[Archery Supplies Storage Room] Broken Arrows (Napua)

Time Stamp: Summer, 512AV, Day 53
Place: Archery Supplies Storage Room, Dek Secret Niche

Filling a pot with dirt, Vaas says to Selia without looking up from his task, “Selia I think I am going to take up archery. What do you think?” Selia known Vaas since he was born, and she also knew his parents. Vaas' father was a mellow man. Who enjoyed playing his music, and he didn't care much for elevating himself to a higher station in life. Selia was proud to call him son. He was her youngest of three, and she always loved the way he played his flute. Vaas had his fathers musical talent, but he got his spirit from his mother. She frowns to herself and thinks of his mother, 'He is too much like his mother.' Vaas' mother on the other hand was a charismatic little red haired minx. Who was more trouble than she was worth. Vaas' mother was a avora hunter. Who enjoyed the nightlife of Inclement Weather way to much for Selia liking. Vaas' father a shy man was captivated by the outspoken and passionate young woman. Selia believe the young woman was in love with her own voice because she never stopped talking. Selia would have liked the beautiful young woman, but she always got her son into trouble with the Valintar by distracting him from his daily duties. Selia sitting by him by him looks up from her pot at the blind man, and says with a hesitant tone in her voice, “Sweety. Just stick to your flute and falconry. I don't think you will have much success at archery.”

Vaas tilts his head in confusion towards the sound of Selia voice. He sits their silent can't believing what he just heard come from his mentors mouth. Selia always taught him to try everything regardless of his blindness. He gives the older woman a concerned look and asks slowly, “Selia are you feeling alright? Do I need to bring you to the healers?” Selia frowns at the young man smart mouth and thinks to herself, 'Yes, he is definitely Narai's son.' Selia laughs out loud despite Vaas' old joke and says to him, “Vaas I doubt the instructors will teach you at the ranges because you are blind. What about your friend Aela. Maybe she will give you private lessons.”

Vaas frowns at her suggestion, and Aela has her own challenges to deal with in her own life. Besides, Vaas really doesn't want to try explaining to her his want to learning the bow. What if she reacts the same way Selia just did? He shakes his head, stops thinking about Aela, and says firmly to Selia, “Aela has better things to do than to teach me. Honestly, Selia. I am a Inarta, and it is our job to provide food for Wind Reach. Yes, I can catch rabbits and squirrels with Wind Dancer, but rabbits and squirrels won't feed the people of Wind Reach through the winter.” Realizing this is the first time, he actually got angry at Selia starts to feel a little embarrass about how he reacted to her. Ever since the spring storm Vaas' has been starting to look at his life, and what is really important to the city is food. Being a musician is honorable job in Wind Reach, but it won't feed starving people when things get tough. He wants to be useful to Wind Reach and not feel so worthless in these tough times. Vaas frowns and says to Selia, “I am sorry Selia, but if your not going to help me fine. I can figure something on my own.”

Selia looks at him sadly and takes a deep breath, “OK fine. I know of a place for you to go and learn without the scrutiny of your peers. I really not sure if I should tell you, but the deks in the archery storage rooms have set up a make shift archery range down in the storage caverns. If you can get past the guard, you should be able to convince the dek down their to train you in the basics of archery. I think that is your best bet unless you feel comfortable in going to the Fletcher’s Corner.” Vaas heard of Fletchers Corner and he not really sure if he ready to fail horribly in front of people. He knows right away. He looks at Selia and says, “I think I can get past the guard. I'll just have to play the part of a dek.”

