Considered one of the most mysterious cities in Mizahar, Alvadas is called The City of Illusions. It is the home of Ionu and the notorious Inverted. This city sits on one of the main crossroads through The Region of Kalea.

"Well, I...um...I..." Eadfrid kept hesitating in his speech, while trying to find the answer on the spot. It wasn't easy, particularly when there were two others staring him down. Well, not staring him down exactly. It wasn't even a bad stare. He felt as if he could tell the truth around these people. After all, they were also magic-users. He wouldn't be very trustworthy if he came up with some lie.

"I sought you out." he said, plainly and simply. "I was traveling to Syrilia, and I stayed over in a small inn on the way there. I heard a couple of men talking over ale of a rumour that there was a group of magic-users in Alvadas. I had to see for myself if it was true, so I set off for Alvadas the next day, and here I am now."

Three Wizards in a Room (Eadfrid, Kuvarakh)

Postby Kuvarakh on August 3rd, 2012, 3:30 am

Kuvarakh glanced quickly at Eridanus, pleased to see no indication that he questioned the truthfulness of the answer.

"Indeed? Well that is very good news. Word of our group is getting out. Then, it becomes even more important that good reputation accompanies this word. I urge you to visit the Sanity Center as soon as you can. Gainful employment goes a long way to establish the reputation of stability and dependability we need to present to the government and general population. As we said, part of our intent is to soften the stigma of danger and mistrust attached to magic users around the world."

A thought occurred to him, "Oh wait, are you still needing to travel to Sylira? If you have some mission there, we can put your application on the shelf until you return. Otherwise, unless my esteemed associate here has anything to add, I think we are finished."

Eridanus released his focus on the human, satisfied that he was telling the truth.

"That is pretty fast news travelling," He noted to Kuvarakh. "Though I suppose with the stigma of magic what other news could be so gossip-worthy as to a collection of perceived madmen?"

Gesturing to Eadfrid, he said, "No, I have nothing to add. If there is no further concern..."

Raising out his right hand so as to grasp the human's one in a firm handshake, he continued, "Welcome to the Order of Transcendence, Eadfrid. May you find your passion here, and grow together with the guild as we seek better heights."

"No. My trip to Sylira was only for sightseeing purposes. I don't need to go there." Eadfrid said. "Besides, I have more pressing matters to attend to now, like finding a job and home. And yes, I believe we are done." Noting that the other one...Eridanus, was it?...had extended his hand in what could only be a welcome, Eadfrid took his hand and shook it.

"It is an honour to join this order's ranks." he said, releasing Eridanus' hand, letting his own fall to his side. "And now, I must find some accommodation and employment opportunities. Good day to the both of you." Taking up his staff again, he turned to face the door, opened it, and left the room.

In his heart, he felt a multitude of emotions. Regret. He could have given some better answers during that interview. Irritation. He would have to settle down somewhere, if not here. It would be more helpful to be here, though. But most of all, an elevated sense of happiness. He would be able to spend more time with magic-users, and more importantly, do some good in his life.

Kuvarakh watched him leave and leaned over to Eridanus. "Well, I think that went very well. I am confident he will have no real problem developing a touch for generating lightning. And I like that he didn't hesitate to express his fatigue. So many would have been too proud, thinking it would earn a black mark or some other such foolishness. Hopefully, the Sanity Center will have something for him."

He walked over to the cabinet and pulled out a folder. "Well, I hope to maintain this level of success while you are away." He flipped through several applications, "So...let's see...who have we got up next..."

"You're fine, Kuvarakh. You're doing just fine," Eridanus murmured as he watched their newest member depart from the office. Glancing over to the paperwork that the nuit was handling, he sighed inwardly, but knew that it was a necessary evil. With an organization came the need for bureaucracy, no matter how minimal, to create order in a potentially messy and chaotic system.

"Let's see..." He repeated softly.

Fin.

The Truth Hidden by a Mirage :
Congradulations and welcome to the Order of Trancendance Eafrid! This was a great thread, and I got to see some of my favorite characters in a new light ☺. Eri is playing the roll of the leader now, which I have not been able to see until now, and it was really cool to see how he would handle the situation. I can tell he is going to blossom into a wonderful leader one of these days. Kuvarakh looks like he will do just fine running the guild while Eridanus is gone as well. I had to stop and laugh at the questions Kuvarakh was asking. Very very tricky ;)

Eafrid I can already tell that you are a great writer and that you are really connected to your character. I can see your love of this craft called reimancy, and I truly believe that one day you could master it, however a few notes have to be made.

I saw numerous times where you said that Eafrid “Controlled this or that element”. Reimancy is NOT the art of controlling the elements it is an art where one captures and controls ones own djed, releases it in the form of res and THEN controls the res which can BECOME the elements. That means that Eafrid cannot hold fire in his hands or command wind to do anything. Rather he must will his djed to move as he wishes and think command IT to become that element. If you wish to hold a fireball in your hand you must first create a ball of res, most likely in the gaseous state. Then you ignite only the outer layer of res so that the inner portion is still res that can feed the flames. This will give the caster enough control to decide where he wants the fireball to go after being released, but it will shrink over time as the res is consumed. The inner res is then transformed when the fireball is going in the direction the caster wishes.

In your posts I also notice many times where res was ‘produced’ but never did I see anything more than a word or two saying that explained from where or how. Points in reimancy are gained for the details you put into your posts. You must explain HOW your character creates his djed. Talk about what it looks like, what it feels like, what kinds of feelings does it produce in your character and what you’re your character think about when he summons it? The same goes for creating your elements and controlling the res as well. DETAILS DETAILS DETAILS! Tell us about it, explain what goes on in Eafrid’s head as he commands his res to twist and turn. How does he cause his res to change into the elements? Does he focus on a certain thought or emotion? Does he use an internal incantation? Perhaps it is a certain command or memory he stores away in his mind that does it, I don’t know because you haven’t told me yet lol.

Now finally your skill level in reimancy is competent, but that does not mean that Eafrid is competent in both of his elements. At his current level one of his elements is going to be visibly more powerful and easier to control, and in your threads you must emphasize this. Res production and control at this level are indeed more accurate and faster, but I am afraid it is nowhere near the level that you were playing it in this thread. At most Eafrid would be able to fire off 2 fire spells in a full chime. This is both because at his level the production of res is still a difficult process that requires intense concentration and focus and his control of this res is still very difficult. It is not second nature to these mages, and it wont come to that until they are experts in their respected elements. Res control is also still shaky, and so spell power and speed are reduced as a result. In order for a mage to make the res do what they wish they must clearly and distinctly focus their minds on that task, and so simultaneous control of both fire and wind would put a huge strain on a competent mage and ultimately lead them to overgiving if they are not careful. I saw that you did mention something about growing weary, but again we are looking for details on this in order to give out points. What exactly is the first thing Eafrid notices that makes him think he is over giving? Does he have a particular way of overgiving that is unique to him? Deatails are the bread and butter here. I must have more of them! Remember that incantations are a must at this level. This is because these mages are not yet at the level where they can focus their minds enough to cast an accurate spell without them. These incantations can take many forms, mumbled words, random movements of the hand or in my reimancer's case dancing lol. Be creative, and these incantations can really help define your character as a person and give them even greater depth.

As you can see you only received a single point in reimancy for this thread, but if you go back and edit your posts to add in these details I would be happy to re-grade and give you the extra points. PM me if you have any questions on reimancy in general and we can iron this out and make you into a reimancy master in no time ;). For the other two please feel free to PM me with any concerns.
