Stretching northward along the coastline of the Suvan Sea, the Cobalt Mountains are the home of the Bronze Wood, numerous ruins, and creatures both strange and fantastical.

Northeast of Syliras in the Colbalt Mountains, the Lykolav Iron mine is named for Ros Vizerian's mother, Lykolav Vizerian, who discovered the ore load while doing a careful survey of the Sylira Region ages past. Ros, laying immediate claim to the mine as soon as his mother sent word, moved from Sultros to Syliras and established the largest forge to date to help supply the Syliran Knights with armor, barding, and weapons to fight for their noble cause - the re-establishment of civilization. The mine employs two hundred workers, operates daily, and is one of the highest paying jobs around the region. Considered a boon to Syliras' economy, the Lykolav mine produces excellent quality ore that is refined right on the premises and shipped as ready to work blocks directly to the Ironworks in Syliras.

There are others who work the mines, usually between fifty and one hundred or so, who are not highly paid, respectable sorts. Those sentenced to manual labor by the Council of Three - and who possess the fortitude to work beneath the earth - are often assigned to do the heavy lifting and hauling necessary to get the ore from the depths of the ground to the surface and out to Syliras.

[Syliras Location] The Lykolav Iron Mine

Postby Carney on July 18th, 2012, 7:14 am

The second day of summer, 412 AV

It had taken Carney some time to get a ride to the Lykolav Iron Mines, but he knew it would be worth it. He had heard from the girl at the employment office that most of the workers there were convicts, to Carney this meant two things. First that they would indeed want someone who was honorable as the girl had put it the day prior, for all he knew they may have a position for him that was not at the bottom of the totem pole. Though he did not want to get his hopes up because he knew everyone had to earn their bones one way or another. The second thing all those convicts meant was that his dark brother would likely be able to have his own fun, for example get into a fight here and there.

Carney took his time making his way toward where he thought he needed to go, asking people when he needed and taking in the sight of the mine. Eventually he had made his way to the person to speak to about work, making sure to be polite and kind he waited for his turn to speak to the foreman. "Hello I am Carney and I am here looking for work here in your mine. He waited for the foreman to respond then would continue, "I have experience mining as well as a small amount of experience in geology." The Akalak waited for an answer hoping that he would like what the foreman would have to say.

The man looked up at the newcomer and let out a cough. The air was hazy, do to the constant crushing of rocks in the search for iron, the precious metal that would kept the knights armed. Through the combination of dim light and the haze, he tried to identify what sort of character had come looking for work this time. A few moments of observation lead him to conclude that an Akalak stood before him, indicated by newcomer's large frame. His eyes could also detect a purple hue to his skin, although it didn't stick out as much as it did in the light. Carney was the name the Akalak introduced himself with. He claimed that he knew about mining, and even geology. The foreman smiled, and spat at the ground beside him before speaking.

"A'ight, then, well I s'pose anotha' hand could always help out round' here. Take this. I'll assume you know what do withit'." the foreman clumsily handed the Akalak a pickaxe. "Alright mister Carney, get to work. The iron in here aint gonna mine itself. Them knights need it and what not"
Currently working at new job so I am still trying to balance it out with Miza. I apologize for any delays.

The man before Carney was a crude mannered man but the kind of man that he had worked around many times. It would be strange in fact if he were not that way, these were the ways of most miners. He looked through the haze at the voice that was speaking to him and listened, what he heard was good news to his ears.

The man sort of handed Carney a pickaxe and he took it saying, "Thank you boss I will get right to work." With that said Carney would take his pickaxe and make his way to work. Many mines he had found were like a maze of trails and tunnels, he would make his way through the tunnels asking here and there as to where he was to go.
