hand. Too much to drink, enchanted by Lyla's charm and beauty. Before anyone knew what had happened, the man grabbed her and they were gone. When her body was found in an alley the next day, Orion's world came crashing down.
He quit his job and disappeared into his apartment for months. People at the tavern would ask about him occasionally, but no one really knew what happened to him until he showed up unexpectedly back at the tavern, as though nothing had happened. He began working again, never hinting of the pain he buried. He'd flirt with women patrons, occasionally have a romp with them, and when he had angered a few too many, he'd hitch a ride with traders to a nearby city and do the same sort of thing. To the observer he had moved on.
That's how his life went until the djed storms hit. The chaos that ensued changed everything for him again. They were forced into the caverns. Yet while he was down there, he regained his purpose. There were sick, those injured in fighting. He found himself a caregiver again. He had far from forgot his training as a doctor. He realized that no matter what his father had done, he had a gift to help people. No one needed to lose someone if he could do anything about it.