Selia gives Vaas a strange look, but she decides to help him. Selia smiles at the young man and she walks over to one of her dek servants helping her in the garden. When she approaches the Dek man looks up at her, and says in soft voice, “Avora Selia may I help you with anything?” Selia looks over the middle aged man and says sweetly to him, “Take a break, but first I need your clothes.” The Dek nods and removes his lontev and hands it to Selia. Selia smiles to him, but inwardly groins at his swift obedience and says to him, “Go change into a clean pair of clothes. I will get you new lontev before the night is over.” She walks back to Vaas' and kneels down next to him, takes his hand from the flower pot, a sets the dirty lontev in his hand. She smiles and says to him, “Put some dirt on your face and some in your hair. Your two clean to be a convincing dek, sweety. You are your mothers son you should be able to get passed the guard with no issues.” Vaas ears perk up when she mentions his mother, but he decides to save the awkward questions for later. He takes some soil and smears a little bit on his face, and he smears it along his forearms. Vaas looks up at Selia and smiles, “Do I look like a dek? Or I need more dirt?” Selia laughs out loud and says with a smirk, “Your fine with the dirt, Vaas. We don't want to go overboard with it. Get dressed and I'll take you down to the storage cavern.”

As Vaas walks with Selia down the corridors, she start telling him the route to the storage caverns, so he can head there in the future. Vaas enjoys Selia company and he thinks of her as the grandmother he never had. He never told her this thought, but by the way, she is always there for him. He thinks she knows how he feels about her. Tapping his staff along the stone floor, Vaas says to Selia, “Sorry I raised my voice to you. I hope you forgive me.” Selia smiles and says softly to him, “I am glad you stood up for yourself Vaas. I wouldn't have helped you if you weren't serious about learning archery. I had to make sure this is what you wanted.” Vaas smiles to her and continues following her down the corridor. Eventually they make their way down into the caves. Vaas can smell the humidity in the cold air and he can feel the cobble stone gave way to smooth dirt. Selia leads him to a intersection and says to him, “If you turn left Vaas, you will head to the Underground Forest, but if you go right it will lead you to the storage cavern. The guard should stop you, so good luck Vaas you are on your own from here on.” Selia gives him a hug and head back down the corridor.

[Archery Supplies Storage Room] Broken Arrows (Solo)

Postby Vaas on July 29th, 2012, 7:26 am

Vaas takes a deep breath to quell his anxiety, and he walks to the intersection and turns right. Waving his staff to navigate down the corridor, Vaas notices this hallway was slightly narrower than the inner warrens. In one full swing of his staff, he could hit each side of the hall. During his decent down the hall, he notices the air of the hallway is slightly drier than normal. They designers must of picked this part of cavern for long time storage, and it is a good thing they did because wooden bows and arrows would last too long in humid environment. As he gets closer to the end of the corridor, he hears a loud man yell to him with slight hint of annoyance in his voice, “For the love of Eywaat, where have you been? I have four quivers of arrows needed to be taken to the Second Quiver. Right away!” After hearing his voice, Vaas stops and looks at the floor. Inwardly, he smiles to himself thinking his disguise actual worked. Vaas still looking at the ground says in a weak voice, “I am sorry sir. I got lost on the way here. Forgive me please.” The chiet guard snarls, back hands him across the face, and Vaas' staff flies to the ground somewhere. Crumpling to the ground, Vaas pulls himself to his knees and he wipes his now bloody lip with the back of his hands. Thinking to himself if this was any other day this bastard would pay a price. Suddenly he taste of iron fills his mouth, and Vaas spits the blood on the ground. He wipes his mouth and starts patting the ground with his hand searching the ground for his staff. The guard says dryly to Vaas, “Don't give me orders, Dek! I'll forgive who I want to forgive. I don't need some dirty dirt crawler telling me how to conduct my life!”

