About that drink (Gaius)

Postby Evora on August 5th, 2012, 5:09 pm

Evora looked on in awe as Gaius formed some magic, turning it into a weapon. Though the action confused her, Evora couldn't help feeling comfort watching the power Gaius held. Magic was powerfully after all.

But like a child discovering the secret behind a party trick, Evora was disapointed by Gaius' magical weapon. It hurtled towards the bear and struck it, seemingly causing no damage but only drawing from it an angry growl. Evora felt her heart drop as the bear rounded on Gaius, who stood before her and she was ever aware of her excuse of a weapon.

Evora's mind went to Mordechai. Where was he? 'He's run away,' she thought sullenly. It didn't matter however, she had never needed to depend on anyone for their protection. She didn't expect it now from a stranger.

About that drink (Gaius)

Postby Gaius Sivet on August 5th, 2012, 5:38 pm

Gaius glanced between Evora and the now enraged bear for several seconds his mind reeling from everything that was happening. It took a bare few seconds for him to realize that Mordechai had fled and that Gaius was now faced with a massive bear that had every reason to tear him apart. And all he had between himself and a several hundred pound murderous beast was his sword. A second later, he realized that he was the only thing between the bear and Evora.

"Here, take this and put your back against a tree," Giaus said, turning and shoving his sword into Evora's hands. Without waiting for a response, Gaius moved off to the side, letting more of his coal grey res form in his hands as he shouted at the bear. As quickly as he could, Gaius let he res stick to several tree branches, drawing the earth up into crude, makeshift barriers that would provide at least a modicum of protection.

"Over here you overgrown rabbit!"Gaius shouted in an attempt to draw the bear's attention. It was unnecessary though, as the bear remembered who had struck it so recently and had followed his every movement. With another roar that shook the trees, the bear began to lumber forward, picking up speed. Gaius began to form several more projectiles of earthen res and silently prayed that things would work. As he did, he felt lightheaded, and a trickle of blood wormed its way from his nose, down his face.

About that drink (Gaius)

Postby Mordechai Zoltar on August 6th, 2012, 4:36 am

The bear was in sight. Mordechai need only sneak up a little closer.

"Over here you overgrown rabbit!" He heard Gaius say off in the distance as walls of earth formed in front of the beast. It began to take off towards Gaius. Blast, I need it closer, Mordechai thought.

Full of haste, he stepped gracefully closer to the bear as quietly as he could. It's attention was fixed on Gaius and it's back was turned. Suddenly Gaius started hurling more earth at the bear. Some of it passing the bear and almost hitting Mordechai. It was obvious he didn't know where Mordechai was. Either that or he'd grown sloppy in the heat of battle. Still, Mordechai decided to send a small flair of res into the air and ignited it quickly to show his position quietly.

Mere feet away from the roaring behemoth, Mordechai was ready to make his move.

About that drink (Gaius)

Evora took hold of the sword that Gaius had uncerimoniously cramed into her hands. Her heart sank as the other Inartan ran off. 'Abandon,' she thought again. But the enraged bear turned towards Gaius, who now taunted it, hurling more magic balls at him. Only an Inartan man would be so foolish.

Evora took the opportunity however to get out of harms way. Picking a tree that branched out over the bear, she began to climb. Using all her strength she went as far up as she dared. She was not much of a climber and her feet were unsure and clumsy, but she was small and light.

"Catch, Gaius!" Evora called letting his sword drop to the ground. She then broke of branches of the tree and started hurling them at the bear in an attempt to distract it from Gaius. She hoped the sword would be of more use to him on the ground than to her in a tree.

About that drink (Gaius)

Postby Gaius Sivet on August 6th, 2012, 7:20 pm

As Gaius watched the great, lumbering beast of a bear as it began hurtling towards him, several things happened. Firstly, he saw a small, innocuous flash of red light that told him that Mordechai hadn't run off, but was very nearby. Second, he heard Evora's voice from almost directly above him shouting "Catch!" as his sword dropped point first into the ground uncomfortable close to him. Third and, perhaps most importantly, Gaius became acutely aware of how terribly small he was in comparison to the bear that was about to kill him.

Gaius wrenched his sword free of the earth and backed his way into the nearest tree, hoping it would help brace him. Holding the sword out in front of him like some sort of child's spear with one hand he took a deep breath and, with the other, willed res to pool approximately ten feet in front of him, making a rather small hole with rather pitiful looking spikes of earth. Then, as the world began to get very mobile in his vision, as if it were just about to start spinning but wasn't quite ready to, Gaius prayed that he wouldn't take too long to die and that it wouldn't hurt terribly much.

About that drink (Gaius)

Directly behind the bear was Mordechai, and it was time to put his brilliant plan together.

He jumped onto the bear.

Holding onto the fur with all his might Mordechai began laughing loudly, pouring res out of his mouth all the while. As the res fell past his lips it landed on the fur of the bucking, thrashing beast and coated all the individual hairs, seeming to coat them in moss.

After coating almost the entirety of the back of the bear, Mordechai lost his grip. He was thrown off and in front of the bear. Lying on his back he looked up to see the bear growl ferociously as it stood on it's hind legs.

"Boom" Mordechai said, as he ignited the bear in a glorious blast of flame. Quickly Mordechai rolled out of the way as the bear came crashing down. It was an inferno. As the beast landed it's front half back down it began to once more thrash and buck, but there was no chance of it tossing the fire like it did Mordechai.

Mordechai ran to the nearest tree and hid behind it, peeking his head out to watch the show.

About that drink (Gaius)

Evora watched the burning bear with a sense of relief and, strangely, disapointment. A part of her still wished they could have salvaged some meat to sell to the butcher.

Evora looked on at the screaming, dying bear. With pitty in her heart for the animal, she fell clumsily from her tree, walked over to Gaius who still held his sword out before him. She gently took the sword from his hands and walked to the creature that lay thrashing desperately in the grass.

The sky had grown dark above them by now and the moon provided a soft glow. 'And this all started with a drink,' Evora thought bring the sword above her head. She brought it down hard over the beasts neck, ending its pain.

"Stew?" she offered the two men.

Comments :
Nice thread everyone. Started out as a nice social thread and turned into some action in the latter half. Only criticism I have to is to make sure to proofread and spell check as there are a few typos where I had to go all Sherlock Holmes on and figure out. But besides that nice thread. Any questions or concerns PM me!
Currently working at new job so I am still trying to balance it out with Miza. I apologize for any delays.
