Tock seemed to be in alot of pain. But Iris didn't exactly understand how it felt to have your stomach cut open with a blade. So she raised her eyebrow wondering why Tock was in such a rush. The Konti placed her palms on Tock's right and left shoulder and tried to shake her lightly as a simple playful joke.

"Why the rush? I'm sure it doesn't hurt that bad."

The Konti who grew up in a very peaceful area. And has never suffered a life threatening cut or stab wound was being ignorant about it. Tock and Iris had very different backgrounds and experiences. Iris removed her hands from Tock's shoulders and continued to look at Tock's wound.

Iris placed her right palm on the wound. A blue burning light glowed under the palm and on Tock's skin. Hopefully, Iris had eased some of the pain that the human woman was feeling.

Iris' mind went blank, she only focused on one thing when healing someone with her divine power. Her blue eyes focused on Tock's wound. It was as if Iris turned into a statue. With the amount of noise in the Infirmary, Iris turned her head left. There was no way to keep focus.

OOCHealing Gnosis says, "Healers can close shallow wounds...heal minor bruising... purify deeper wounds with their touch, improving sanitation and eliminating the threat of dangerous wounds going septic or developing infection." So based on that, the wound should be cleaned, and the shallower parts at the edges would close, but the deep gash will remain. BUT, it's a help!

Tock cast Iris a glare, grumbling at her. "Izzat a joke, Sheila?" she snapped in annoyance. "What cause I's done been sliced open real bad, almost lost my guts all over the ground, an' she bloody 'urts like 'ell."

She was briefly tempted to find her dagger and slice Iris up, just so she could feel how much it hurt. But before she could remember whether her dagger was in her backpack, or at home, Iris had gone ahead and started the healing process. Tock closed her eyes and let the healing warmth fill her, sighing softly and relaxing back on the bed. When it was done, the pain had faded a bit, though it still ached quite badly. At least it wasn't an unbearable throb anymore... though she thought Iris needed to practice her healy magic some more, so she could get the whole job done in one go.

When it was over, she opened her eyes and gave Iris a small smile. "Thanks, Sook," she said. "Remind me fer not ta git in another fight like 'at again, aye? Though I's glad what we stopped 'em fer burnin' down the library..."

She shifted against the pillows, getting a bit more comfortable now that the pain had faded a bit. She then pulled her drawings back out again, ready to continue now that she wasn't so distracted by agony. "Owzat tea comin', Sook?" she asked. She went back to drawing waves, thinking about how the chariot should emerge from them. She was undecided between it rising up above the water, rolling along it as if it were on the ground, or melding from the waves as if they were one. The latter seemed the most logical in terms of how the process would work in reality, but she was concerned about losing definition and detail. She started sketching out each possibility, playing around with different wave forms and shapes, and drawing different ways for them to support the chariot of water.

Without a single word, the Konti shifted her gaze back to the water filled clay mug along with Albizzia bark. The Konti got up off the bed and took a few steps forward. She sat down in the chair, her right hand found it's way back to the knife on the desk and the Timandre began to cut bits of the bark again.

Thoughts of Tock's work instantly flooded Iris' mind. She wanted to know exactly why Tock was busy most of the time Iris came across her. The Konti's blue eyes trailed up and down Tock's body, from the top of her head down to the tip of her toe.

Iris felt as if she had to get something off her chest about Tock. "Tock. You're tearing your body apart. Put that stuff down." It just slipped out, Iris wasn't trying to be bossy. Tock was just her friend. The Konti refused to allow Tock to die due to her own senseless actions.

"From what I can tell, you're working yourself to death. And you know what? From now on, as long as I know you. I'll make sure you get the proper amout of rest. This means no work." Iris held her right hand out pulling her fingers back and fourth demanding Tock's paper and tools.

"Hand them over" escaped Iris' mouth. She had a cold blue stare in her eyes. She was angry with Tock, this was her way of expressing that emotion.