The guard watches the dek for a moment and notices he is blind. Rolling his eyes, he says to himself with a laugh loudly enough for Vaas to hear, “Why do I keep getting the most worthless runners. They are either too stupid to follow orders, or they send well... you. Do you even know how to get to the Second Quiver, blind man?” Vaas still crawling on the ground looking for his staff, shakes his head, no, and says with a quivering voice, “Sorry sir. I am new to this job. Can you tell me where the Second Quiver is?” Noticing the Dek is getting closer to finding his staff, the guard decides to move the staff away out of the young mans reach with his foot, he flashes Vaas a annoyed stare, takes a deep breath, and starts speaking slowly, so Vaas would understand him, “Man you are stupid. Fine do you know where Craft Gallery, Arms Gallery, and the Glass Reverie is located?” Vaas looks up towards the sound of guards voice and says to him, “Yes, I been to those locations before.” The guard nods and continues his direction to Vaas, “Good, knowing this will make it easier to explain. OK, you walk past all the location the Craft Gallery, Arms Gallery, and Glass Reverie, and on the right side of the Glass Reverie. There is a stairwell leading down into a warren if you follow the warren, it will lead you to the archery range. Understand what I said, dirt crawler?”

Vaas already knew where the Second Quiver was located. He has been down that inner before by accident when visiting Krysanthe. He crawls over closer to the guard and his fingers touch the end of his staff; however, before he can grab the staff once again the guard moves the staff once again with his foot. Anger starts to boiling in Vaas stomach, and luckily, Vaas' red hair is shielding the look of hate growing on his face. He swallows his pride and continues on with his charade. He looks up at guard and says to him meekly, “I understand, sir.” Vaas already figured the guard kicked his staff slightly to the left. Vaas reaches out and grabs his staff firmly in his hand. Fighting up the urge to man checking this petching guard in the balls with his staff. Vaas stands up slowly, brushes off his knees, and he stands straight up looking at the guard for his next instructions. The guard shifts uncomfortably a little noticing the blind dek is taller than him by a good five inches.

Waiting for the guard to tell him where the quivers are located, Vaas hears and recognizes a familiar voice behind him. He hadn't heard this voice since last spring. He hears her walk up next to him, and says to the guard in a low voice, “Sorry sir, I am late. I had a...long night last night.” Vaas tilts his head towards her and now he finally realizes the name to the voice, Miri. The dek girl he gave his scarves to during the winter months. He swallows nervously hoping she doesn't recognized him yet. He doesn't want to have his real name used down here. He quickly says to the guard, “By the way sir, my name is Ryuss and I will get the quivers to their destination.”Vaas swears to himself in his head when he realizes he spoke that statement with too much confidence in his voice.

Miri looks over at the tall young man next to her that called himself Ryuss. Her eyes widen for a moment as she recognizes Vaas, but she keeps her mouth shut on his identity and thinks to herself, 'Why is Vaas acting like a dek? Isn't he a chiet?' She looks at back at the ground not wanting to meet the eyes of the guard. Miri glances over at Vaas and smiles creeps onto her face. It was nice to see him again. Even though, he decided to roll around in dirt before he coming down here. She fights back the urge to rube the dirt from his hair, but she decides to let it go for now. Even though, Vaas doesn't recognize her as his childhood friend from the nursery. As a child, Vaas was always quick to anger and the bullies took advantage of his blindness to torment him further. Vaas learned to defend himself at a early age. Most of the time, it was her running to his aid and finishing the fight for him. Fighting was common for him in school, and he had very few friends except for Krysanthe.

The guard looks up into the green cloudy eyes of the tall dek and thinks to himself, “Ryuss is too strong of a name for a dek.” He looks at Vaas and says smirk, “Your mother must have had high hopes for you with a name like Ryuss. I feel sorry for your mother, you must have been a big disappointment.” Miri looks up at Vaas remembering the time in nursery when she witness him attack a bully for saying less than what he said now. Vaas still looking at the ground tightens his grip on his staff and bites the lip. He is a dek today, but if it was any other day, he would of punched the bastard in the mouth for the last comment. Instead, he looks at the ground and says sadly, “I never knew my mother, sir. Most likely I was dropped off at nursery right after I was born. After she found out I was blind.” Vaas smiles inwardly to himself and thinks proudly about his “lie”. Sometimes the best lie is the cruel and honest truth, and the honest truth Vaas believes everything he just said. He considered himself a unwanted child by his parents. Vaas takes a deep breath and asks, “Can I get to work sir?” The guard looks at him and nods silently, he looks at Miri and tells her, “Since you are late girl, I want you both to carry four quivers of arrows to the Second Quiver. Once you two are back here tell the next guard on duty that you finished this task.” Miri looks up at her old friend, puts a hand on his arm, and pulls him in the direction of the storage cavern, “Follow me, Ryuss.”

[Archery Supplies Storage Room] Broken Arrows (Napua)

Postby Napua on August 16th, 2012, 10:31 pm

A new day begun and Napua exhaled a breath and stretched as she got up from the floor bedding of her meager dwelling. No hunting was on the agenda today as she was slated to work as a supply runner for the remainder of the week but she hoped to find some free time anyways to practice archery later; she was most afraid of going without training herself for long and failing when she did go out to hunt as the arrows were not to be wasted. They were already hard enough to come by if you wanted decent ones as a Dek.

She left her 'home' and in a chipper manner, quickly made her way along, her bare feet hitting against the hard ground of which she was no stranger to. Napua was nearing her destination but she diverted from her route and stood at a fair distance away so she could stare from the outside of 'Top Notch' and smiled to herself. She secretly wished she could watch the Endals practice inside, knowing it was possibly the closest chance she'd ever get to really observe them and their technique but she hadn't the opportunity to work there yet but somehow she'll make it happen.

Napua finally moved, turning around and continuing along before she was late. Sweat beaded from her forehead as she ran until she came upon the Bent Arrow and she stopped at the entrance to speak to the chiet present. "Almost late little Dek girl.. you know what happens when you're late huh." The guard quips with a dark gaze down at her before smacking her on her behind and dismissing her with a flick of his wrist when she quickly turned to face him, her jaw clenching, "Yes.. sir.." She answers as her anger bubbles inside but she bites her tongue even as her fist tightens behind her back before scampering off quickly further inside the cavern to the storage. One day, she said to herself, he's going to pay for how he treats me.

Now inside the storage cavern, Napua gathers up the arrows and a few bows to take to the ranges but before she does so, she peers further into the cavern into the niche, looking wistfully inside, "I need you.." She whispers, her form turning to head now to the ranges, bows clanking against each other as she jogs off.

[Archery Supplies Storage Room] Broken Arrows (Napua)

Postby Vaas on August 17th, 2012, 2:09 am

Vaas hears the guard open the door for Miri and Vaas, and Miri rushes Vaas through the before the guard can start anymore trouble. Not sure what is going on, Vaas stops and wrenches his arm from her grasp and snaps at her in quietly , “You know. I can walk Miri. You don't have to lead me like a dog.” Miri shakes his head and says to him trying to calm him down, “Vaas you are playing a dangerous game. Marth was seconds from beating you.” She looks at the doorway making sure they are not watched. Once the coast is clear, she asks him, “Why are you here, and for the love of the goddess, why are you dressed like a Dek?” Rubbing his arm, Vaas looks away into the darkness, and says to her, “I wanted to learn archery. I heard the Dek had a secret range down in the storage room.”Miri just rolls her eyes and laughs to herself quietly. Her eyes fall on the the young chiet face, and she asks again, “Than why are you dressed like a Dek? I have seen many of upper castes use our range from time to time.” Vaas shift uncomfortably and says to her, “I... wanted to blend in as a Dek, so your caste would treat me like one of their own. I guess I didn't want to be treat different being of the upper caste.”