Tock turned an incredulous glare at Iris, staring at the Konti as if she must be crazy. Then she snorted and turned back to her drawings. "'At's a joke, aye Sheila?" she replied. "Ain't so funny. I done gots too much work fer ta do fer ta done been lyin' in bed all week doin' nothin'..." Deep down she knew she was working too hard. She was under an overwhelming amount of stress lately. Between work, school, her designs for her statue, taking care of Mikey, and all the other things she was trying to squeeze in, she had not a single drop of free time. She never relaxed, unless it was at a bar. She never did anything purely for fun.

But that didn't mean she was going to stop working. It wasn't like she was hurting herself. She was lying in bed, getting rest, just like the doctor ordered. She was just drawing while she rested.

She didn't make eye contact, and just continued experimenting with chariots of water rising from the sea. "Ain't nobody what gonna make me stop workin'," she muttered. "Ain't what like I's buildin' nothin'. Not what like nobody done ever died from drawin' 'emselves ta death..."

She tried sketching the cresting waves in a way that they were lifting the chariot forth, using the natural motion of the waves to make it seem more real. That way, instead of some artificial sense of manipulation, the chariot would seem to be simply rising on the back of the water, as though it were a normal part of the motion of the sea. She liked the result, and continued sketching, starting to get a better idea now where she was going with it.

How long will it take(Tockie)

The healer shook her head slowly. Tock wasn't exactly understanding what Iris was trying to tell her. But Tock was a grown woman and Iris could only do so much to try and get through to her. Iris shrugged, at least she gave it a try. But Tock was as defiant as a Konti just about to reach her twenties. Basically, sometimes Iris got very angry with Tock. She just had to ask.

"Tock, how old are you? I never really asked you this.

Finally Iris finished chopping up the Albizzia bark. Her left hand slid across the desk where she was chopping and pushed the chopped up bits into her right. After dropped the bark bits into the clay mug filled with water Iris put the knife into the mug and gave it a small stir.

Iris thought quickly, Tock would have to drink the herbal tea. That meant she possibly would have to stop drawing too. The Konti held the mug out to Tock. A smile formed on Iris' face, not because the tea would make Tock feel better. But because Iris wanted to have her way. If it were up to the Konti Tock would be on house lockdown for the rest of the hot summer season. That'd stop Tock from getting hurt for a while.

"Take that tea. It's used for general health and to enhance your eyesight."

Tock glanced up at the odd question. "Huh?" she muttered. "'Ow old? I unno..." She had to think about it for a moment. How long since she left Sunberth? Four years... it'd be four years exactly in a week or two. So that made her... "Twenty-one? Why? Ain't makes no difference." She shrugged. She didn't consider age to matter much in any possible way.

She took the offered mug and said, "Eyesight, eh?" Her eyesight was actually pretty bad. "Thanks, Sook." She held the mug in one hand, and kept on drawing with the other. She took a sip, then swirled the water around in the mug a bit, studying the motion of it. She drank a bit more so she could swirl it harder and make a little whirlpool motion in the cup. Then she started sketching it, trying to capture the image of the swirling water in her drawings.

"So about the other day, when I sort of tricked you into praying and making a promise. I know you were somewhat angry with me but I'm sure that's over and done with. I'd like to teach you somethings about my religion."

Iris crossed her arms. She still wanted Tock to accept the goddess. It wasn't really a done deal. The Konti watched Tock draw, she wanted Tock to be just as interested in Rak'keli as she was in her projects. Even though it probably was impossible Iris had to try.

"Well there's this building in Mura called the Opal Temple."

Iris said, she checked to see if Tock was interested in her teachings. Tilting her head to the side to see the expression on the woodcarver's face. Iris continued to talk.

"The Opal Order is a cult. Am I moving to fast or should I break it down even more?"