Miri shakes her head because his logic doesn't make sense. He could be learn and practiced at the Fletcher's Corner. He might of got a few stares from his peers, but they wouldn't discourage him from staying and practicing. It was nice to see Vaas again, but this idea is just down right stupid. She stares at him a little longer. She throws up her hands and surrenders. She tugs at his sleeve in the direction. She wants him to follow, and says to him dryly, “This way “Ryuss”. We need to get these arrows to the Second quiver. Before Marth throws a fit.” Vaas hears her walk away, and he follows her using his staff to lead the way, and says quietly to her back, “Miri, I am not trying to cause you any trouble, but honestly, if I go to the Fletcher's Corner with zero skill and being blind. I am going to be laughed out of the place.” Miri shakes her head and snorts to herself. Realizing he is just down here to save his pride, Miri laughs out loud and says to him trying to control her anger, “Well I am glad your pride won't be hurt, Vaas. Us Deks are always willing to serve our overlords needs and...pride!”

Figuring everything Vaas says is digging him a deeper hole with Miri. He decides to shut up and follows the sound of her footsteps. In silence, he starts to wonder her reasoning for being so hostility to him. He has done nothing to her today. She is acting like he kick her favorite bird. He continues following her footsteps down the hall, and suddenly, she motions him to stop by putting a hand on his chest. Vaas stops his walking and listens for her command. Miri looks up at him and smiles softly. She says softly to him, “Sorry, Vaas I shouldn't take out my frustrations on you. It just frustrating being treated like a object for some Avora's amusement! I said too much already, but it is good to see you again, but.... a never mind lets get going.” Vaas raises an eyebrow at her comment about being a object Avora's amusement. When he was a yasi, he heard rumors of the horrible things done to Deks by the upper castes. Could all the rumors be true? Vaas would says something to her, but his words would probably mean nothing to her right now. He continues following her footsteps down the dark hallway.

Eventually, Miri makes it to large pile of arrows and she puts on hand on Vaas' chest again to stop him. She looks around and sees the new girl watching the Dek's practicing their archery. Miri says to Vaas without looking back, “Vaas right now. I really need to bathe. I am going to see if Napua can help you with the bundles of arrows, so stay right her while I talk to her, OK.” Miri walks up behind the young Dek girl and taps her on the shoulder. She doesn't know much of her other than she transferred down here a week ago, and Miri always made a effort to get to know the new runners, so hopefully, she wouldn't be too put off on doing her a favor. Miri stands beside her, smiles at the younger girl, and says to her, “You must be Napua right? My name is Miri.” She glances over at Vaas, who is fiddling with a arrow right now. She grins at him and turns back to Napua “Listen, I know you don't know me very well, and I understand if you say no, but my friend Ryuss.” Miri rolls her eyes at his name, turns back to the girl, and continues, “He is blind and needs help finding the Second Quiver, so he can deliver some bundles of arrows to the range.” Miri looks away and tightens her lips together and continues, “I would do it myself, but after last night... I really need a bathe. If you do this for me, I will owe you big time.” Miri stand their waiting for her response.

[Archery Supplies Storage Room] Broken Arrows (Napua)

Postby Napua on August 18th, 2012, 5:07 pm

Napua, having gone to the archery range, distributes the bows and arrows to the chiet and the best of the lot to the avora and higher castes present. Not many Endal came here at all, and why would they anyway with the lovely 'Top Notch' there for their use. It did make her jealous inside a bit because she knew she could've been of a higher caste if not for her own stupidity and anger when she was a Yasi. She screwed her life without thinking based on her emotion as a young girl and now was trying to pick the pieces up.

She mused her life over as she waited for the arrows to be shot off at their targets, before her and other deks ran forward to retrieve them from the ground and/or targets. It wasn't long before an Avora was yelling at her to get him some more arrows and a better bow and back to the storage room she went in a sprint at first but then slowing to a walk. She took a little comfort in the fact some of them were not as good as she was and it made her smirk when they blamed it on the bow or arrows.

The young dek slipped down into the storage room her eyes turning to watch the archers and not paying any particular attention to the two deks who were talking amongst themselves in a low voice then stopping when she gets closer to the arrows. She eyed the male intently as she clearly did not know him but the noticed he walked with the aide of a staff and Napua gives a brief squint of her grey eyes before filling a quiver and retrieving one bow of a better stock. When the female of the two taps her shoulder, Napua quirks a brow, looks at the finger then to the girl and tilts her head.

"Yes? Um.. okay, hi Miri.." She waits a bit then looks to Ryuss when Miri indicates him, watching his nervousness with some suspicion in her grey gaze before she turns her attention to Miri, "Okay so you want me to take him over to Second Quiver? You do know I'm working over -here- today right and I could be beaten?" She glances away to the blind Inarta and audibly grunts, "You owe me big time Miri, I am holding you to this." She hisses at Miri then turns addressing the blind Inarta, "I'm dropping you by there as quick as I can so you and your stick best keep up. I'm not getting beaten over you so get your arrows and come."

Postby Vaas on August 18th, 2012, 6:18 pm

Vaas stands where Miri left him. He can overhear the conversation between the two since none of them are trying to conceal their volume. Being a Dek is a lot different than being a Chiet. From what little he have seen in his little incursion into their world. A Dek world is a cruel and thankless world and foreigners were right, they are treated like slaves, but no Inartan would ever admit that fact. Vaas knew they were treated bad, but Vaas could only imagine what Miri had to endure the night before to amuse the Avora. At this thought, his hand tightens around his staff in anger. Selia was right no human or non human should be treated like cattle. However, the whole thought of Deks being treated equally is strictly laughed at by the upper castes. Why would they care? These people are their play things to them. Yes, a lot of Inartan do have the same thinking as him, but he knows their voices are normally shut down in the council.

Vaas hearing the anger in young woman voice as she talks to Miri. Vaas starts to feel really guilty about the whole situation. Besides it is his selfish ambitions to learn archery that could get both of them. In really trouble with their bosses, Vaas can't bring himself to be the reason for their punishment. To make matters worse, the young woman cold snap at him. Made him regret the decision of involving them even more. It wasn't his plan to involve anyone in the first place. He just by happen stance anyway to run into Miri at the same time. Vaas looks at the young woman and says to her in a soft voice, “Never mind Miri, I don't need a guide. I am not going to let this young woman get beaten because of me. I can manage bringing the arrows to the Second Quiver myself.”

Miri looks at him and to Napua. She herself starting to feel guilty from the young woman outburst. She runs a hand through her hair, and ask to him, “Vaas how are you going to manage carrying eight bundles to the Second Quiver by yourself?” She blushes when she realizes her mistake of revealing his real name. Hoping Napua doesn't catches her mistake. She was about to say something, but Vaas beats her to the punch, “I can always make multiple trips, Miri. If the guard gives me trouble, so be it. I can handle myself anyways.” Vaas realizing he has no clue which pile the quivers of arrows are located. Vaas scratches his head feeling some dirt fall to the ground. Vaas makes a face realizing he put to much dirt in his hair. He looks up in the direction of the two woman, “I have one more question before I leave you both. What direction is the arrows located.”

[Archery Supplies Storage Room] Broken Arrows (Napua)

Postby Napua on August 18th, 2012, 7:05 pm

Napua turns away from Miri, her eyes on the Inarta male going by Ryuss and she waits a bit longer, her eyes watching his expression change as he says in a soft voice to nevermind and he doesn't need a guide and the young dek girl sighs loudly. "Look, if we're quick I can get you there and run back here. Just know Miri's gonna owe me and owing someone something can be good for me right now, so I'm gonna risk it. I need her to owe me and since you're her friend then fine, beating hasn't killed me thus far. I'm not as skinny as some of the dek around here. So.. I'll take you but you gotta be quick."

She looks to Miri again then and smiles a bit sweetly, giving a knowing nod after her words. She preferred to be owed than be the one owing. It put her in an advantage which she needed and she needed something really badly which could probably help her in her quest up from being a dek. Just one step up anyways, it wouldn't be much but every bit counted. She listens to Miri speak to Ryuss then squints when she calls him another name, her grey eyes trailing back over to the dirty, blind Inartan before her but she doesn't comment on it, she will ask later. If he wanted it secret, he'd just owe her too.