The healer wanted Tock to really take all of it in and understand something that wasn't normal to her. Iris kept saying the two were worlds apart but the Konti had the mind the bring Tock into her world and tell her all about Rak'keli, the religion itself, the temple, and how it is to grow up in Mura along with being a member of the Timandre family.

Tock sighed and lowered her head when Iris suddenly got on her about the religious stuff again. This was the LAST thing she needed to deal with when she was holed up in bed, suffering from a rather nasty wound. She didn't give a rat's arse about Rak'keli, OR her bloody Konti Cult.

Unfortunately, Tock had made a promise. She had told Iris she would listen, and come to actually understand and know Rak'keli's teachings, rather than making ignorant and uninformed snap judgments. She hated the fact that she had to admit she'd been wrong, and hadn't approached the subject with an open mind. Part of her wanted to tell Iris to shove her religious garbage up her skinny, scaley arse. But a promise was a promise... and it really WASN'T fair for her to make a decision about the Goddess before she had all the facts.

"I knows the Opal Temple," Tock informed the Konti. "I done lived in Mura for a bloody year..." Of course, she had never actually been inside the temple. She had only studied the architecture from the outside. It may have also been one of the many buildings there she had climbed. Though she wouldn't mention that; she had a feeling that Iris would get offended if she found out that Tock had left her muddy bootprints all over the roof of her precious temple.

"An' I knows what a bloody cult is," she said with a sneer. She was getting pissed off that Iris seemed to think she had to 'slow down' for Tock to follow along. "I ain't dumb." It was bad enough that her boss had been treating her like she was dumb lately. She didn't need her friend doing it as well.

She crossed her arms and looked away, not feeling much like dealing with the way she felt Iris was treating her. But a promise was a promise...

Shaking her head Iris placed her index finger onto her own lips as a signal for Tock to stop right there. "Tock, I know you're not a fool. If you were a fool I probably wouldn't bother trying to have these conversations with you." Hopefully Tock would understand where Iris was coming from and not get offended. Based on all of Iris and Tock's past encounters she thought as least one arguement was bound to happen soon.

"I've lived about three times as long as you have, Tock. I know fools when I see them. Sure you have your own special way of talking but that's it. Iris realized she was going off topic again and rolled her eyes.

The Konti crossed her right leg over her left leg again. "Healing, something given to me by Rak'keli at birth you know that. The ability possibly saved your leg. You know that as well. The healing Goddess is a welcoming Goddess." Iris turned her right hand around and showed Tock the winged snake.

"Can you guess what this is?" Iris wanted to see if Tock already knew some things about how religion and it's abilities worked. Iris didn't even know everything about it. She only knew of two goddesses(Rak'keli and Avalis) and one God(Laviku). The Konti held her hand out for Tock to get a better look.

Tock was surprised to find out the Konti was apparently, what, 60? She knew they aged slower than most (living in Mura for a year had felt like being at an island filled with nothing but teenagers), but she hadn't expected the girl to be THAT old! She was old enough to be Tock's grandmother.

She glanced at the mark Iris showed her and shrugged. "S'a tattoo," she replied. "What fer 'at, whatchacaller, Rak'keli mark..." She knew the mark. She had painted it on beds, here in the infirmary. She found the symbol kind of ugly, but the doctors had insisted on its use, and so she had complied. She didn't see its significance. She knew that healers were 'marked,' but not the details of how it worked. Her lack of schooling combined with her complete lack of interest in the subject of religion had led to her never paying attention to or learning such things.

Thus, she knew the Gods existed. She knew some of their names, and could remember the big ones like Syna the Sun and Leth the moon. But she couldn't be bothered to memorize the names of the dozens of Gods, nor all the powers they granted people. She knew Rak'keli gave people healy powers, but beyond that, most of it was a mystery to her. She didn't know how they worked, any more than she knew how swimming worked; yeah, it was something people did, but it wasn't for her, and she wasn't clear on the mechanics.