Napua stepped closer and took Ryuss hand, giving a small urging when she tugs lightly, "Come, we're already wasting enough time, whateveryournameis. The arrows are over here, get your bundles and let's be off. You know you need the damn help already." She guided the inarta's hand down to the bundles then releases it, stepping back to watch. Whoever this Ryuss or Vaas was, Napua didn't know but he was obviously down here for some reason and using a fake name or Miri was just stupid which she knew the girl wasn't. Her interest was piqued now and perhaps this was another opportunity somehow to have an advantage of. Napua didn't know yet but she'd go along with it and play it by ear.

[Archery Supplies Storage Room] Broken Arrows (Napua)

Postby Vaas on August 21st, 2012, 2:48 am

Miri smiles at Napua and says to her quietly, “I will make it up to Napua. I will remember your kindness.” She looks over at Vaas and says to him, “See you later Ryuss.” She turns away and disappears behind a pile of quivers. Vaas listens to young woman insist that she helps him in his assignment. He figures the young woman needed something from him eventually, so Vaas just smiles at her and asks, “Thanks for your assistance. I really appreciate your help. By the way, what is your name?” Miri already mentioned her name, but he is trying to be polite to the young Dek woman. Leaning on his staff, he can tell Napua seemed to have a edge to her. He can understand her having this attitude. It probably help her coup with all the things. She had to endure throughout her life, or he could be totally wrong, and she just likes to live her life dangerously.

Vaas hears Napua walk towards him, and he feels her take his hand and with a light tug leads him to the pile of arrows. He laughs to himself when she calls him whateveryournameis. Vaas figures his weak disguise would be seen through eventually. Luckily. the young woman is playing along with his charade, and what really impressed him was her ability to call him out on his stubborn pride. Honestly since the storm hit Wind Reach, Vaas has been having trouble navigating Wind Reach because the storm drastically changed the landscape of his home. Tripping hazards has been his number one nemesis, but Vaas been hearing about weak walls and even open holes in the warrens.

Vaas does what the girl commands, and when he gets to the pile, he says to the young woman, “ I have a idea. How about we put four quivers on each side of the staff. Than all you have to do is lead me, and I can be the pack mule.” He flashes her a smile after his bad joke. He brings up the staff and sets it on his shoulder. He holds the staff evenly on his shoulders bracing for the weight of the quivers. He says to Napua, “Ok start putting the quivers on, and we'll get going.”

Vaas gives her a friendly nod. He doesn't want her to be beaten on his behalf, so he will try to do this job as quickly as he can. Vaas can hear the twang from the bows off in the distance, and his heart starts to pound in anticipation. He going to have to ask the Dek. Who is instructing him in archery. All the basics like stance, proper way to hold the bow, and nock the arrow. His mind starts to wander, and he remembers Selia mentioning his mother. He wonders if she was a hunter. He smiles to himself when he starts to envisioning her taking a younger version of him to the archery range and instructing him how to shot a bow. His daydreaming stops when he feels the quivers being aligned on the staff.

[Archery Supplies Storage Room] Broken Arrows (Napua)

Postby Napua on August 22nd, 2012, 12:51 pm

Napua wrinkles her nose with annoyance as Miri heads off and she turns to look at 'Ryuss'. You're right, Miri, you are going to make this up to me.. now what am I to do with the poor blind sod. She sighed and shook her head when she's addressed and she squints her eyes a moment, regarding the male fully before she answers, "Napua. I'm sure your ears work fine." She didn't mean to answer so harshly but it is what it is and she couldn't take back the tone of her voice. She was clearly annoyed at the situation and the risk but sometimes having someone owe you a favour is worth the beating if the one owing the debt atleast delivered.

She watches him while standing at the pile after having gently guided him over to it and she gives a chuckle when he suggests using his staff as some sort of tool to carry the burden of the full quivers and even before she can give an answer, 'Ryuss' already has the staff over his shoulders and waiting, so she concedes and chuckles again, filling the quivers up and hooking one to each side then another pair, sliding them onto the staff until each side holds four quivers of twenty arrows. "There, now all we have to do is get you out of here without you knocking someone down, poking an eye out or tripping over yourself!" She says dryly and rolls her eyes, tugging again at the blind Inartan's sleeve and saying, "C'mon, let's go and ya know, me and you.. we're gonna have a nice little talk about well.. namely.. you." She had never worked with a blind person before, she actually tried to avoid most other Deks if she could when it came to work or anything because she just didn't trust anyone and she hoped this situation here would be different. This blind man and Miri were obviously up to something and she intended to find out what.

She smiles sweetly and pats Ryuss' cheek, "Now, let's hustle." She is already heading towards the archway, her hand gently on the fabric of Ryuss' Lontev to guide him along as she moves quietly. She passes the guard, yelling at him to duck then laughing when Ryuss' staff almost collides and she hastily heads out onto the street, Ryuss trailing behind her and almost stumbling. "Didn't want him asking questions.. now come come, use those legs."

[Archery Supplies Storage Room] Broken Arrows (Napua)

Postby Vaas on August 23rd, 2012, 1:50 am

“Why did I ever suggest this stupid idea!” Vaas thinks to himself when Napua put the last quiver on the staff. He wobbles a bit from the weight of the arrows. He widens his legs more to support the increase in weight. If the weight wasn't too over bearing, Vaas would of made a witty comment to her, but all he could muster is a quick nod. He feels her tug at his sleeve to motion him to follow her. He listens for the direction of her footsteps and follows her through the storage room. When Vaas starts moving forward, struggling to regain his balance, he feels himself veer to left from the weight of his load. He decides the best approach predicament is to take it slow and steady.

While Vaas is walking down the hall, he starts to think of excuses for his name and the reasoning for the false name. Nothing comes to mind because all his reasons are more absurd than the truth. Krysanthe was right. How does he find himself in these strange situations. Vaas chalks it up to bad luck, or the gods have it in for him. However, he decides not to comment until she insist on bringing up the subject once again. No reason to completely blow cover if he doesn't have too. Vaas slowly follows Napua down the hall when he gets closer to hear the guard talking. He stops and catches his breath than he slowly starts turning the staff, so it is facing the front of him. This was not an easy task, and Napua might heard Vaas throw out a few petches here and there along the way. Also to make matters worse, she decided to taunt him along the way. “Fine pick on the blind man and his crazy ideas. Now feel my wraith!” Vaas thinks in his head while he listens to her tease him about the potential self inflicted hazards of his plan. When he hears Napua continuing on her path, Vaas decides to do something truly childish, and he quickly sticks his tongue out at his taskmaster.

Vaas feeling his muscles in his shoulders start to burn more with every step. Suddenly Vaas veers slightly to the left when Napua pats him on the cheek to stop him. He just smiles at his taskmaster and says to her with a playful grin, “Whatever you say, Napua. When we come back from the range, I can always carry you if your feet get too sore?” He figures if young woman can dish it out. She can take it too. Vaas is starting to wonder if the girl enjoys making him suffer. Hopefully, she doesn't push him over the moment. They are clear of the guard. Suddenly Vaas hears Napua yell at the guard to watch his head. Vaas chuckles to himself when he is almost tempted to whack the guard in the head for good measure. Vaas slowing down even more from the weight. He hears Napua yell back at him to hurry it up. Vaas in childish rebellion yells back at the girl, “Yes Mistress! Whatever you say, Mistress!” Ignoring her protest, he moves the staff, so it rests on his shoulders and continues following Napua.
